  1. so I looked it up, Darvin Adams at 6'2 190ish pounds is pretty damned skinny too. Most receivers are to be honest. Sure there's exceptions but not a lot.
  2. Doesn't matter, some former qb who is judged to be qualified in the eyes of the team.
  3. I think that idea is a remnant of when Doug Berry was here and that was what they did.
  4. You know what? They didn't go into the year thinking Hurl was the MLB if you ask me. To me they were planning on using Thomas/Ekakitie but Johnson showed so much they had to get him into the lineup and none of the american linebackers really did much to grab that mlb spot so they felt the defense was better served with Johnson and Hurl rather than Thomas and american mlb. So who do we blame for Hurl starting? Poop that's who.
  5. Everyone knows MOS wasn't going to fire Lapolice. Best hope we ever had was he got a head coach gig.
  6. I would also try my best to get 2 Canadian receivers as a regular feature too. We don't have good enough American receivers to justify it so might as well get ratio spot fillers there.
  7. Medlock is neither a great nor terrible punters. He is a field goal kicker who is OK at punting.
  8. Does he look any more slender than Darvin Adams? To me he looks fine in terms of his build.
  9. I would suggest the team in it's current state is already a grey cup contender Ritchie Hall and all. Gotta remember Edmonton was also a 12 win team. Can't all be lucky enough to play in the shitty eastern conference where showing up is often enough to win a game in the playoffs.
  10. I just think given how much some of our other Canadians were a detriment on D, especially when Westerman got hurt, that it behooves the Bombers to explore 3 Canadians on the offensive line. They drafted heavily there, if that is what we're spending picks on we gotta see a benefit in the ratio at that position. Bond was massive in turning that position on offence around and into a strength, but I think it's time for that change to happen.
  11. I think Wild is a guy you can get back at a lower salary just because of his injury troubles, and I think that's the best way to go about that. They haven't been so strong at recruiting linebackers that you just let a talent like Wild walk away.
  12. That's a pretty good DL in Edmonton though, in fact DL is the absolute strength of the Edmonton D and is the only reason they won a bunch of games early in the year. Soon as they started losing their tackles their wins went away and didn't come back until those guys got healthy. I thought the offensive line for us held up great agianst them all game. Assuming they have some quality american tackles I have faith that they can play 3 Canadians on the interior.
  13. OL looked good though against a couple good defensive lines the 2 games without Bond though. We've spent a bunch of draft picks on OL, it's time to make them work for us in terms of the ratio. Need that help elsewhere.
  14. That's an awful lot of key players. Kyle Walters has his work cut out for him.
  15. So here is how I break down the defense in terms of players comparing this season to last season... I think they 100% improved the DL. Jeffcoat and Poop and Ogopogo were great this year and Nevis did more here than Euclid Cummings did. Now linebackers I give a clear downgrade to. Missing Wild nearly all year hurt, Bass was just flat out better than Hurl in the middle and Mo was hurt a lot this year. Secondary I also give a downgrade to. Walker and Alexander both showed flashes but did also make those glaring errors in coverage. Throw in Loffler not being as impactful as he was last season and that's 2 of the 3 phases of the D that were not as good as last year just based on the players on the field.
  16. It's because Lapolice is a smart guy who has a good understanding of the game and has numbers on his side and I think he's probably a great interview based on his knowledge of the game. Where he fails as a coach is his ability to make the right call at the right time.
  17. But he does just decide to do that. He is anticipating an adjustment by the D, but all he winds up doing is solving their problem for them. He will not do things until the other team proves they can stop it. He does something, assumes the D will adjust and tries to out pace their adjustments. It drives me ******* bonkers.
  18. Hey if you're happy with the "almost" offense we run go nuts. Here's the thing, I have never been thrilled with the D we run, but everyone is so down on it and only it I have to bring some balance to the discussion here and I am 100% behind statements I previously made that if I had to lose only one coordinator I would rather lose Lapo than Hall.
  19. and if we all go back to the game against edmonton in winnipeg earlier in the year he did the exact same ******* thing. Harris shoved right down to the redzone and then we stopped using him and kicked a field goal. It's what Lapolice does. Takes routes short of the first down marker hoping someone lucks into getting yards and over thinks things and goes away from what's working to break tendency. He is his own worst enemy.
  20. and unlucky he got saddled with the need to play a canadian at middle linebacker and a bunch of rookies all over the secondary all season long.
  21. He's lucky he had Nichols and Harris to save his ass. But hey, you read the stats without putting any thought into them at all, good for you.
  22. Like I said elsewhere, the when is more important than the total. I brought up swaggerville to illustrate a point, that even with the kind of defence we all want to see a Lapo led offense still can't get the job done. I am the only one here looking at the big picture, everyone else is fixated on trying to find one single thing to blame and that's the only problem on the team. I am trying to get you all to think about things but no, it's all Ritchie Halls fault. Damn the man! woulda been 20-0 and win the grey cup easily if not for him!
  23. if we are serious about winning in the playoffs it does. I can't see O'Shea firing them though so best case is Lapo gets hired as a head coach, then he's someone else's problem.
  24. working on it.
  25. That's why it's high risk, but sometimes you gotta take those chances. MOS gambled, they lost, it happens, but I like the balls he shows. Which is why it is puzzling to me that he is surrounded by spineless coordinators.
