2021/22 - CFL Offseason - Non-Back-to-Back Grey Cup Champion Thread

Stop pretending there is a quick fix to grab fans. Changing rules won't win fans. Boots on the ground grass roots long term thinking is the only way to foster new long term fans. -
Fun fact! you can reclaim oil sands mining back to the way it was before quite easily and the tailings aren't nearly as toxic and can be much more easily dealt with. (the assumption of course being that governments hold companies accountable for actually doing the reclamation) I know everyone wants to bang hard on the "oil and gas is the worst thing ever!" drum, but it's really not as bad as people make it seem. Heavy metal extraction is a much bigger issue environmentally but everything now is greenhouse gasses this or climate change that.
-
So first fact doesn't contradict the post you are quoting, both talk about it depending on the source of electricity. Second fact I don't think anyone ever thinks of the greenhouse emissions for production.... this is what I was saying before about how environmental issues = greenhouse gasses. Heavy metal mining is ******* brutal on the environment. The tailings ponds are toxic for pretty much ever and you can't reclaim the land nearly as easily.

Dumbass Jr. flat out said they don't care if american banks lend them money, they get all the money they need from russia. It's been in plain sight from the get go.
-
my kids are under 5... not it's unlikely things would get bad, but I don't want to enter them into the bad luck lottery. Sooner they approve a vaccination for under 5 the better.
-
Jesus ******* christ....this isn't about oil and gas, this is about pollution! And yes plastics are largely derived from oil products but plastic pollution is different than greenhouse emissions and climate change.
-
Well except for those that don't.
-
plastics are a good one, still a whole lot of deforestation going on in the world, there's all sorts of pollutants going into water ways. I just find the singular focus on environmental policy being climate change is a really, really narrow way to look at environmental issues.

barf. CFL agrees to sell fans marketing data in a desperate attempt to attempt to crowd source a marketing strategy. I hate this world. -
how about some focus on topics that aren't just greenhouse gases?
-
sorry but the only type of pollution is CO2 pollution. The masses have spoken. It really saddens me that CO2 dominates the discussion so much.

If only there had been some expert guidance from people who study these things governments could have listened to...

It's only a problem if they don't address it if neither of the returnees steps up. What in his time here makes you think that Kyle walters will just stand pat if there is an obvious issue on this team? If there's a need he damned we'll goes out and gets what he needs. Case in point... that season that wasn't great and only the playoffs were great... well that season was hampered by an injury to his starting qb... so he went and got another qb for the playoff run.... -

Well for one thing kickers can get better... especially young ones. -
Jack Layton was as greasy a politician as there was. Not sure how he gifted so many people into believing otherwise. Never liked that guy. Pssst, international women's day was a few days ago...
-
Sorry for your tough upbringing.

Sadly they don't any more. They stand for social conservatism, corporate welfare and fiscal irresponsibility. Slashing taxes to starve the beast is bad policy. The closest thing we have to progressive conservatives in this country right now are the Liberals. They are pro business without the ideologically driven aspects of the current batch of conservatives. It's just too bad Trudeau is such a dope.
-
The liberals absolutely did not squander oil money. Since natural resources are provincial it is the provinces predominantly gaining financially from oil and gas. None moreso than Alberta with it's near half century of conservative rule... how's the heritage fund looking? Awwwww crap. Now granted they kept our taxes low so yay for that... but it might have been nice to have more savings in the bank for those rainy days. Please God, just one more boom, I promise not to piss it away this time
-
Oh the argument is perfectly clear: Trudeau bad! Lefties bad! Liberals bad! It's just too bad that the people who bang that drum the loudest are the least likely to actually step back and look critically at the big picture. I have said repeatedly that I am not a huge fan of Trudeau or the Liberal party but I can clearly see that they offer a lot more to this country than thr conservatives do. Don't even get me started on the BS claims of fiscal responsibility. Conservatives use that as an excuse to gut public services and throw in a boutique tax cut to pretend they are helping the country.
