  1. Are you referring to Chris and not Khari?
  2. Talk about something being overblown. He said the drive from the airport was desolate, not the the city.
  3. No team is going to ask or be given permission to speak to a coach while the other team is still playing.
  4. Nothing wrong with Danny M -- he'll be fine -- the problem is towards the end of the piece where they talk about how "tight" KJ is with Miller, yadda yadda. Just seems so... business as usual in Bomberland. Yeah, read that & thought the same thing. Here we go again.... Penton says one thing, Bob Irving says something different so why not wait until someone is actually hired before be concerned it's "business as usual". Might save you a few grey hairs that way.
  5. removed post
  6. I've never taken that route but from looking at the Google satellite map it does look rather desolate. Simmons is a jackass. He thinks every city in Canada outside of Toronto is a wasteland. While I don't disagree about his being a jackass, I doubt he feels that about every other city - probably just cities not called Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary (since he was there for a lot of years) and possibly Edmonton. And he didn't say Regina was desolate - just the drive from the airport. The same thing could be said about that drive in a lot of cities.
  7. Len Rhodes told Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun: The original question was whether other teams had CEOs making football ops decisions. In that context it doesn't matter whether it was Pinball or C&S who made the decision on acquiring Joseph.
  8. I've never taken that route but from looking at the Google satellite map it does look rather desolate.
  9. In terms of the Ray trade, I'm sure even Jim Popp would need Wetenhall's approval if Jim decided he wanted to trade Calvillo, IMO Franchise players are a bit of a different situation. How did the Joseph trade end up for the Argos ? BTW it was actually Pinball that brought in Joseph, Cynamon and Sokolski (the former owners) are the guys that brought us Bart Andrus. Wetenhall is a hands on type of owner, he always meets with the HC candiates before they are hired etc. McKnight isn't a franchise player yet giving up a 1st round pick for him without consulting anyone was listed as one of the reasons Tillman was fired. In late 2008 Pinball was named Vice-Chair of the Argos after stepping down as President. Cynamon and Sokolski were the team owners at the time. Whether it was Pinball or C&S doesn't really matter that much since either way it was interfering with football ops. Regarding Wettenhall, you're proving my point.
  10. Won't be back doesn't have to mean fired. He was hired as a consultant and became OC. Maybe he didn't want to be more than a consultant. He is 65.
  11. In my comments about Ticat fan trolls I specifically said not Zontar. Also I don't consider a fan of another team to be a troll if they come on forums to discuss football. It's the ones who come on and are rude and disrespectful that are trolls. I don't know who I will cheer for. Probably neither team. I just want a good game and whoever wins wins.
  12. Just seems like a strange combo; OL coach and assistant head coach. You mean like DL coach and assistant HC?
  13. According to GCn11 at TEP, Rod Pederson reported the Riders were about $400,000 over the cap at one point this season.
  14. Of course they are. Rider fans can be incredibly annoying but that doesn't change the fact that there some really bad Ticat fan trolls.
  15. Wow, have you lived a sheltered life. For every one bad Ti Cat poster there are 500 Priders on the internet throwing around ****.I agree with blueandgoldguy. There are too many Ticats fans that troll other teams message boards whereas Rider fan DBs seem to stay closer to their home base in my experience.
  16. Or maybe just swap 1st rounders and throw in a 3 rounder as well.
  17. Did anyone else read the thread title and immediately think of Big Bird from Sesame Street?
  18. This is probably way off base but they did that thing on the sidelines about the battery powered hand warmers the receivers had and the glove Glenn was using saying something about it being an advantage. Any possibility it was actually a detriment. No I'm not saying it was the reason for the drops and fumbles - just a factor along with other things.
  19. I don't know who I'll cheer for. I've come across too many obnoxious Ticat fans at various message forums (not Zontar) to cheer for them but if the Riders win Rider Nation will be unbearable.
  20. I seem to recall reliable posters at RiderFans taking about Hobson being involved in some decisions other hiring a GM such vetoing trades, doing second interviews with head coaching candidates (iirc Milanovich was a candidate when Marshall was hired and Hoppy said no to Milanovich after meeting with him). Tillman had to get the approval of both the incoming and outgoing team presidents in Edmonton to make the Ray trade and one of the reasons they gave for firing him was trading a 1st round pick for McKnight without discussing it with the higher ups. Argos former owners made a trade without input from the GM iirc (Joseph trade). The Argos were a winning team until that trade was made. Als' owner was the one who made the decision to fire Hawkins and have Popp replace him.
  21. But both Kent Austin and Scott Milanovich BOTH won the grey cup in their rookie year as a HC!!! At TEP, fansince79 posted a listed of 22 coaches who won the GC in their rookie year as HC over the past 40 years. No list of coaches who lost in the GC their rookie year as HC (ie Trestman) so can't say how many rookie HCs have gone to the GC overall.
  22. Ricky Ray made that look easy.
  23. That sounds dumb. Why would someone not be happy to be offered a promotion? Because he's trying to prepare for the Western Finals and doesn't want any distractions.
  24. Chamblin had 3 years as a DB coach and 1 as a DC before becoming HC while Khari has 4 years as a QB coach and 1 as OC but it's different for Chamblin because he was in Calgary and Hamilton and Khari was in Hamilton and SK?
  25. Denmark has had the same receivers coach since he's been in the CFL.I seem to recall Howell was a defensive and ST coach his first year. Was he also working with the receivers? He was the the defensive back coach in his first year (with Lapo).. Walters was ther ST coach then and we have an American receivers coachOn his second year he was moved from the defense to offense as receivers coach (still with Lapo) and Burke retained him to that position I didn't mean ST coordinator. I seem to recall he helped Walters with ST.
