  1. IIRC BC tried to sign him but he turned them down.
  2. There aren't 2 bye weeks back-to-back like in previous years. Every team will have 2 bye weeks but they are staggered throughout the season. The schedule will be set up like it was when the Renegades were playing: http://www.cfl.ca/schedule/year/2005/time_zone/0 No it won't be the same as when the Renegades played, and that's why they need an extra week. There won't be any teams that have to play 2 games in a week because of the schedule imbalance. To balance it, everyone gets 2 bye weeks. Schedule will likely need to move up a week in future years, unless they are willing to have a December Grey Cup. Everyone got 2 bye weeks and it was a 20 week schedule when the Renegades played.

  4. Jyles wasn't declared to be the starter. Sure he was. Maybe by the media but I don't recall LaPo making the declaration.

  6. From the Sun: http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/02/06/cfl-schedule-expected-to-be-revealed-next-week
  7. Was that in the print edition? That's the second reference I've come across to "today's Sun" where I haven't been able to read the story in the online edition. Print edition. Here's an excerpt:
  8. From what was in today's Sun, sounds like Ford won't be back.
  9. Some of may question the abilities of Marcel Desjardin but I don't think he would trade Glenn for a guy who is going to be a free agent on Tuesday.
  10. Congratulations to Henoc.
  11. I think Huff was hoping and praying that Ottawa would take Tate off of his hands instead of Glenn. And yet the first thing Hufnagel did after the expansion draft was extend Tate's contract.
  12. Can't see Hufnagel trading Tate. Hufnagel has made it obvious he likes Tate a lot more than fans do.
  13. There is no way Hamilton will dangle Glenn to anyone given he's under contract to Ottawa.
  14. I'm not sure about that. If it was a different GM who gave this contract (ie Buono, Hufnagel, Barker) then I would be inclined to agree. Jacquie, the salary cap is going to go up. If it goes up to $5 million it stands to reason that the contracts for qbs will be substantially more. And that teams will carry more than just one qb capable of starting. I heard that entire interview. Hank's agent called the new tv contract "A brave new world". And he said that some GMs see it coming & are preparing while others are not. This is a player agent talking, a guy whose clients include Burris & Ricky Ray. Not some fan talking out of his hat. He knows what will be happening. You can listen to the entire interview on CHQR in their audio vault. Just check the date & time I started this thread as the interview was just about to begin. Jacquie listen for yourself & decide. Matter of fact, I'd encourage everyone to listen. Just remember the time difference. I'm not saying QB salaries won't rise. I'm just not sold that Burris' contract has set some new standard given Desjardin has a history of paying stupid amounts of money on a QB. Printers' contract certain didn't set some new standard so I'm taking a wait and see approach on how much Burris' contract will.

  16. And for those who claimed the idea of the NFL having an interest in Henoc was a joke, here's what Penton wrote: http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/02/05/losing-muamba-just-salt-in-the-wound-for-blue-bombers I believe the Bombers were already offering him that.
  17. Have to agree with this. However, there have been signs that this team has a different attitude under Maurice. You mentioned adversity and how they respond to it. If you look things at a game by game basis, they have been markedly better after giving up goals under Maurice than Noel. Little things like that give me hope. Plus, I like that it hasn't been 10-11 straight wins or something. They've had a couple of losses that they needed to rebound from already and they've do so succesfully. The olympic break will be huge. Will it kill momentum or be a much needed rest? It'll be nice to have Kane back 100% after the break (hopefully) and coming from the NCAA where they play a pretty short season, Jacob Trouba could probably use some time to rest and recharge. I hope they are able to put in some practice time during the break so they can fully implement Maurice's system.
  18. If Glenn acts like he always has, he won't be a problem. I'm hoping as he has never been a part of the Ottawa organization on the field, he does tell the RedBlacks to go suck on an egg. Still you have to wonder if screwing around Glenn could potentially cause a split in the dressing room and whether it could have an impact on potential FAs signing there.
  19. SMS-wise they can afford to take Glenn to camp but can they afford to take one (possibly 2) unhappy QB(s) to camp. Could end up causing problems in the locker room.
  20. Hopefully Monday. Squeeze it in after everyone is back from Ottawa and before FA starts.
  21. That's what the media says. There hasn't been an announcement yet.
  22. How is he contradicting himself by not wanting to give up the 2nd overall pick for an injury prone QB.
  23. Weak doesn't mean you can't get a good player with the 2nd overall pick or do you consider a third round pick to be a high pick.
  24. He should have at least traded his rights to an NFL team and got SOMETHING for the guy, now he's lost him for nothing. You can't trade his rights to an NFL team. It's not allowed. Thanks for clearing that up. I haven't had my morning caffeine yet. My sarcasm detector isn't fully functional yet. Forgive me.
  25. Signing bonus will mean little. The NFL limits the amount of bonus money teams can spend on certain FAs (undrafted FAs, CFL FAs who haven't been signed by the NFL previously) to something like $70,000 total (not per player).
