  1. you notice how I lumped Harris in with the guys who make it work cause they are good enough to beat people when they know it's coming right? You notice I also said he feeds the ball to those guys a crap ton right? Andrew Harris being the focal point was always going to get big numbers. It's the other guys who get **** all for numbers.
  2. I don't know how people haven't clued in about Lapo yet.. what the guy does is identify his "star" players and he feeds the the ball over and over and over again. Works great when you got Milt Stegalls and Charlie Roberts or Andrew Harris type players. You know, the guys who can make plays when everyone in the stadium knows it's coming to them, but it's also limiting because it makes for a pretty simple game plan by the opposing defense.
  3. Quick name all the QBs that developed under Lapo's offense... Now let's look at what he did with 2 guys, Willy and NIchols. When Willy started here he was making throws all over the field, but by the time he was done everyone was screaming about how all he did was check the ball down.... So then Nichols replaces him and he's making throws all over the field yet now everyone is complaining that all he does is check the ball down... That's starting to look like a pattern to me. I also feel that Lapo really hindered Streveler by shoehorning him into this gimmick running threat without much threat of passing. Remember the first couple games Streveler played? Guy looked like a passer didn't he? But also a dangerous runner too. Lapo essentially neutered that passing game by giving him a dumbed down play book. I just don't see Pierce putting the reigns on a qb like that. He's a guy who didn't play scared and I believe that as a play caller he will do the same and allow his qbs to play the position without fear of making a mistake. Every qb knows that mistakes happen out there, just gotta shake it off and go make the next play.
  4. using stats to judge receivers in lapo's offense, not a great idea. Wolitarsky had 650ish yards last season, Demski has shown he can put up about the same, Peterman hasn't had the oppotunity to play a lot but every time he does he contributes... it is all about usage with this team. yes Lapo would spread the ball around to a lot of targets, but generally that means one catch for a bunch of different guys. Harris still got the lions share of the plays then the other one or two guys Lapo decided were going to get the ball the rest of the time. It was Demski a lot in the playoffs hence his good play off performance
  5. I will laugh a little bit if Lapo poaches Streveler. I just don't think Lapo really knows how to develop a guy like that and think it would hinder his development. Really think that Pierce though can be the guy to help Streveler become the star he has the potential to be. Pierce understands being a dual threat type qb and having that warrior mentality. I am excited at the idea of Pierce running the show. Really think the biggest problem with Lapo was his in game stuff, and I think a guy like PIerce who has been in there as a player will have a better understandng of when to play it safe and when to go for it.
  6. I am just excited to have a former qb as offensive coordinator. Think that is really going to improve the play calling. Was a huge weakness of lapolice. Guy just lacks that situational awareness in game.
  7. I would agree. I suspect that Harris has lower numbers all around going forward. Demski too. Lapo just loves guys like those two, however I would expect the rest of the receivers to have a ump in the numbers.
  8. Do you remember what he was like as the head coach?
  9. Ottawa will be in every game... and probably play just well enough to lose. It's the lapo way.
  10. Well no offense, but what you don't know could fill a warehouse. No just joking, never pass up an opportunity to use that line. He was mentioned as being interviewed for sure so it isn't out of the blue.
  11. Mcguire showed a lot of good things in the preseason. Definitely a guy that I too want to see more of.
  12. Streveler and Nichols 2 qb system. That's the ticket imo. One vet and one young guy I think is required.
  13. What because a 2nd year qb isn't Doug flutie? Streveler has sky high potential and already has shown some ability as a passer.
  14. a first round pick for a starting qb is a well worthwhile trade. Problem with Collaros is his injury history means you might get him for 1 play or all season or anything in between. That's where the gamble comes in.
  15. Macadoo gets such an unfair rap there. Guy made cofaj look like a qb, i wouldn't be in a rush to move on from him.
  16. And how!
  17. No one told Streveler that.
  18. You missed the point, the point was in past years the defense was awful and even with a good game offensively by Nichols the team lost. If nichols had a good D backing him in BC and against Edmonton in past semi finals he probably walks out with some wins there.
  19. i just wish we had some depth ya know?
  20. This is the stupidest ******* argument in have ever seen. Give nichols the D we saw in this playoffs backing him up he would have won a lot more playoff games. Also calgary this year is not the same as Calgary last year so don't even try and make that comparison.
  21. Everyone has even lost the entire point here. It's not really whether or not Collaros is better than Nichols, he may very well be, but at this point in their careers (pending how Nichols comes back from injuries) they're not so far apart. The entire point here is that it is complete and utter horseshit that people are so willing to downplay everything that Matt Nichols has done for this team.
  22. Some people just have a negative outlook and I honestly feel sorry for them. I don't know how they go through life never truly having any long lasting joy in their lives.
  23. Didn't we have a pretty good 2nd down conversion rate with Nichols most times? The thing collaros does better is elude pressure, I've said that the whole time. But people are really forgetting all the things Nichols did for this team. They are missing the big picture because all their squirrel attention spans can see are the last few games.
  24. No he didn't, so we had to go to another veteran qb. But what did he do to distinguish himself from what nichols was doing? Other than you know, not being matt nichols which is more than enough for people like you regardless of anything else.
  25. Do you even read what I say about Lapo? And **** sakes at least twice tonight I've shown you how Collaros and Nichols put up similar numbers... but yeah, it was ALLLL the awesomeness of Collaros and not this team doing what this team does best. Simple fact is that the problems this team had with Streveler as the starter we twofold. One Lapo used him too much as a running gimmick and two that he turned the ball over more. Collaros being a veteran brought it back more in line with what was happening when Nichols was there because they're both veterans. All you have done is **** all over Nichols and shown nothing that makes Collaros better... unless it's that one throw against Calgary to end the regular season, which was a hell of a play, but still just one play.
