Oh no Streveler is doing it for the same reasons Nichols was doing it. It's being cocky and arrogant. I for one loved when Nichols did it given how the last game against the Riders went for him. The timing was perfect. Pitches a bomb downfield to go up 2 touchdowns in the game early, yeah you strut Matt. That's the bounce back from the Banjo Bowl he needed. If you can't show boat then when can you? Get over your hatred of Nichols, he's been great for this team even with all his limitations as a player and he's still superior to Streveler as a starter despite the physical tools Streveler has.

Bombers sign Geoff Gray to a 3 year deal

Say what you will about Kyle Walters but he made drafting OL high a priority from day one and now we have depth there that I don't think I've ever seen the Bombers have. -

More highly touted Canadian talent is always welcome. Figure out the rest later. -
I would imagine that as an american DB coming here trying to play halfback the first time you see a receiver running before the ball is snapped is going to do all sorts of awful things to your head.

Odds and Sods - Green Riders vs Blue Bombers
17to85 replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
and the conditions being a pissed off and violent Bombers defense. -
It has never happened before. I find it hard to believe it will happen this year, but I suppose it's possible. Just think that it's unlikely for things to fall into place where all these western teams win the right combination of games to have someone by 9 wins and not make the playoffs. One of Edmonton or BC will fall off the pace. I really believe that this weeks Edmonton/BC game is the critical game of the season for those teams.

Nichols was good in this game. You really have to remember that from the very get go it was clear that the Riders offence was not going to do much, they damned near threw a pick 6 on the first play and then the defense did get a score and the offense followed it up with the bomb to Adams, and then the next times they got into scoring range they put Streveler in for their change of pace and got TDs out of that. That does take away the potential for Nichols to pad the stats. The guy did what he needed to do. Didn't make any stupid throws, moved the ball a bit when he had to, showed some confidence and swagger and took a 31 point lead into half time, after which the Bombers just shut it down completely and took 0 risks knowing it was already in the bag.

swag·ger ˈswaɡər/ verb 1. walk or behave in a very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive way. "he swaggered along the corridor" synonyms:strut, parade, stride; noun 1. a very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive gait or manner. "they strolled around the camp with an exaggerated swagger" synonyms:strut; So like I said, he was literally swaggering down the field, and you pump up Streveler for having swagger, but when Nichols does it it's silly. You can't have it both ways, all you are doing is proving your bias against Nichols.

Bombers / Riders Pre Game "Discussion"
17to85 replied to TheBandit's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Riders are by far the easiest matchup in the playoffs. Reilly, Lulay, Harris, Masoli, BLM can all go off on any given day and have vs. Our defense, but the Riders O? Doesn't scare me at all and I believe our offence can play a safe efficient game against anyone. -
Aren't you bitching non stop about Nichols literally swaggering down the field after a touchdown pass?

Bombers / Riders Pre Game "Discussion"
17to85 replied to TheBandit's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And I sincerely hope that the Riders don't **** things up and play someone other than the Bombers in the playoffs. I want to face that team more than any other team in the playoffs. It's the easiest team to face in the playoffs -
That came up too, Sayles really has come on strong and solidified the secondary.

The Riders really are lucky with their schedule this year. Just pure luck they got 2 against the Bombers while Nichols was in such a funk and they were lucky they got Edmonton in their little funk too (we got them in that funk as well) but normal Nichols and Reilly vs. the Riders in those games they aren't a concern for playoffs. If I was a Rider fan I'd be seriously concerned. Not only did they get their asses handed to them yesterday but they also suffered some injuries, and for a team with depth issues already that won't make things any easier.

The offense went super conservative in the 2nd half. They were up 31 points, no need to take changes, they knew damned well that if they didn't turn the ball over there was no chance Saskatchewan was going to come back. I too would have loved to see them drop 60 points on those assholes but I'll settle for building a big lead early and crushing their spirits by simply not allowing them to get any traction through big plays.

I don't think Ottawa is the best match up for this team, they always seem to give them trouble, and this year is the most vulnerable Calgary has looked so west all the way. I ain't scared of Saskatchewan in the least, as evidenced by yesterday. Take care of the football they can't do **** against you.

We were discussing it yesterday while watching, a theory that was proposed is that someone got Hall to change up how he blitzes. He used to be very predictable with his blitzes (see first game vs. Hamilton) Now it seems like when they blitz it's not an easy read and completion for the opposing qb. I know Doug Brown for one has talked in the past how he was never a fan of the way Hall drew up blitzes.

All the tools but no tool box on that guy. Just never able to put it all together.
-
but still, neither one of them have developed a CFL qb. Trestman did well with Calvillo and Ray, but those are two well established HOF type qbs and Popp never brought anyone in to replace Calvillo in Montreal so I am not sure that holding them up as QB gurus is entirely accurate.
-
well i recall trestmanliking MBT more out of camp and Popps record with qbs is suspect to be polite.

You are arguing a point I've never made, I said Lapo likes to dump it off, which is true, but he also likes to throw deep. See that's always been my beef with him. He's either huck it deep or dump it off, he doesn't like the intermediate stuff. We get token intermediate throws at best in his offense and that hasn't changed. My point is trying to say he doesn't like the dump offs because of 2002 it just being difficult. You want to know another way I know that Lapo is a fool pretending to be brilliant? His plan to replace Bruce in 03 was to put Marcus Howell in that spot. Yeah what a brilliant offensive mind. Guy rides the coat tails of talented players like the Stegalls and Harris' of the world but without that kind of star power he's got nothing.

Fans are too reactionary. Too much buying into hype from TSN and let's be honest, TSN is hardly the experts they'd have you believe.
