  1. Jim Barker started the Hufnagel rumor.Kirk Penton started the Chamblin rumor. Lawless started the Chamblin rumour.
  2. If you read my posts I didn't say Murphy shouldn't be hired. I asked a question because so many people complain about hiring inexperienced people and then when there might be an opening they tout another person with no experience in that position. I'm not even going to consider a replacement until it's official that Walters is leaving.
  3. Or Dave Dickenson... Now that's funny.
  4. There's a plus for Murphy. He does have experience Jacquie, Read his bio. He's already doing the job that full time GMs do. He has since 2010. And Hufnagel just sits there and twiddles his thumbs. I don't think so. I've read his bio and he's an assistant GM who has no experience running the show. Hufnagel makes the decisions, not Murphy. Of course Huff makes the final decision. He's his boss but Murphy does all the work & comes to him with his recommendations, You think Huff does the scouting? Even Lawless today on TSN 1290 acknowledged Murphy is an extraordinary recruiter. If you look at his bio at Stampeders.com, he negotiates contracts, he monitors the waiver wire, he preps the neg list, he's in charge of FA camps, manages the salary cap, he recruits FA players & helps prepare the CFL draft for Huff. Yeah, Murphy does nothing & contributes nothing to the Stampeders. He's just a lowly assistant gofer who fetches coffee & bagels for Hufnagel everyday.Washes Huff's SUV when it gets dirty.Maybe cuts his grass in summer & shovels his walk in winter. I even posted a link so someone like you can read it yet you still don't want to believe anything it says. What's the point in posting links like you demand when you don't believe what they say anyway? Talk about being overly dramatic. Where did I say Murphy does nothing - answer: NOWHERE. He's not the only assistant GM who does that stuff. Michael Petrie is an assistant GM with the Stamps too and if you read his bio it says "He works closely with head coach/general manager John Hufnagel on the club’s general football operations and football-related strategic planning. He is responsible for management of the salary cap, all football budgets and expenditures and he assists with contract structuring and negotiating." Fact remains no matter what he does for the Stamps he has no GM experience.
  5. Agree. The Guelph job is a job for life move. And free education for the kids?? Not much to contemplate. IMO....I'm guessing we're looking for another GM. Hope Walters stacks the Bombers before/if he leaves. BOD Breaking News. Bellefuelle will bereleased from his OC job and become Bombers new GM. I know that applies to NCAA management/coaches but I've never heard of that for CIS staff.
  6. Umm, no. His history showed exactly what kind of OC he was and last year just demonstrated more of the same. You hire mediocrity, don't be surprised when you get mediocrity. MB has been and always will be mediocre. A smart football mind recognizes this. Might that have been a reason his was available mid-season in 2013?He was still getting paid by Hamilton at the time and was on a tour of NFL camps to further his knowledge of offences. Yea, I've heard that excuse before. Let me just say that if he was a top notch coordinator, he would not have been on the market long. Look at Richie Hall and others. You get to have time off because no one really thinks you'd be an upgrade over what they already have. Except for us, we managed to hire an OC so bad that MB was actually a step up and then we decided (incredibly) that he was good enough to keep. It's sad when mediocre is good enough instead of "good enough until we can get a real OC" Bellefuille was coaching in Omaha in 2012. And look at Lapo and others. Lapo was considered a pretty good OC but wants to be a HC so he has turned down OC positions offered since he was fired here.

  8. Just curious, how many people who want Murphy if Walters leaves have criticized the Bombers in the past for hiring GMs and HCs with no previous experience. There's a plus for Murphy.
  9. And the mental mistakes. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Bob Dyce when they showed him after that time out was called too early.
  10. The Riders keep finding ways to beat themselves. Why should that have been a safety. He wasn't in the end zone when he was tackled.
  11. Interesting. Walters suggested Henoc was looking for a one year deal; just the rest of this season. Doesn't mean Walters and others are wrong.
  12. Good thing the Denmark call didn't have a significant impact on the game.Occasionally I might be inclined to review the rules of the CFL. That would probably just get me cranked up and angry with the caliber of the refs and command center. This drives me nuts. But I won't rag on the CFL officials. All officiating everywhere is like that. I remember a couple of years back - in hockey, last game of the year which was setting up the Oilers for yet another first overall pick. They were playing LA (in LA) and Horcoff was going in on goal and got high sticked in the mouth, he was bleeding and the whole bit. Ref was staring right at it. No penalty. Few minutes later, an Oiler put a slight hook on a King for about .5 seconds (literally) and that same Ref called a hooking penalty. Really? Lucky for them the game was in L.A. Meaningless game for the Oilers - the Kings needed the win IIRC to make the playoffs (and they won the Cup) but how can an official get away with that? All I've asked for in my officiating is consistency. If it's a penalty on one team (or one player) then the call should be made both ways. One day we'll have robotic refs - won't that be sweet. It's Pretty black and white. Does the force out rule exist or not? The force out rule exists. If the official believes the receiver would have landed in bounds if he wasn't pushed or carried out then it is ruled a completed pass. Watching the play at game speed it wasn't obvious whether Denmark would have stayed in bounds if he hadn't been touched. As for the Command Centre, making a determination of whether or not a receiver was pushed or carried out of bounds is a non-reviewable play. The only thing the Command Centre could rule on was whether Denmark kept a foot in bounds.
  13. You're assuming there would be a next year on Henoc's contract.
  14. Since it's not the Winnipeg media, I would go with slanting. Funny the articles says he should pull in around $200,000 while Lawless says around $250,000.
  15. Apparently MLB sets the schedule and they won't make changes.
  16. Both the Montreal tour stop and meeting up with Bombers while there, both posted yesterday.... ...But yes....indeed........ Oops! Old news travels fast.
  17. And it's now being reported that Henoc's next stop on his grand tour is Montreal this weekend. I guess he could meet the Bombers coaching staff while there too.
  18. The minimum contract is 1 year as of the last CBA.
  19. This is exactly what I'm getting at. We've seen tons of highly touted built for the CFL qbs come up here and flame out. Until he proves himself he's just another prospect qb. Somewhat agree here. Not that I'm disappointed in the signing - I think it's good. But right now he's on our PR only. If he proves he has any sort of feel for the Canadian game I could see him supplanting Brohm once Willy is back though, with Nichols as the backup and Davis back to the PR (if Boyd impresses more than Davis). Though I see it more as a "Here's how are league works and looks like, try to learn the game and if we like what we see we'll give you a contract to come back next year to compete for a spot in our TC - you'd have a leg up on any other rookie" kind of thing. Smart play actually - and it's a conditional pick (7th rounder lol) so I doubt it's anything huge unless he ends up as our starter Guessing you didnt feel like reading.. Its a swap of picks. If he starts x amount of games we swap that rounds pick. So we dont even lose a pick. IIRC it's how many games he is on the active roster for next season, not how many starts. Sweet. Even better! Wonder why Austin was so eager to move him.. Didnt like hamilton or felt it was a dead end? Eager to move him? Not really. Tajh was eager to play in the CFL and being on Hamilton's negotiation list, they have to offer him a contract. Seen as how they have Collaros, Masoli and Mathews ... not really much room for him, so instead of losing him for nothing, they knew he was highly regarded enough that they could get something for him. Everytime I have seen Massoli play he didn't look good at all. and mathews is unproven too.. just seemed odd to me that they moved him.. maybe he didnt like the look of trying to get ahead of the incombents and was pushing for a contract.. Boyd was put on the Ticats' neg list by O'Billovich. Austin wanted to go with his guys so he traded his rights when Boyd started talking about wanting to try the CFL.
  20. Although I couldn't put it so eloquently, I agree. This is nothing more than a sham/stalling technique for a return to the NFL. I don't believe they are seriously considering the CFL, unless there is some jaw-dropping numbers that I don't believe any team can provide anyways.Quite the little play for drama, but let's get serious, he doesn't have to visit all the cities...he's been there, and knows all the offers. He would be on a roster by now. They're wasting our time and we can tell them to call us, if and when they get serious. you cannot be serious. this os a crutial point in his career! he deserves to take all the time he wants, hes earned it. so what if he takes a week to check out his options.. he IS essentially the toast of FA players for the CFL.. im actually quite stunned anyone feels that hes abusing his position or dicking around.. sure stalling for a week to see if he can get another NFL shot seems odd to you but this is essentially his make or break time.. give him time to chose his destiny. Then Henoc should go home & let his agent do the work he's paying him to do by talking to the CFL teams, weigh the offers & then discuss what team is the best fit for Henoc. Just like every other player has done in the past. Not this sham. And sign with a team tomorrow. Not draaaaaaaaaaag it out for weeks. Week. Its been a week hasnt it? After Henoc was released by the Colts, his agents said they wanted offers by September 8. He had his try-out with the Giants the same day they wanted offers in by. It's been over a week and a half since he was released by the Colts and it looks like he won't be making a decision until sometime next week at the earliest since we have no idea whether his tour is close to over. Then add in the comments by Walters and others that Henoc's agent is looking for a 1 year deal. You don't see how that can be a little frustrating to both fans and teams.
  21. Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk 3h3 hours ago #Argos announce their Oct. 6 home game against the #RedBlacks will now be held in Ottawa. Stupid Blue Jays and Rogers.
  22. Going on a grand tour and taking 2 weeks to decide where to play for 2-1/2 to 3 months is excessive to say the least. If he wants to try the NFL next season then sign a 1 year contract right away and save the grand tour for the off-season.
  23. When all is said and done when he signs a contract it better be for longer than one year.
  24. No. J-Homo is no more. You're almost as bad as Nate with that stupid spelling.
  25. What does uns stand for? Unsigned REM UNS - Player was on practice roster and released/removed from CFL.ca Weird. So i guess released/removed and unsigned (released from contract?) Weird letter choices. Not weird. A player can be removed unsigned which would be released or removed signed which would mean he was added to the active roster.
