  1. The D gave up too much as well but the biggest problem is the offense going MIA for half a game. Gotta give the D a break every now and then. I trust Hall to make in game adjustments and we saw that towards the end when they did make stops they needed to.
  2. Hey I was against Lapo from the get go, I really wanted Khari Jones, and looking at the BC offense it's pretty explosive. But they went with the "safe" choice which was Lapolice. Now we just hope someone decides they want to hire him as a head coach.
  3. it's definitely the result of not running enough, because let's be honest, the interior guys on our offensive line are massive and they have a bit of a surly attitude, yeah they might not get big holes all the time, but you keep letting them beat up on the defensive line and eventually they are going to wear them down. Lapo doesn't like to put that investment in though, he's always been a big fan of trying to outsmart everyone.
  4. I think Lapo is a smart man who understands the game quite well, I just think he's got a loser mentality and that's what holds him back.
  5. It seems to me that our offense either throws short passes or deep passes, I don't think we ever really challenge those intermediate routes that so many other teams have success with. It's either up to Dressler or Harris to make some tacklers miss on the short throws or Adams to come down with a deep ball along the sidelines.
  6. I mean is it any wonder that this offense looks the best when they're down in a game trying to come back? They have the ability to be a good offense, just too often (ie. to start the game and trying to close out a game when they have a lead) they play passively and don't accomplish anything. That's Lapolice. Remember when he was the head coach here? We always lost close games because he was afraid of taking the chances required to win games. The only time I ever liked a Lapolice offense here was when it was Khari Jones tossing bombs to Stegall and Bruce down field or putting the ball in the hands of Charles Roberts or Mike Sellers, but even I could run a successful offence when the game plan is give it to Milt and Charlie.
  7. Yeah but they've recruited a lot of successful DBs here so holding Carmichael against them isn't exactly fair, considering he's not the only rookie starting in the secondary right now and we are also missing 2 of our usual linebackers. The back end on D is patchwork right now, is it any wonder they're hit and miss? I would focus my recruiting talk much more on places like receiver because this group hasn't really dug up anyone spectacular there, though I did like the bit we saw from Thorpe against BC so maybe there is some hope there.
  8. Hell I said that Nichols was struggling with the deep throws earlier on in the year, nice to see everyone else is seeing it now too.
  9. Nichols ain't blameless but we've seen this exact same song and dance from Lapolice before, in fact this very team has fired him twice already for the exact same reasons. Paul Lapolice, good enough to barely lose.
  10. Playing not to lose. Been the MO of Lapo and Hall for years. Try and not **** up rather than trying to extend the lead.
  11. Sometimes, most times, it's not about what the total numbers are it's when you make those numbers happen, and the INT that Nichols threw was at the worst possible time.
  12. Whether it was his decision or the coaches it was idiotic and ultimately the coaches need to make sure the players are smarter about when they take risk. Medlock needs to look in the mirror after that game too cause not only was he short on a kick that he should have plenty of leg for, he was also putting some real poor punts up at the end of the game furthering the field position struggles they had with the offense going MIA for the 4th quarter.
  13. The reason this game is frustrating is because they had every opportunity to win the game and failed to take advantage of it largely because of doing stupid things.
  14. Nichols had a good 2 quarters, don't forget they needed the punt block and the return TD off an int to get the points they did. 2nd and 3rd quarters are the only time this O comes to play this year, 1st and 4th are a wasteland, and I for one blame Lapo with a side of Nichols not being as good as he can be.
  15. The throw by the kicker was a dumb play, but that entire series was pure dumbassery too. That stupid ******* play on first down where they faked to one guy and handed if off to another was stupid considering how much trouble the interior of the OL was having that game. Then going down field on 2nd down was pretty stupid too. That was the time for one of Lapos patented play the field position calls. Had a lead, were pretty far in our own zone, seems to me the smarter play was try and get some yardage back on 2nd down and punt from a better position and trust the D. Instead we lost yards on the series then turned it over on a gamble at the stupidest time of the game to gamble. This team is capable of playing well but they still make too make flat out dumb decisions in game and it holds them back. An offense that thinks it's OK to only play 2 quarters a game certainly doesn't help either. Nichols needs to be better than he has been this year cause that last INT was a dumb dumb play too.
  16. Rider fans know they have nothing of their own to cheer about so they have to pretend that other teams losses makes them happy. As frustrating as the Bombers loss was last night, at least we're not trying to delude ourselves into thinking Kevin Glenn is the answer and Jones is really on the right track.
  17. Well if we want to get into numbers then I'll simply say that the Bombers are on pace for a 12 win season and the Riders are on pace for a 6 win season... so I guess congratulations on beating the pace from last year? All that improvement we heard so much about is coming to fruition!
  18. Honestly BC is going to make plays on offense, there's just too many playmakers on that team for them not to, so it really is up to our own offense to stop screwing around and put some long drives together consistently and put up points. They can't score if they don't have the ball.
  19. Because they envision themselves as champions of the people holding the politicians who spend their tax dollars feet to the flames.
  20. who picks up that tab I wonder... can't be cheap
  21. But they could be unbeaten on the year if they hadn't missed some kicks! So really we shouldn't be surprised if they run the table the rest of the way.
  22. The media in Winnipeg has had an agenda against the funding model for the stadium from the get go so it's no surprise.
  23. Very few teams get blown out week in and week out, the difference between the good teams and the bad teams is that the bad teams fail to make the important plays to win and the good teams find a way to win. That's what makes the Riders a bad team, they don't make the plays to win, and with Kevin Glenn as the starting qb I wouldn't hold my breath for that to change because his entire career has been defined by needing the D or special teams to make the plays to win, which isn't enough in the CFL. There were some terrible Bomber teams that we always held out hope "well we were close! it'll get better!" it never did.
