And if you start Streveler and he beats a sad sack Montreal team and the team goes into Edmonton thinking problem solved and turns out he isn't really ready then you have both qbs being ******. No given that there wasn't a huge difference in their respective performances last game you 100% go back to your veteran guy.
-
I don't like the Edmonton defense vs. The run game in general. Game 1 I don't put a huge amount of stock into just because of the first game for a rookie qb and the crazy weather delays. Harris has done work against them in years past and I still see some of the same weaknesses.
-
See I see Edmonton as more of a test for the D than the offense. I don't believe that the esks can handle Harris so the offense should work fine, only a matter of can the D limit the big plays.
-
Simple fact is that Streveler didn't do enough to steal the start from Nichols. Same yardage, same completion %. Not gonna take the vets job like that. Leash gets shorter for Nichols, but he gets the chance to rebound.
-
Lapo had a great time against the Als this year too. Just for the record.
-
beating the bombers who started off like 7-0 or something. It's the CFL, doesn't matter what you do in the regular season, only matters what you do in the fall.
-
But they aren't planning on firing them...
-
Well Greg Carr was alright too, before he bailed in free agency.
-
Edmonton got to negotiate with Reilly before trading Winnipeg didn't, that should tell you everything you need to know about the chances of actually getting him back then.
-
Totally agree with that. Lapo thinks the deep ball is a race downfield. But guys like Duke Williams aren't burners, just guys who can win battles and get separation. And lapo is the fit coaching receivers. He just be a hell of an interview because he continually displays the same problems with his offense even 16 years after we first gave him a shot.

Fogg in game 1 just before "halftime" at very least.
-
That is odd criteria. Comebacks don't have to happen on the last drive. Fact is that this team was in a lot of holes last year and the year before that they had to dig themselves out of.
-
So you say they ruined WIlly, but don't give pause and think perhaps they're doing the same to NIchols?
-
I said it before, that line is tired and untrue. It's not realism, it's just a different sort of bias.
-
Oh they came back a bunch, had to when the D started off games the way they did so many times last year and the year before.
-
y'all need to stop being such negatrons, be positive, it won't kill you.
-
Yeah but we get this sorry assed Montreal team next week so who cares?
-
-
Do we need one though? Fogg is fine as a punt returner and I don't think we suffer too greatly on kick returns. A returner to me is a luxury item that isn't a high priority to acquire. receivers are much more important right now.
-
Because this team telegraphs what it's going to do. It's a tradition with Lapolice.
-
How often does Nichols miss open targets? Honest question.
-
I actually don't think it's an injury with Nichols, I think it's Harris and Dressler more than anything else. It's no secret that those two guys are tailor made for the offense that Lapolice likes to run, and they have put some hard hard miles on Harris' body this year. I suspect that he is hurting but soldiering through it because that's the kind of player he is, and with Dressler out that's one less crutch in the offense. Lapolice of course has never been good at adjusting and adapting so without those guys being at 100% the offense is faltering, especially when teams know that taking away Harris is priorities 1-6 in their defensive game plan.
-
There are only like 4 head referees in the cfl, of course you will know their names. You hear them every week.
-
And if we are talking about Dressler, well the offense fell apart when he went out so.....
-
Toronto last year probably counts, Wilder Jr. did a lot of work for that team late in the year.
