I'm basically being devil's advocate here but how much of that is due to the mess he was left with by Popp? We don't know what their cap situation is like and how that affected their roster. To paraphrase Doug Berry - maybe that was the best they could afford with some of the contracts they had. Given the way the Als were playing is it a surprise that Chapdelaine was fired especially since he was forced on Reed? The offence was struggling to say the least and that can be put on Chapdelaine's shoulders as well (his offence, he was calling plays). As surprised as people were about Thorpe being fired, I wasn't after thinking about it. Remember how Thorpe reacted when Reed was named assistant head coach over him - he tried to resign and go to Edmonton. Who knows how he would have reacted to being passed over as interim head coach. I can't help but wonder whether Reed felt he couldn't trust Thorpe. Based on some things that were said by current and former players it makes me question whether Thorpe had the respect of the team. Here's a question for those with long memories - how many GMs have been fired after their first year?

First I disagree that the fan was robbed of a million dollars but that's already been discussed to death. Second, why should the head ref be punished for that call. He didn't throw the flag and he can't force an official to pick it up.

Not sure I like this. As long as it's an extra week at the start and not the end. They have also ended full contact practices effectively immediately.
