Around The League Off Season Discussion

It's good to play in the east, especially when Hamiltons QB is a walking band aid, the Als and Argos were in a race to the bottom. -
The Oilers always encouraged their players to go if they were eliminated (har har, heard the jokes). They felt it was a good experience and Ryan Smyth as an example always said the goal was to play hockey in the spring so that was just another way to do it. Iginla was a loser for not going if you ask me, lots of years Canada coulda used him.

exactly. Jones doesn't want anything other than a bunch of yes men because Jones is going to do everything since no one else is on his level. The size of the staff is likely simply to have plenty of bodies to throw under the bus. -
more like this: Noeller is just a sci-fi hater.

I giggled like a school girl waiting to see the reactions on this site when both Joe Mack and Brendan Taman made the top 5 drafts.

Could be worse... I took Murray thinking the penguins would do something then he gets hurt in the warmups and Fleury took his jorb

I all of a sudden regret picking chicago to win....

Plus it would be a shame if those chops Kassian is growing got shown out before they really became something special.

definitely public domain, as to the reasons why WB is making one it's simple, there's money to be had.

I did, but then again I ain't a Flames fan so I don't buy the crap the media sells about that team being actually good. The only reason they did anything was when their goalies went on crazy hot streaks, less than insane level goal tending that team had a shitty record. Plus their record vs. playoff teams was poor, they feasted on crappy teams in the regular season. Total playoff pretender and not a surprise the Ducks dispatched them without much effort.

My favourite was a rider fan friend of Noellers trying to explain to me while we were drinking that Nealon Greene was just as good as Khari Jones.
-
Well he is in the rider echo chamber so I would believe the names he hears are rider related names
-
I dunno, might improve the reffing in the CFL if he's not running that department...

I for one blame Iso

Hey who won the regular season pool? Been meaning to ask that....

Here we go with the mind reading again. Hated Iron Man 3 and not because they did the swerve with the mandarin, but because the movie felt unlike Iron Man. Tony is a whiny ***** and his suits don't work? Poppycock!

Thor 2 was weak and no one will call Thor a masterpiece but I thought it was enjoyable. This one caught me off guard with how light the trailer was. Just did not expect that.

Oilers are 3-1-1 against the Sharks this season AND Joe Thornton is on one leg and Logan Couture got his ugly face all messed up, plus the Oilers finished ahead of the Sharks this season... So possibly without their 2 best centres or maybe they play and aren't 100% you don't think the Oilers can beat the Sharks? Come on, let's think about this logically. There is no one in the west that the Oilers can't beat, they were great against the west all year. Doesn't mean they will win, but they're not some underdog coming into the playoffs.

The fact that they've been working behind the scenes to find a new GM since January is really something. Hervey might be an ******* but so are the guys who jammed all those knives in his back. That team did well under him and they just threw him under the bus. So glad that there's no circus in Winnipeg anymore. -

The players have bent over and taken it from the owners in the past 2 CBA negotiations, at this point it's just Bettman looking for another round of bending them over a barrel and showing them the 50 states. Everyone except the NHL owners wants NHL players in the olympics. Fans want it, players want it, IIHF wants it, IOC wants it, and yeah they're all self serving rich assholes but the owners are the worst of the bunch in this situation. Do something for the fans for a change, try and grow the game globally. You have a chance to get all eyes on the game of hockey and they're not doing it cause why? They are short sighted and can't bear to tinker with their own schedule.
-
They sure are, but the owners I find to be the worst because they're not even interested in trying to make something happen. Just going on and on about how horrible it is to stop the season and they don't get any money from it, poor babies. They weren't so concerned about shutting the season down when they locked the players out trying to squeeze more money out of them. The biggest losers in all of this are the fans and maybe it's time that the NHL actually did something to show that they cared about their fans as opposed to trying to part us with money all the time.
-
NHL owners are greedy pricks, we knew this already.

does a roster right now really mean much? I expect a ton of additions before training camp starts

I suspect the prevalence of the term turn over is because most people tend to be offense focused as opposed to defense focused. I mean really if the offense does their jobs perfectly there will never be a turn over because even a forced turn over can still be boiled down to a mistake by the team with the ball.
