Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion

"Friends" is a relative term. If two people know each other, that doesn't automatically make them friends. And if it does, you'd be hard-pressed to find many working relationships in the CFL that didn't start that way, with someone hiring someone else that they are familiar with. O'Shea was a senior at Guelph when Walters came in as a rookie, and they were on opposite sides of the ball (Walters was an RB at the time). They played a grand total of one season together in Hamilton. Exactly. And when O'Shea was hired, he and Walters said after that the only times they got together was at football conferences. -

Brohm never played for Bellefuille. Brohm was in Hamilton when Cortez was HC. -
Gale's been in the CFL for 3 seasons and has 21 pass attempts. He was the short yardage QB in 2014 but otherwise has not had regular reps at QB. Marve alone has more on-field experience than Gale.

Crompton was injured in the first game of this season. He started practicing in late August but wasn't 100% then.

The Sun reported that $150,000 of Willy's $265,000 salary was paid as a bonus.

Willy is making the same this year as he did last year. His new contract doesn't come into effect until next season. Usually extensions in the CFL come into effect immediately as the remaining contract is ripped up and renegotiated. Willy would be an exception if he's playing out his last contract. He is definitely playing under his new contract. You're right. My mistake but he is still playing for the same money as last season.

As much as you seem to think otherwise MOS is going nowhere. Learn to accept thatWalter won't fire O'Shea.Save his ass he might. If I was a GM I'd never hire a friend to be a HC. That way if I have to fire the coach, I'm not destroying a friendship so there'd be no second guessing or regret. My conscience would be clear. How many times does it need to be said that Walters and O'Shea were NOT friends when O'Shea was hired. -
Apparently the earlier report was in error. CFL Transactions has Marve being put on the 6 game.

Yep. Every team seems to recruit/develop good backup QBs except for us. You're jealous of BC having a 34 year old QB who threw for 114 yards, threw 2 INT and has a total of 75 pass attempts (including tonight) in 2 seasons in the CFL. -
Oh c'mon! None of you know what type of relationship O'Shea has with the players or how he interacts with them in the locker room.

I know I am but when analyzing MOS's demeanor is the most interesting thing there is to do, what does that say ... a new QB in town and I can't get excited ... yawnI think his demeanor has more to do with idiot "questions" from guys like Lawless. If I had to deal with his long-winded lead-ups to a yes/no question everyday I wouldn't be so engaging either.I've watched every MOS presser. That was a pretty standard one.I've watched quite a few and it seemed pretty ordinary to me but Lawless' opening "questions"/comments we're beyond horrible. If its today's presser, pretty sure that's Paul Friesen. That sounds like Lawless going on about with Willy out, too soon for Nicholls and Marve not being back to practice tomorrow if that meant it was between Brohm and Davis to start to me. Certainly his style.

1) O'Shea has not named the starter yet. 2) You would really start a QB who has had only 2 or 3 practices with a new team?

I got this creepy feeling listening to MOS ... it was his demeanor, his tone, the jadedness and an aura of resignation, inevitability ... signs of a dead man walking? I don't know ... it was the opposite of engaging, of that I am sure I think you are over-analyzing things.

Maybe waiting until he actually signs although the RedBlacks did announce they had agreed to terms.

@garylawless - "#1 candidate w/ that board is Eric Tillman. They're going to try & get him back in Saskatchewan" #CFL #Riders via @CFLonTSN @garylawless - "I think he's (Eric Tillman) probably the next GM of the Saskatchewan Roughriders." #CFL #Riders via @CFLonTSN Jamie Nye @jamienye 10h10 hours ago Tillman will definitely be talked to by #Riders. No doubt in my mind... but I still think best odds are on O'Day as full-time guy

Why should we have to release anyone to sign Wild. Why do people think we can't afford Wild and Simmons. Other teams do it so can we.

This will make the Labour Day game and Banjo Bowl more interesting.

And they are welcome to him. He shows every indication that his problems are bigger than his talent. CFL recognizes NFL suspensions.
