A vaccine is a nice dream, but there is no guarantees it will be effective. This virus already shows a propensity to mutate. Most likely outcome is that this turns out like the flu where it's always out there lurking but enough people have some antibodies and we learn more effective treatments that it is not a pandemic. Honestly it isn't the most deadly disease and a big majority of people don't wind up needing treatment to get over it... it's just that right now everyone is vulnerable and our bodies have no defenses to it so we get huge infection rates which is the real danger.

I don't know if that's true to be honest. There will come a point where things will return to normal with or without a vaccine. This has never been about stopping the spread, it has been an exercise in slowing the spread so we can treat the people who need it.

It's another stupid as **** argument anyway. It's a brand new disease, no **** doctors are still trying to figure out the beat way to treat it. Another reason flattening the curve has merit! Buy time for doctors to learn how best to treat patients! Like **** do these people understand anything?

It doesn't matter if it's a low death rate if THIS MANY PEOPLE CONTRACT THE DISEASE. IT WILL LEAD TO A LOT OF DEATHS! This thing spread like wildfire, that's pretty demonstrable. Some people are just either too stupid to understand or too uncaring of their fellow human beings. Or both.

See they think that means they're doing proper research. I had to dig deep to find this! That must mean I'm more informed!

Pretty sure Reagan used the Make America Great Again slogan too. SAD!

I think there is a real chance the Republicans lose the senate, but most likely the democrats do the "healing the nation" bullshit and let them off the hook.

It's not even hoarding, hospitals are buying a bunch of this stuff where they normally wouldn't. As far as masks go, you are probably not likely to find an N95 mask, and procedural masks might be out there, but you can always use a home made mask with a decently heavy fabric. I am sure there are some online guidelines for help there. Just keep in mind that wearing a mask does more to protect others from yourself spreading than it does preventing others from spreading to you.
  14. It's the old adage about hard work trumps talent but hard working talent beats everything. guys with all the tools get all sorts of chances based on that. I think where people like that get tripped up is at lower levels it is possible to just out athlete people and they never had to work to be better than anyone and when the playing field levels off they are unprepared for it.

I work in hazardous materials health and safety, and a regular part of my job is donning a respirator and hazmat suit, our company has basically told us to be frugal with our filters for the respirators, gloves and suits because finding these things is getting hard. Pallets will come in to the suppliers and be gone instantly.

all he had to run on was the economy.
  17. Spoken like a true athlete. Not to diminish your experiences or expertise but I notice that people who do have a high level athletic background value pure athleticism more, and my theory is everyone is looking at things from their own perspective of "if I could do the things that guy does physically nothing would have stopped me" To me the work ethic and attitude and brains are a bigger factor than purely measurables. I mean if you're simply unable to physically perform the task yeah measurables are a big deal, but given that it's a team sport the individual athleticism in my perspective is secondary to a lot of other factors.
  18. Measurables are only a small part of what makes a player good though. There's lots of great athletes taken in the 3rd round. Like I said the measurables don't really matter cause there have been plenty of players who have those measurables and failed to live up to expectations. It takes a lot more than just being a good athlete at the professional level because everyone there is a good athlete. It helps and it's something, but it's not the be all and end all.

Probably not, Trumpy doesn't like hearing bad news so he gets someone to fire people who deliver said bad news.
  20. Boy you sure missed the point... Being a great athlete helps, but everyone in a professional league is a great athlete and it takes more than that to be successful. Everyone here hopes that every single draft pick this team makes works out, but we have all seen too many to count players who have great athleticism fail to make an impact to get excited JUST because a guy is a so called "NFL Athlete" People bring up Simonise because he's a recent example of just that but we can go through a bunch of them. Bottom line every player on this team has to earn their spot and most of us take a wait and see approach to prospects.

Two weeks it will be revised to 150k, then 200k then ever upwards to eventually meet whatever they are currently at and he will pat himself firmly on the back for the great success.

So the USA was heading towards a recession before covid anyway, but the biggest reason their economy is going to be ****** is because the government isn't doing **** to help people or small businesses. Completely different approach to other countries. The economy will recover.

This woman's story changes all the time. How can we believe her when she can't keep a story straight?
  24. 17to85 replied to Rich's topic in General Discussion
well I told you, You equate 2 different scenarios. We do hold them to the same standard. For example, Biden has said let's have an investigation into it, Kavanaugh made an ass of himself. The accuser is changing her story, whereas kavanaugh and the GOP tried hard to bury the whole thing. So stop playing silly buggers and and admit you're trying really hard to equate different things because you want to hold democrats to a higher standard.
