  1. Gotta listen to him, he is Julius Caesar after all
  2. No it really doesn't, the humor fell flat and there was nothing charming about it. That was one of the biggest gripes I had with the movie, it tried so hard to add humor and it just fell flat.
  3. but the court of public opinion is always what determines a politicians career....
  4. if it were me you'd have to offer a hell of a lot more. playoff bonuses still a thing in the CFL? can easily make a lower offer on a good team worth more than a higher offer on a tire fire team.
  5. but they're not amateurs, they're all playing professional hockey in europe and a bunch of them are NHL washouts.... we sent a bunch of CHL players then I'd have interest. The whole men's tournament to me is tainted simply because of the blatant money grubbing by the NHL, IOC and IIHF.
  6. The Watchmen was a pretty faithful adaptation, but I dunno that it's quality is as high as all that... Good adaptation of the source material but it's still a pretty dry movie. I guess if you're a fan of the graphic novel then yes it will be rated highly but if you're not it's going to be seen as just a boring as **** movie. Had I not read the graphic novel I don't think I would have appreciated that movie at all.
  7. No that's not what I'm saying, I clearly said it, **** all those organizations for being so money hungry that they couldn't get the best into the Olympics despite everyone wanting them there. It's basically a glorified Spengler Cup at this point.
  8. Hung over from all the celebrations after yesterday no doubt.
  9. You mean accountability like losing your spot on the team? Just because you want guys raked over the coals publicly and O'Shea doesn't do that does not mean there is no accountability.
  10. No... Cap 1 was ok but not the greatest. I think it's rating gets inflated these days because of the quality of the subsequent captain America movies.
  11. Someone bought a Heath jersey last year didn't they?
  12. 130k for a starter seems pretty reasonable... or are you still salty that Heath priced himself off the team?
  13. I don't begrudge players looking to get the most money they can, but at the same time, sometimes it's better to just not expect too much and take the good deal in the good situation. Otherwise you could end up like Dennis over in gapperland where your big contract gets ripped up when you don't earn it.
  14. They are giving Lapo a lot of the types of guys he likes to work with so no excuses for us to not have a damned good O this year. Bunch of guys who can take short passes and turn them into more.
  15. I think they probably told him "here's our offer, if you don't find what you're looking for get back to us"
  16. AKA they paid me the most.
  17. The best way to view it as them simply using free agency to bolster the Canadian depth, which was needed. We can use a Canadian to back up Harris, we can use more canadian depth at receiver, especially if they're planning on using more of them there to get more americans on D. It all helps build the best roster possible so it can help the D even if it's not a direct signing on D. Better national depth on offense means no need for national linebacker which should mean better defense from the weakest position on the D.
  18. I would say that the hype in the women's movement is the only reason it did get that buzz. Plus the academy people like the director based on previous work. Doesn't mean a lot. I mean christ didn't Shakespeare in love win best picture one year? That's the kind of thing that can win oscars. They are all bought and paid for.
  19. as for the mens hockey team, who gives a ****? **** the IOC, IIHF and NHL for being greedy money grubbing pricks. Much more interested in women's hockey than men's because without the best players it means nothing. Rob Klinkhammer is on the team for god's sake! Let that sink in, Klinkhammer is an olympic hockey player. You know how I know it's gonna be bad bad hockey?
  20. He was the man who was going to give them the best OL in the league! They won free agency simply by signing him. Never change Chris Jones, never change. Makes you wonder why anyone would sign a contract with him when he treats guys like that.
  21. My wife hated it too and she's usually the first to like shitty movies with strong female characters so there's that.
  22. I don't feel sorry for the Riders after they pulled the same crap with Brendan Labatte wanting to go home. It's part of the risk when you draft players.
  23. FIRE EVERYONE!
  24. I actually think you can get away being less skilled in mixed since there are more misses all around given you don't have the same precision in line calls or sweeping. I am actually torn on it as a sport. I think as a recreational sport it has a lot of merit, but my problems with it as an olympic sport as really the same as I have with curling in general being an olympic sport, namely that it's not the best competition. When you limit Canada to only one team you are leaving out 90% of the team teams. The Dutch can send a million speed skaters and the Norwegians can send a million skiers and the Germans can send a ton of sliding event competitors but Canada only gets one each for curling? It's nonsense.
  25. No I have no problems with a female led movie, I have a problem with bad movies, which it was. It didn't have any good action scenes, as I said, they looked like something out of a bad video game, the acting was bad, only guy I thought was solid in his role was Chris Pine, but he had such **** to work with, as did everyone. The movie dragged on, the movie didn't have a cohesive plot. They fell into the trap of tell don't show. The entirety of Ares was told rather than shown, all for the sake of having a twist for who the real villain was, which fell completely flat. It was quite frankly lazy film making. But hey, feel free to enjoy crappy movies, I am sure there are a lot more coming out this summer too.
