That's because it was based on sound evidence. Vaccine manufacturers stuck to their recommendations purely for liability reasons. They didn't have test data themselves so would not commit to anything they didn't study. But people with a shallow understanding of things took that to mean those companies knew best and the government was making an uninformed decision.

However if less people are getting sick because they're vaccinated doesn't it stand to reason that we will see less tests and a higher positivity rate?

ICU is a lagging indicator so it makes sense it takes longest to fall. Those numbers are the people who got sick and then got bad enough to need the ICU. They will either recover or die and less people will be there to take their place in the ICU but it's behind the case numbers and even hospitalizations.

not to mention that these people forget, or are ignorant to the fact that there are mechanisms in our constitution that allow the government to suspend personal freedoms

Deny what evidence? I am waiting for you to provide some . The evidence for Trump is well documented. So please share all this evidence. Or if we are just supposed to take your word for it thanks for wasting everyone's time.

The Republicans invested a lot of time and energy to find anything on Biden and had to make up **** about Hunter's laptop. So please show some evidence. Same for Hillary Clinton. We will leave Bill out cause he has some skeletons in his closet for sure, but nowhere near what the Republicans have.

That's not exactly 2 tier healthcare though. Maybe it was designed to be a slippery slope towards it but not exactly campaigning on 2 tier Healthcare.

What blows my mind is that people can see this naked authoritarian power grab and shrug their shoulders and think "both sides are the same" Truly do not understand

Ok please show your work on these claims. Let's see specific examples, with legit sources, of all the things the democrats are doing that are exactly the same as what Republicans have been getting away with. I'll wait.

yeah people who weren't in the first age groups have been champing at the bit to get their turn. I was able to get my first shot today. System was pretty slick the whole way through. No complaints at all.

Was speaking about the whole country. Not nearly enough restrictions on people coming in to consider anything that was done a hard lockdown.
  13. 17to85 replied to JCon's topic in General Discussion
Probably more like 4 or 5 weeks, but you are correct. They could done a hard shutdown and stopped this crap in it's tracks. Instead we got pansy governments afraid to make the hard decisions so we dragged this out for over a year now.
  14. that's also nearly 2 decades ago.
  15. Yeah that stuff was for sale right away. Championship merchandise is sold, but I agree with the larger picture stuff. The cfl does miss out on marketing.

I am curious to see how long they wait based on trying to get the first does into the heel draggers. Guess it will be dependent on supply.

They procured an assload though. Short of manufacturing ourselves they did the absolute best they could.

If we should have taken any lessons in the past year it is that delaying actions makes it worse.... yet everywhere governments failed to act and chose instead to hope.

Yeah no kidding eh? Claiming incompetence is a bold strategy. Don't think it's the best one.
  20. It also speaks to the depth they have built up where they feel they don't need immediate help. It's such a huge change from where this team was even 3 or 4 years ago.

Same thing in Alberta. Yes people aren't following the rules, however we have seen for a year now that not enough people will voluntarily follow the rules so they need to have teeth and be enforced. That falls on the government.
  22. 17to85 replied to JCon's topic in General Discussion
Just do the math! You have 30% less cases that's good! Then of the remaining people who do unfortunately get sick more than half won't get seriously sick. Is that not exactly what we want? And as supply grows for this brand ******* new vaccine we can get more people a 2nd dose in a more timely manner.

The single shot was found to be 54.5% effective at preventing more serious results (“severe, critical or fatal”) that line is the most important one from the article. The whole point to spacing them out is to get more people some protection and especially avoid severe illness. So it seems like the science backs that up. I have seen reports showing even higher than 54% effectiveness against severe illness on variants as well. Because that's what he said.

It's like a shitty boy band album cover.
  25. What really needed to happen was to have old man Steve Rogers show up after episode 1 and slap the ***** out of everyone.
