No, I said Reimer has played in 140 NHL games - 36 is the most he has played in a season. I've also said Reimer hasn't proven he can be a #1 goalie yet people are talking about him like he already is one.
-
And you have no way of knowing how he would play in a Jets uniform either. I disagree that Miller's career looked finished in Buffalo and considering what the Blues gave up for him and Ott, I don't think they thought he was finished either. He's a very good example of a goalie whose stats were affected by being on a bad team. And Giguerre played all of 25 games over 2 seasons for the Flames and in his first season with the Ducks he spent the first 3 months in the minors - completely different situation. BTW, both of the goalies you mentioned are scheduled to be UFAs.

And what makes you think Reimer can't if given the chance? You have no way of knowing. IIRC Reimer has been the #1 goalie for the Leafs and has lost the job because of his play. So, you don't think that it was a team effort all around him? That only he was the problem? I didn't say that. Of course Reimer wasn't the only problem but he was enough of a problem that he lost the #1 status and only got it back because of an injury. It's funny that you mention the team effort around Reimer when so many seem to be ignoring the team effort around Pavs. People seem to forget that stats don't tell the whole story. I was watching a highlight video of some of Pav's big saves on YouTube the other day and on almost every save there was some type of defensive breakdown - players out of position, guys left wide open in the slot, players focused on the puck instead of who they are supposed to be covering, etc. If the Jets played consistently sound defence and Pav's numbers were the same then I would say there is a problem. But the Jets are not yet doing that and Pav's numbers reflect that. And no I'm not saying Pav's has not let in some weak goals but every goalie in the league has let in some stinkers. I don't buy the whole "The team played better defensively with Montoya in net" excuse.... Montoya was playing against a lot of the elite teams and the Jets had an equal amount of breakdowns with him in net. I'm no expert but from watching most of the games this season... to me it seemed like Pav cannot control the rebounds at all... so many shots he kicked out the puck bouncing it back to the opposition which then set up many goals. Also many more sloppy goals of him being out of place and/or spending to much time on the ice. I noticed a massive difference in puck control with Montoya in net... instead of deflecting an innocent shot back to the oppositions defense... he seemed to be able to ground the puck and allow our defense to pick it up and move it down the ice breaking the oppositions cycle. I could see if you were comparing to Hutchinson who only had the 3 starts.... but come on now Montoya played quite a bit of games and over a period of time the numbers simply don't lie. I didn't said the team played better defensively for Montoya. The only time I've mentioned Montoya in this thread was in comparing his stats to Reimer. I don't know what Hutchinson has to do with this. Montoya played 28 games this season with a 2.30 GAA and .920 Sv% while Reimer played 36 games with a 3.29 GAA and .911 Sv%. Montoya has played 91 games with a career 2.63 GAA and .910 Sv% compared to Reimer's 140 games with a career 2.85 GAA and .914 Sv%. Do you think Montoya should be a #1 goalie in the league. Reimer has been given opportunities to be the #1 guy in Toronto and he hasn't been able to capitalize on them. There are a number of goalies who will be UFAs this off-season who are lot better than Reimer who will be a RFA. I really have to wonder whether people would be as high on Reimer if he had been born in Minnesota instead of Manitoba.

The Bombers had invitation camps rather than open camps under Mack.

They not going to replace Perry Pearn...and why would Barry Trotz want an ass't job? To work with one of the great organizations in hockey. Right? Plus if no good head coaching jobs show up in the next few weeks he can bide his time working in Winnipeg. His services would be welcome by many! But I agree he might want to just take it easy for a year, do some color commentary/panelist, etc. If he wants to bide his time until an HC job opened up he's much more likely to stay with the Preds than take an assistant job.

Montoya's stats are better than Reimer's iirc and they played about the same number of games this season. I don't think anyone is suggesting Montaya is #1 material.
-
Reimer hasn't played more than 36 games in a season in the NHL. What makes anyone think he can carry the load for an entire season.

For anyone who thought the Bombers should have gone after Johnny Forzani:
-
By McCune do you mean Robert McCune or another McCune? And if so when did we sign him?? No one has signed Robert McCune and we aren't interested in him according to reports.
-
When he signed with the KHL team he was an RFA so I think all the Jets had to do was make a qualifying offer to retain his rights.

So some stranger mocks you and is a total jackass and you're going to laugh it off but someone here tells you to lighten up and you get all bent out of shape. If you don't like my posts then 1) don't read them or 2) put me on your foe list. It's certainly no skin off my nose. As for lecturing, there's the pot calling the kettle black. But don't worry, Iso, I'm done with this thread. -
Is he this year's Boatman and Taormina?

I never said anything about sympathy. As far as I'm concerned it is wrong to belittle someone's disability. Would you like it if people downplayed what you've gone through and made jokes about it as if it was nothing. You want to criticize Chretien's policies, personality or tactics - have at it but joking about his disability is wrong. -

Oh please, take your pulpit elsewhere. Sorry Iso, I don't have one. Just out of curiosity, do you have any family members or close friends who have a disability? -
Solo wouldn't this accelerate their need for a new center since they don't have one anymore? Han don't think so. They could either sign another band-aid, hope someone on the roster can step up or hope whoever they draft can step in immediately.
-
I doubt this changes Ottawa's draft strategy since they would have likely known Hage would only play a year, maybe 2 more at most.
-
When he left Saskatchewan some of the defensive players commented that there was no playbook under Etch.

I didn't like the idea of it back then either. Here's why I find the idea of a coalition between 3 parties undesirable.... They have too many differences between them and it's just a power grab. As much as the system isn't set up that way, the simple fact of the matter is people elected a specific party to govern and they did not want some amalgamation of other parties to run the country. And that's a very sensible reason to be against it. It's the hypocrisy of people who criticize the Liberals, NDP and Bloc for trying but seem to think it was okay when the Conservatives tried. The difference (and Im not condoning it) is that Paul Martin was not elected to be Prime Minister by the voters. Lets not debate the nuances of our political system. When most Canadians vote, they are voting for the Prime Minister which is why the poll of "who do Canadian view as most Prime Ministerial" is very important. Wrong. Harper tried it after the 2004 election which the Liberals under Martin won a minority government. -

You call it "political correctness" while I call it "human decency". -
He tried the NFL. Signed with a couple of different teams. Was injured when he was with Dallas and was on the Jets PR for a while but he was released in August, 2013 and is now a FA.

So when the Conservatives tried to form a coalition with the NDP and Bloc Quebecois when Martin was PM, Harper was conspiring with separatists to usurp power too. There you go... I responded to the rest of the post.. Still doesn't change the fact that making fun of a person's paralysis is really low regardless of your politics.
