The tax rate isn't a big driver of whether a business is located somewhere or isn't. So your choice is flat out incorrect.
-
So we should keep on giving them a break? Like Jason Kenney did in Alberta only to see companies take the money and still leave?
-
Stop giving tax cuts to big business and tax the super wealthy higher. Stop downloading the tax burden onto the middle class and cutting services and making it up with user fees.

Your doctors advice is crap and I'd look for a new one. The flu vaccine isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing AND we don't get flu shots for ourselves, we get them for the vulnerable in our society. Same reason we all have to stay home and avoid other people over covid. It's no wonder the hard core right wingers hate it so much. It's doing a selfless thing for the common good. Selfish people hate that.
-
And when we have a vaccine for covid19 you won't see these measures either. Jesus keep up. Also stop using very early death rates. For example in alberta there are currently 2 or 3 new deaths every day. How long do you think it will take to catch up. Stop using bullshit logic. That might fly in echo chambers where everyone wants to hear the same thing but in the real world, with people who are capable or critical thought it's not gonna fly because anyone with half a brain can see that these are crap arguments. No one is dismissing the economic impact. It's gonna suck, but the world will just have to change and adapt. No more wealth hoarding. Those rich folks will have to help the rest of society out for a change.

Oh you're an anti-vaxxer too? Let me take you even less seriously. Get a brain Moran.

So you don't like to read eh? Cause you took nothing that I wrote in my post for your response. This is why you are ignorant. I don't know if it is willful ignorance or simply that you're slow but until such time as you can actually read and understand the arguments being presented pipe down while the grownups are talking.
-
yeah the whole point here is to slow the spread (not stop it, that can't be done) but mearly slow it down enough to avoid overwhelming the health care system and hopefully buying time for improved treatments and a vaccine.
-
Well I and many many others get a flu shot each year... There are lots of places that restrict visitation during flu season to try and help from vulnerable people getting it.... So yeah we do take precautions. Here is where you apparently fail at logic, this is a new virus that no one on the planet had any immunity to. That means we are all susceptible to it, unlike the flu which there are people with immunity to, because it's been around for a long time and we have a vaccine for it. Stop trying to come up with a smart sounding argument and use a little logic.
-
give it time. You have this really bad habit of looking for an entire seasons worth for the flu and the very start of a pandemic... AND you are being completely dishonest about it any because our country is taking unprecedented measures to slow the spread of this thing. If we all had your attitude towards it you'd damned sure see more than 1 death from Covid in Manitoba (a number which is sadly going to climb). And further to that, it's not an either or situation here! each death from Covid is a death that is added onto other deaths. I mean even Trump and his loyal band of idiots have given up this stupid "the flu is worse" argument because it doesn't hold any merit at all.

The biggest impediment is that the oil and gas industry paid so much more. No other industry wants to compete with those wages.
-
Again, just because oil was humongous doesn't mean Alberta has nothing else. Oil just completely blew things out of control. I mean even with the oil industry depressed and people in alberta feeling like the end times it still has an economy that many other provinces would love to have.
-
Toronto has entered the chat.
-
True story, I was going to put decades but didn't want to come across as overly dramatic.
-
Alberta has a pretty diverse economy actually (well it did, but Kenney tried his best to go backwards) It's just that oil and gas was such a behemoth that it dwarfed everything else.
-
But she didn't govern like that. She showed a willingness to put ideology aside to do the right thing. I have already found work in a different sector besides oil and gas, but you know what? The hatchet job Kenney is doing impacts us too since we do a lot of work with school boards and post secondary institutions. So yeah, you all chose to vote on ideological lines and now aren't happy you got the government you voted for. I lost a tremendous amount of respect for my fellow albertans this past election. We will spend years trying to get out of the mess Kenney leaves us, assuming people smarten up next time.
-
Maybe you should apologize. Kenney flat out said in the campaign he was going to govern from an ideological point of view, and the NDP were really not your typical NDP at all. They were pretty pragmatic and doing a good job. I ain't no NDP shill of loonie lefty, but you and the rest of this promise were willfully ignorant thinking a provincial government could do anything about the oil sector. I would say it serves every single one of you right, but it also impacts me and my family so I'm fuxking bitter that the ignorance and greed have ****** us all like this.
-
You know I did try and warn you that he was an ******* not worth voting for. He is doing exactly what he promised... This is what 70% of the ******* province voted for. I hope you're all very happy. My family doctor said today that he's worried the clinic he is part of will go belly up thanks to Kenney and his cuts. Way to help Alberta.

The key is that a lot of the bailout has to be to workers keeping them able to pay their bills. Which is why I love that the government is going to help cover wages and pay for things like EI. You want a strong economy the way to get it is a robust middle class with lots of spending power. Economic strength isn't a top down thing, it's bottom up. When the lowest class and the middle class can spend you will see a strong economy.
-
Now you sound like a boomer. It's a lot harder to get ahead these days when the value of homes doesn't just skyrocket. Things are more expensive, the world is much more disposable than it used to be, wages don't keep up with inflation. Some of us appreciate the value of money, but it's bloody tough out there.
-
A lot of work and planning goes into things that big though, I understand waiting until as late as possible to cancel.

Says the guy who is borderline obsessed with those movies... jokes on you as it's essentially the same thing, just a different form of media. Books are no more or less nerdy tha movies. Time to face facts, you seem like a nice fellow but you're clearly a nerd. -
