but that seems to be something that people always complain about with returners here the last few years. -
Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

I know he is a popular whipping boy for some, but honestly what is wrong with Lankford? Yeah there was the one fumble but the guy seems to be doing his job at both returning kicks and backing up the receiver position. -
He's a great play caller when he's down multiple scores or just down and time is running out, but when leading or tied or plenty of time left in the game he is pretty brutal. That is why those of us who are frustrated with Lapolice are frustrated with him, because he is inconsistent and if he'd call the entire game like he did when he was trying to climb back into a game things wouldn't get so prone to 2 and outs all the damned time.
-
The great part is that they had 2 guys there who should have at least been able to make a tackle, and they both had their heads so far up their asses it never even occured to them that there might be a catch.
-
errrrrr. Ritchie Hall has been a bend but don't break coach his entire career. That means that lots of yards are given up. I mean this nonsense about the MLB, it should have been obvious when Wild had few tackles when he played in the middle, or when Bass had few tackles when he played in the middle. But no we'll blame Hurl for everything. Wally Buono features his MLB, he lets them make all the plays, Ritchie Hall not so much.

eh, if Montreal had won we'd have just as much cause to ***** about the refs as they would. That dive to draw the PI just before their very first TD was as bad as anything else in that game. Here is the thing, the reffing in the CFL is atrocious, we know this, and they called a TD for Harris on the field so you need 100% evidence to over turn it, there was none, score stands. Montreal should be ashamed of themselves for taking their foot off the gas at the end and letting Winnipeg twice march it right down their throats. That's not reffing, that's soft D putting themselves in a position where it even came down to that.

Yes but everyone gets iffy calls made, what smart teams do is snap the ball quickly so there is no chance to challenge. Don't get mad cause the Bombers were heads up enough to snap the ball quick. as for your insistence that Harris Elbow was down, where's the ball when it's down? It's damned close to the plane of the goal line, how can you say it's not broken the plane before the elbow goes down? You really don't have to break it to you, you're just trying to troll claiming objectivity but you really aren't objective, just biased against the Bombers. The only people who think that there was conclusive proof that Harris didn't get in are the people who want the Bombers to have lost. You need evidence to over turn a call and there simply is no evidence there one way or another.

Some one gets fired for a 60-1 final score right? I don't even know how that happens.
-
Fred Reid was good, but he was never Charles Roberts good. Reid when he got a hole was great but wasn't as good making something from nothing. Guys like Roberts rarely went down on first contact. It is one of the things that makes Harris so good right now.

It's one of the reasons I am such a big fan of MOS. You can tell when he thinks a guy is dumber than a sack of hammers and treats them as such.

The key is that Tait and Irving know a hell of a lot about football and the CFL and the Bombers in general so when they have something critical to say it's usually well founded in reality. Guys like Wiecek though have very little to no knowledge about football or the CFL so they can be critical but it holds no weight because they don't know what they're actually talking about. Which is why Mike O'Shea smirking is some how a problem.

What would it take to fire a coordinator?

what scoring at key times and creating turn overs is how you win? Well I have something to tell you.... every team relies on those things to win. I mean seriously the stats for how strongly winning the turn over battle correlates to wins means that every team that wins relies on turn overs. Yeah there's areas that need to get more consistent on this team, but they're battlers and they always believe they have a chance to win, that comes from the coach and that's what makes him a good coach. -
Aiding the Bombers was the fact that guys like Thorpe were able to take those short catches and fight hard for extra yards to keep the chains moving. You make the short throws you gotta make sure you get extra yards out of it otherwise you still wind up punting.

41-40, (42-43), 33-25, 43-40 What's going on?
17to85 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Regarding the D, and some of the runs Montreal had, there were a ton of missed tackles that make it look bad. Get the initial tackles made and there's a lot less given up. -
why would I drink a few thousand shitty beers when there are so many good ones to drink? is that like the Riders themselves? Once you've seen a few thousand shitty games it grows on you?

Odds and Sods - Montreal Als at Blue Bombers
17to85 replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
and the thing is, if Medlock makes some kicks that are within his usual range they coulda scored over 90 points in those games. -
LOL no, it's ****.

Yeah that one was clearly a bit of a shove. Soft call, but they call the soft ones all the time now so it's a penalty as the CFL has determined. -

The crazy part is that without the penalty help the Als had nothing going early on. They're 2 and out and punting if Corney doesn't get his hand in the face of the D-lineman, that sell job on the PI in the endzone was none too impressive either. This D gives up a lot of yards, but they also don't do themselves any favours when they get to taking penalties to extend drives when they do have a team stopped. As far as the offense goes, they are feast or famine it seems. They either go 2 and out or they march and score. That is a problem too cause if you punt from your own end a few times the field position battle and score easily goes against you. Can you imagine if this team could avoid a bunch of the 2 and outs? -
How about the clear one they didn't call right before the missed fg? Refs were bad all game both ways but Harris was never down. Montreal left early Winnipeg didn't. That is the difference

Nice to be on this side of a 4th quarter come back for a change

Looking Ahead: Montreal Vs Winnipeg

QB, QB, QB. blame Kyle Walters for not getting Mike O'Shea the qb he needs to do what some of those other coaches did. I dunno why you're bringin gup Chepdelaine anyway, that is clearly the dead cat bounce that every team gets when they change coaches midway though. -

The big difference was Trestman stepped onto a Toronto team with future hall of fame qb Ricky Ray, Mike O'Shea stepped onto a team with absolutely no one at qb. -
