I think some people considering it racist has to do with the fact that people seem to refer only to illegals from Mexico and not all countries. For example, would a white illegal from Canada or Europe be treated differently from an illegal from Mexico.

Trump has already backtracked (at least partially) in a number of promises. The wall has now become a wall and a fence. Special Prosecutor regarding Clinton is not a priority. Illegal immigrants with criminal records will be subject to immediate deportation - not all as he had promised. Has no plans to try to have gay marriage overturned - says he supports it. His new Chief of Staff put out a press release about his appointment with comments about completely repealing Obamacare while Trump has said he will keep the main parts of it and change other parts of it. A number of these things will certainly not make a number of his core supporters happy.

I wouldn't say 7 years as a State Senator and 3 years as a US Senstor is almost zero. And he is leaving office with the US better off than it was when W left.

Most likely that tweet was written by a staffer and not Trump. Anything remotely coherent and conciliatory usually is.

IIRC it was always supposed to be for just the regular season but because it was voted on and awarded in the spring it usually went to the coach of the GC winning team. Moving the award to GC week makes sense.
