Nichols is a good short to medium passer in my books, iffy on the long balls. Not as quick as he was with his feet at one point, but the number of injuries the guy has had to his legs that happens. I think he's generally got a good attitude and leads the team but has on occasion lost it. He has shown the ability to regain that in the past though. No one is claiming that Matt Nichols is the pinnacle of a quarterback, all people are saying is that he does some good things out there and has done some very good things for this team so the people who come in here and treat him like he's TJ Rubley are out of line. No one is claiming that Matt Nichols played well against Edmonton, all we are doing is arguing this insane talk that he's a trash quarterback because reasons. I mean Mitchell and Reilly are the top quarterbacks in the CFL no questions asked. On paper Harris might appear better than Nichols but the results don't match up to the numbers for Harris in my opinion and I have Nichols and Harris as a teir below the top guys, you want to put Harris ahead of Nichols I'll go with that, but it's not some huge gap between the two of them based on the results. Masoli I don't believe is all that good. beating up the weak sisters of the league right now doesn't make him an elite quarterback. So yeah, barring paying 3/4 of a million per year for a qb we're doing OK at the position.

They tried to win on the backs of Harris while the stamps D took that away. Lapo failed hard bringing the rider game plan against a much better team.

It's just typical Winnipeg fans. No one is ever good enough for them. We sit Nichols for Streveler and he runs the same offense people will turn on him and scream for McGuire. This team is not going to be the high flying team they want ever because it's not built that way by the coaches. The coaches want to play a safe game and win the field position game, on the backs of good special teams in a lot of cases. This team will rarely blow anyone out, but as we have seen they will grind out wins. We are the CFL equivalent of a neutral zone trap nhl team.

But of the 4 playoff games he's had here he has 1 loss to BLM and one to Reilly and 2 of the losses can be pinned on shoddy defense.... he also came closer to beating BLM last year than Harris did. I think Nichols gets undersold a lot. Yeah last night was tough but overall he is a guy you can win with.

Yeah Harris likely pissed off and will have 150+ combined yards next time.

P Because it isn't about numbers... Nichols looked good in game 1, he didn't need to pass a ton in BC But he was calm and in control and accurate with his passes. Last night yeah it was ugly, but like I said the esks made Reilly look like a raw rookie the week before so perhaps they just have a good defense over there.

He looked really ******* good in game 1 despite the lack of yardage so don't give me that crap. That Edmonton D made Mike Reilly look like shell shocked Drew Willy so maybe we're all being too harsh on him based on 1 game early in the season.

agree completely, he has taken way way too many penalties and I can't see O'Shea standing for that. tones it down he'll be OK, but right now that's a killer.

Before he got hurt in the BC game Wilson was all over the place, including showing great speed tracking down Burnham on a long pass. That guy is going to be a good one for sure.

I wonder if only having one game then a bye week put the Bombers at a disadvantage. Could be a good amount of rust still having not played 2 previous regular season games like Edmonton.

And, when the Esks needed plays to win the game Collins wanted no part of getting hit again and short armed a ton of passes. Totally pussied out because that's how the Bombers play D. Gotta earn your yards the hard way.
