Yeah I don't like that one bit.

Where are you working during the Covid-10 shutdown - March 23rd
17to85 replied to JCon's topic in General Discussion
Last Monday they told us all we're now working from home where we can, but for people in my role that still requires doing some site work and lab work in the office. It's not perfect but I feel like it's a good solution. I hate it though. I am not cut out for the working from home thing, -
It's what the GOP exists for. Rob the poor and give to the rich, but make believe that you actually care about the schmucks who vote for you.
-
Trump is a symptom. The right wing in the states has been priming the population for this type of president for a long time now. The next guy might not be a complete raging idiot, which would be far more terrifying.
-
Well maybe add a mixed home/site option for people like me who are working from home, but still have to go visit sites as well.
-
I almost feel bad for him that he doesn't realize that he is just the useful idiot for the republican party. The crazy right wing voters aren't loyal to him, they're loyal to the Republicans in power, whoever that may be, and Trump is going to be the most epic scapegoat for them. If only the Democrats hadn't sent their double agent to do these things!

$$$$$$ I read that whoever pulls the plug it on the hook so neither the Tokyo people or the IOC want to do it and pay. Now maybe that's nonsense internet news, but seems legit.
-
it's easier for people to think no big deal when it's not serious yet, but you get to a situation like in say italy where there are thousands of deaths happening it sobers people up pretty damned fast. Now I don't think it will get to that point because of the actions being taken now, but still, when it spreads to more and more people it will smarten some of the more stubborn ones up.
-
Yeah the Trump administration has really shown just how broken the system is. The rich are waging war on the plebs. They best be careful they don't go over the line cause the mob outnumbers them by a very significant amount.
-
Fine I'll do it.

Stomping all over the Stamps in the second half of the west semi is a pretty fond memory. Given how many shitty, shitty games I've sat through in that statdium is was very satisfying to see them do that.
-
and yeah the flu kills lots of people... but it's not an either or situation here, this is deaths in addition to what the flu is going to do already. Why be cavalier about that? Some people are just so selfish. Can't handle any disruption in their own lives so they will dismiss all evidence of this being a pandemic and try and justify their selfishness. To hell with those people.
-
It's not hating, it's fighting ignorance. Look if it was just your own health you were putting in jeopardy no one would care, but the wilful idiocy puts everyone at risk and that's just unacceptable. Stop being a selfish jack ass and take it seriously for others. Just look at how exponential the spread is. That's why we need to take it seriously or we'll be like China where they had to put up temporary hospitals just to deal with the number of people getting sick.
-
And this is why it is important to take precautions now, so we don't overwhelm is system. Spread out the rate of infection so we can handle it and maybe by some time for researchers to come up with some treatments that are more effective. Really you want the thing to end quicker infect everyone and let god sort them out, but that isn't a solution so we try and slow the spread so we can manage it.
-
I mean christ, even some one as tone deaf and ignorant as Donald Trump has given up the flu is more deadly garbage argument. ******* selfish people can't make any sacrifices for the good of society.
-
we have to start calling these misguided ideas out or people will just keep spouting this harmful bullshit.
-
Seriously, get your bogus "other side" crap outta here. Downplaying this is how it will spread further. This thing is crazy infectious, and yes the vast majority of people will not have serious issues with it, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take it seriously. It's not bad now, but that's 2 reasons. #1 is the stats are unreliable because a country like China is very much a closed country that won't ever be truthful in order to save face and #2 because in the western world we're still in the early stages of this thing. There has been limited testing and even still you are seeing exponential spread of the thing when it gets here. You want to dismiss it and buy into the anti-intellectualism that's not OK because this affects everyone. Yeah the measures to try and limit the spread so that our health care system doesn't get overwhelmed suck for everyone, but as a society we must work together for the common good. By your attitude I'm gonna guess you're an OK Boomer.

Shhh he's a good digger

I am not hating, I am trying to enlighten you and help you see why this is a big deal. But apparently you've made up your mind. You're wrong, but you ain't changing your mind because feels apparently.
-
Yes Mr. Trump. You know that the american stats are unreliable because of their lack of testing right? In fact any percentage of the population you try and use right now is going to be a highly incomplete number simply because of the testing limitations. Lot of people will get this virus and have no idea that that's what it is because for most people it's going to be just another illness they get in the flu and cold season. It is also highly dubious to compare it to the flu. For one, we have a vaccine for the flu which can prevent further spread and many people have some built up immunity to it. This is a brand spanking new virus, no one has immunity and everyone is susceptible to it. Stop the misinformation in the name of arguing seblantics.
-
My big hope for all of this is a societal shift in priorities. Let's end the "**** you I got mine" era and go back to actually working towards the common good.
-
he is the guy who said that when he looks at himself in the first grade and now there's no difference. by his own admission trump is a 6 year old.
-
Sure, but is there any way that a qb doesn't win this? Which means Reilly or BLM.
-
Ubi shows plenty of evidence of working. And realistically is it going to cost any more than the aid that will already have to be paid by governments? I mean **** the americans are already spending trillions trying to prop up the stock market. How much more impact would trillions have for individuals?
-
I mean it's really simple, you want a strong economy you need a robust middle class with disposable income. It's the bottom rungs that drive an economy not the top 1%. Invest in the lower classes and give the ability to spend money the economy will grow to meet this spending.
