Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
17to85 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Rider fans know they have nothing of their own to cheer about so they have to pretend that other teams losses makes them happy. As frustrating as the Bombers loss was last night, at least we're not trying to delude ourselves into thinking Kevin Glenn is the answer and Jones is really on the right track. -

Well if we want to get into numbers then I'll simply say that the Bombers are on pace for a 12 win season and the Riders are on pace for a 6 win season... so I guess congratulations on beating the pace from last year? All that improvement we heard so much about is coming to fruition! -

Honestly BC is going to make plays on offense, there's just too many playmakers on that team for them not to, so it really is up to our own offense to stop screwing around and put some long drives together consistently and put up points. They can't score if they don't have the ball. -

Because they envision themselves as champions of the people holding the politicians who spend their tax dollars feet to the flames. -

But they could be unbeaten on the year if they hadn't missed some kicks! So really we shouldn't be surprised if they run the table the rest of the way. -

The media in Winnipeg has had an agenda against the funding model for the stadium from the get go so it's no surprise. -

Very few teams get blown out week in and week out, the difference between the good teams and the bad teams is that the bad teams fail to make the important plays to win and the good teams find a way to win. That's what makes the Riders a bad team, they don't make the plays to win, and with Kevin Glenn as the starting qb I wouldn't hold my breath for that to change because his entire career has been defined by needing the D or special teams to make the plays to win, which isn't enough in the CFL. There were some terrible Bomber teams that we always held out hope "well we were close! it'll get better!" it never did.

Calgary cared little for the Flames until 04 anyway, the problems calgary faces are mostly due to the way the city grew over the past decade. Tons of money in the city and tons of people from other provinces, there was no loyalty to the Stamps and a lot of the people who did move in fall into that trap of wanting to only care about the big time sports. I run into more NFL fans in this city than I Stamps fans. I maintain that Calgary desperately wants to be Toronto. -

Well to be completely fair the ones that don't care aren't actually fans. That's Calgary though. City with a big time case of LMS. -
How does Apes compare to the other two? Cause I thought those were actually pretty good and have heard good things about the third one. I opted to see Spiderman rather than Apes this week so next up is probably Apes. Spiderman was solid, though there were parts I felt could have been done better, but it had it's quota of quips filled so it was still enjoyable.

Just like Brian Wilson did! am I doing it right?

True story, I said to Noeller, that's 05 Bombers bad.

There are tons of people out there who swear that Pacific Rim was the greatest thing ever. I didn't mind it but personally felt like it was over hyped by those types. Truthfully Pacific Rim should have been the sequel. The intro story that they glossed over could have easily been the first movie and then the actual main story could have been the 2nd movie. As it stands I have no ******* clue what they are planning on doing in a sequel. I thought they had wrapped it up pretty nicely.

Holy cow that's bad.

Well there was slightly more curse words involved....

People were hard on Khari when he was here throwing all those TDs. That's half the reason I joined these boards, keep people straight and tell them they were wrong for dissing Khari.

You know it's really cool that Nik Lewis went over 1000 catches in his career, I always felt he was a damned good receiver, but man I have a real hard time respecting him as an athlete when he's a fat as he is.... Just looks like a sloppy POS.

God forbid a rookie improves with more time.

I am going to go with Messam because picking against the Riders seems a smart choice.

But there is a difference between the goat, and the GOAT. Both are still very valid.

Because we are 2-1 on the season and are coming off a win, what else are we supposed to argue about?

Oh no I am not giving Denmark credit simply for last season, I've been a fan of the guy his entire tenure here. He's a very consistent and reliable target. I'm also not pumping him up to great levels either, but he's still shown that consistency, where as Adams hasn't, in large part because he was hurt most of last season. As I said before, a few big games last year doesn't put a guy into the highest echelons of receivers, consistently performing at a high level is what does it. Honestly when I look around the CFL there are so many players I would put at the same level as Adams or higher that he's just another american receiver. Everything he does well there are plenty of guys who do it better and more consistently.
