yeah that same receiver dropped a pass on a key 2nd down that Nichols put right into his numbers. Like I have said a bunch, Darvin Adams is inconsistent.
-
Catch it or knock it down, you don't go batting it up into the air. That's on the receiver. Never mind that all across the CFL other teams have receivers that make tough catches for their qbs, you think Reilly and BLM hit everyone perfectly? Hell no, those guys help their qbs and as much as Nichols is having a tough go right now when was the last time we saw his receivers really help the guy out?
-
I think the real ass chapper about the FG after the fumble is that is probably could have been a Bomber field goal if they hadn't turned it over so it's again a 6 point swing.

Well the evidence in the first 3 games seems to show otherwise. Blew a lead late against Edmonton because the offense got bogged down, never got going at all against Hamilton and yes the Montreal game was good, but it was Montreal so how much does that really mean? -
yes it was a bad throw, but if he lets it go rather than tipping it up the DB at least had to put in some effort to get the pick. You can't let the receiver off the hook, he compounded the problem.

OK but I will judge receivers who drop passes that hit them squarely in the hands on 2nd downs (Thompkins and Adams on Labour Day, Washington volleyed up the first INT too, who knows what happens if he either knocked it down or just let it do by) So you can go ahead and keep pinning it all on Nichols but his receivers ain't helping him. How about the play where Nichols rolled out of the pocket to escape pressure and none of his receivers could get open for him and he had to throw the ball away? How about all the times the pressure came and there were no options for Nichols? Either Lapo has no plays called for that (unlikely much as I think Lapo is a ***** sometimes) or the receivers aren't getting open for the qb. -

I think you may be onto something there, think they did make a change in the play calling that season. They went to Dinwiddie for a while thinking he'd save the day (he didn't) and then back to Glenn. -
Sask had 10 points off turnovers (got a FG after the fumble) and returned a kick for another 7 points. The Sask offense really didn't do anything to win that game at all, it was missing the tackle on that kick return when they had the guy dead to rights and then giving away the ball on sloppy turnovers. You play like that in the other 2 phases you are making it really hard on your defense. Those guys deserved to win that game but it was given away by the other phases, especially when we take in the blocked field goal attempt too.

You didn't say it, you implied it which is the exact same thing. So no, MOS hasn't lost the room. I think we over estimated the talent this team has, especially at receiver. Darvin Adams is too inconsistent to be our #1 guy, would much rather that he was the #3 guy. Dressler is still a good player but he's old and getting hurt more so again, he should not be the only reliable guy we have out there. It's fallen apart without him. Bowman was a bust, Thompkins has shown some flashes but seems to never see the ball until it's too late, no idea why that is. The Canadians are good, but we are missing those receivers who really step up and consistently make plays for their qb. -

When I think about the past couple seasons the D usually started out super slow and adjusted and the offense picked up the slack late, this year though seems the D is starting better but as the game goes on teams adjust to what they're doing and also adjust to stop the offense entirely. Is this the classic play to not lose Lapo and Hall and they can't handle having a lead? There's only been a couple games this year they haven't had a lead. -

we can if you count playoffs. -
Similar to pulling the goalie it's not all about the one position, it's also a good swift kick in the ass for the rest of the players to get their acts together. Nichols has been let down by the receivers a lot lately, yeah he's made some dumb dumb throws too, but really needs more help, perhaps Dressler is too much his crutch, but either way the receivers need to be better. Hell the first INT on labour day the receiver tipped it up for the DB to get it easily, if he doesn't tip it at least the db would have likely had to at least dive to make the pick.

So which coaches do we blame for all the blown leads this team has had? My gut tells me the coordinators are mostly responsible for that so Lapo, stop blowing things at half time. -

well then I am sold...Let's just do that same thing. -
mini donuts you say....

with as many games remaining against the Riders and Esks forget the crossover. Just get the offence figured out, win some games and make the playoffs in the west.
-
Well when a fan base only exists to have smoke blown up their asses anything that isn't smoke being pumped up there MUST be a grave insult.
-
Which is different from any regular day how?
-
Avoid turning the ball over and I don't see how the riders win. They are a team that needs points from their D to win games.
-
But the past is just that, the past. What happened 28 years or 20 years or 15 year or 10 years or even 5 years ago has no impact on the bombers right now. Focussing on when the last cup was and the firing at the first step backwards has led to more pain and suffering for this fanbase. It's useless to use 1990 as anything significant.
-
Because it has no bearing on anything right now.
-
It's not a 28 year slump. Forget about when they last won the grey cup and look at the big picture. It's a couple games of shitty play. This team can bounce back from that and it's not about winning the grey cup once, it's about building a foundation that leads to consistent results, and they are doing that.
-
Oh considering they have gone from a terrible team to a team where winning games is expected I would say they are able to identify what isn't working and make changes. The problem is we have a very impatient fan base here and a very patient coach. They make changes, just not at the rate fans want. So be patient. The sun will come up tomorrow regardless.
-
well the odds of going through an entire season without a slump are pretty miniscule, closest we've seen are the Stamps, and look how often they've slumped in the biggest game? Or all those years of Montreal winning a pile except for the cup. Just accept that in the CFL it is hard to be on top of your game the entire way through and just weather the slumps and trust that the people in charge will get it straightened away.
-
the wrong time to trend down it at the end of the season, not midway through. Bombers came out relatively strong, slumping at the moment, but plenty of time to get it sorted out before the important games happen. honestly this is probably the optimal time to slump if you have to have a slump. fix what's not working and be strong going into the playoffs.
