I hope for his sake collaros doesn't play because lapolice will get him killed. Guy does not protect his qbs at all.
-
No he will be allowed, until the first turn over, then it'll be nothing but hand offs.
-
To me questioning the converts is missing the forest for the trees. The question should be, why can't we score more touchdowns period? Why can't we defend better and keep teams out of the endzone period. 2 tds on saturday came because of the D turning the ball over let us not forget.
-
I actually think McGuire is a guy who likes to heave it deep. Seem to remember him doing it a lot in preseason and his first try in calgary he went down field (and I really thought Lucky Whitehead held up on the route partway through and caused it to be over thrown.
-
haha it preceded Carmichael, it was during the time we were letting qbs like Jason Maas set consecutive completion records against us, so 2005 I guess.
-
Plus tanking this game fucks over the Riders so there's always that.
-
heck of a throw and catch, but he did literally nothing to disrupt it. If he had looked back at all he probably easily bats that down. I suspect that because he was getting beaten a lot that he was just focused on trying to run with guys. Years back we had a db was always close to the ball when receivers caught it but could never break up a pass. Forget his name but yeah, being close doesn't matter if you can't break passes up. Receivers in this league can make catches in traffic.
-
Well he probably won't play but not a benching but simply because he's injured and chances are the game won't mean a lot in the final standings and with the bye week in the final week of the season it gives that extra time for the guy to heal for the playoffs. Honestly I don't think Streveler was as bad as people think he was. Yes the int was not a good throw, but Bo Levi MItchell threw a pick and could have thrown another if Fenner had expected the ball to be that badly thrown, it happens in football. The problems with the offense are the same things they have been forever. Lapo has built an offense that relies on Harris and Streveler breaking tackles and dragging guys for extra yards or for Whitehead or Demski to out run guys on short passes and pick up yards after the catch. We don't really have an effective downfield passing game. They're slow and methodical on offense when it works and grind games out. It's fine when you have a lead or are early in a game with time to play that way, but when we need to score quickly this team has nothing.
-
He played that one terribly. He had an awful game in general. Gaitor getting healthy would help the D a ton.
-
I don't buy the crap that Streveler can't hit the tight windows on the mid range passes. He's actually pretty good at it. The long ball is less accurate but the short and intermediate stuff he can put it in where he needs to. When he throws ints it's generally not a case of him being super inaccurate, moreso trying to force a ball that shouldn't go there. Young player problem that. There are lots of examples though of times when he does hit his receivers in tight windows. He has been let down by a lot of things on the offense though.
-
Hell at one point it looked like they did say he was done, Streveler had a moment with McGuire where it seemed he was giving him the pep talk about finishing the game. He was trying to plant his foot to throw and was having issues with that, but it did improve and he was able to make it work and went back in.
-
I will tell you this: is everyone on this team had the heart and will that Streveler and Harris have (Including the coordinators) they'd probably never lose a game. Just can not see Streveler ever succeeding with a guy like Lapo running the offense for him. He is too much a competitor to play in that passive bullcrap game Lapo loves. He needs someone like khari who will give him the green light to be aggressive and force the issue. That's just the kind of guy Streveler is. play it safe isn't his thing.
-
The guy was sprinting up and down the sidelines, yeah he was in pain but he was willing to play through it, if they felt he was going to do more damage they'd never let him do that, so if a guy is hell bent on going in that's his choice.
-
Do you trust our offense to be successful at it? and I mean ****, they coulda covered receivers when the stamps did their 2 pointers, they scored on basically the same play every time. Up and over to the back corner of the endzone.
-
I can tell you from sitting on the Bombers side of the field watching the goings on after he got hurt, there was no force on earth that was going to keep him off the field.
-
So everyone is heaping the blame on Streveler again I see? The guy can play, yes he's young and makes some mistakes ( I didn't like the decision on the INT, however that play was never going to work no matter what Streveler did. Stamps had everybody over there, the dump to the RB wasn't available, the receivers were blanketed, best option would have been to run for a short gain) Lots of times when he did try to throw intermediate he had to put the ball super low for Lawler or Bailey to go down and get because the Stamps dbs were all over the receivers. This team just doesn't surprise people and it makes it hard to be a quarterback on this team. I have said it before, Lapo runs an offense that relies on Harris breaking tackles, and boy did he do that, but it still wasn't enough. D has holes all over it too but that's another issue. Everyone getting hot and bothered by 2 mcguire passes ignores that the receiver didn't catch anything he threw, that's a problem all of our qbs have. We don't put guys in positions to succeed on offense at all. Lapo is the biggest thing holding this team back.
-
yeah it's real nice out there right now, but it's Calgary give it 5 minutes it could turn into a disaster of a day.
-
I ain't convinced Campbell gets fired. The rest are a pretty big gamble and I am especially not sold on Dyce becoming a good one. I just see this team taking the easy way out and going with Lapo if O'Shea is out.
-
Except he is the head coach not the general manager.... Look I am no Ritchie Hall fan on the whole, but let's give the guy some credit, our D was real bad the first few years he was here, but he did change and adapt and I would say the odd notable exception here and there he has put a good to very good defense on the field the past 2 seasons. So he has shown growth with the team and it's defence. The offense started out well the first couple years we had Lapo, but it has stagnated the past couple seasons. Last year we assigned a lot of the blame to that to Nichols playing through an injury to his knee, this year we see a lot of the same issues where things get stagnant with the offense, so it's more ammo that we need a change there. This is why I don't rag on O'Shea for not firing them sooner. He gave them chances to improve things. One guy did the other guy hasn't. But here is the problem with firing Mike O'Shea... There aren't a lot of really interesting options out there for head coach right now and chances are given that he is well liked by most football circles I can see them replacing O'Shea with Paul Lapolice which is not an upgrade. You understand why I want to keep O'Shea now?
-
Guy took entirely too much crap, his biggest flaw was hiring coaches. Lapo and Burke both sucked. As a talent guy he was fine.
-
yeah but you and your ilk would fire people at the drop of a hat. I use 4 years because those first 2 years were rebuilding a sorry assed franchise with nothing in the cupboard.
-
shocking! Tburgess thinks there's problems everywhere!
-
No we are not, and yet a mighty team like Calgary can only average one cup every 5 years... So why are we so antsy after 4 years? We don't even have the luxury of one of the top QBs in the league so that demands more patience still! I mean if we had a guy like Bo Levi Mitchell and had all the problems we got something to talk about, but given we are winning double digits every season, making the playoffs with a combination of Nichols and Streveler at qb... when the best qbs in the league all reside in this conference (Mitchell, Reilly and Harris) some of you expect too much.
-
I look at it this way: Be hard for this to be worse than the West Final in terms of misery in that stadium, which is still far from the worst experiences ever in that stadium. I am optimistic today.
-
Gotta make the playoffs to have a chance to win the Grey Cup. How many Championships does Calgary have in those 15 years they've made the playoffs? I see 3... so one every 5 years on average. We got time.
