and yet you say we could bring in people with even more limited success to replace him, so your only argument is that he makes too much money.... which is just stupidity. There isn't a cap crunch on the team for the year so why in gods name do we cut the guy? This has gone beyond football decisions for you and it appears you are simply looking to make an example of a guy. how DARE he lose some games for this team.
-
well imagine that.....

Who have done even less than Willy. Come on man, He was obviously gun shy about the pressure he was facing but it's not like Willy was seen as a poor backup when he was behind Durant, in fact he was seen as a pretty solid back up and has show good play as a starter, and some questionable play, but let's not pretend that all of a sudden he's a worthless player, especially considering all the issues this bomber team has had.
-
He's got one win as a starter in Grey Cups and he is probably lucky that game was played inside rather than outside. All the regular season accolades he's had and only one cup? That's not good. That's only a broken arm difference than noted choker Kevin Glenn. Burris might be talented but he's a *****. always has been, always will be.
-
No, this has nothing to do with any kind of attachment to a player, this is all about knowing how lack of qb depth has screwed this team over before. Seriously we've had "great youngsters" before who failed when thrown into the fire why take that risk? Things are close in the CFL this year why in gods name would we willingly remove the depth at a position just because of salary? That's a conversation for the offseason. In the mean time let's not fall into the trap of thinking we only need one quarterback. It's not your money why are you so concerned about saving a bit of it?
-
******* Winnipeg.... we've been absolutely raped in very recent history because we've had no depth at the quarterback position but now all of you are ready to take away that depth to save a few bucks. Never change Bomber fans, never change. Willy being here at a big salary has no impact on the roster right now and likely won't going forward so why would we willingly sacrifice that depth which chances are we're going to need again before the season is over? Not like Nichols has been clean throughout all these games, he's taken some shots and will take even more.

You know what, I honestly think that there wasn't much difference between the actual offense in both Hamilton games, the reason one was a close game and one was a blow out to me comes down to a couple things. Firstly the defense was better in this second one. They got themselves off the field quicker and obviously didn't give up as many yards or points and the other factor is that the special teams won their battle by even more and the field position in that game was heavily tilted. Field position in the CFL is such a big thing and the Bombers had great field position all night this past week.
-
I would say a more accurate way to say it is that the best players don't need everyone else to talk about how great they are. Burris is such a suck it's not even funny. A huge phony as well. The second something is hard or doesn't go well it's not his fault but when things are going well he's more than happy to take all the credit. I don't care if he is a better player than what we have here I never wanted that tool on the Bombers.
-
Some people define success in championships and in that category Burris is a choker.
-
Henry Burris is still the whiniest ***** in the league.
-
says who? red zone has always been referred to like 25 or even 20 yards out.
-
Man considering that Nichols has a lengthy injury history, and serious injuries to boot do we really want to bank on the guy staying healthy? Unless there's some kind of huge cap crunch you keep your depth at the position because we've seen what happens without depth at qb far too often in this city.
-
Yeah on paper the REDBLACKS!!!11!!! should win but this is the CFL, paper doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot so we shall see what happens.

There's an old adage, things are never as bad as they seem at the worst times and they're never as good as they seem at the best times. It was a great win, no one is going to deny that, but we've seen this team take it's foot off the gas before when they get a lead and it is a tendency that could cause trouble in the future when you don't have a 34 point lead. We saw it in the first game against Hamilton, we saw it against Edmonton as well.
-
Perhaps this is the first year he has really felt like he's had the depth to do that....
-
Going deep isn't the be all and end all of aggressive play calling. To me aggressive is more about taking risks and the Bombers did not do that at all in the 2nd half, but you expect that when you're up that big. trouble is the Bombers do that if they're up by only a little too.

Does A Blowout Over Toronto Next Week Earn MOS An Extension?

Also the offense in the 2nd half last night looked identical to when Willy was there, the common denominator of course is that it was 2 americans on the OL rather than 3. Why is it so hard for people to understand that it's never just one thing, it's all connected. Willy takes hits for years and gets injured and then faces more pressure and the run game doesn't work and his confidence goes out the window. New qb comes in with better OL and a better run game and takes less hits and looks better as a result. Willy is going to play again this year, whether it is a result of Nichols getting hurt or him struggling at some point it's going to happen, I suspect we will see a different Willy after that break. -
Honestly I think that was a case of a player just trying to show his team that he still cares and they should still be fighting. The guy who was a real dink was the backup quarterback who scored the touchdown. OK buddy go dance away when you're on the wrong end of an ass kicking. At least what Fantuz did came off as frustration rather than self satisfaction.
-
ahh we saw plenty of the hand offs or short passes on 2nd and long that are a hallmark of the passive Lapo offense. It's one thing to shut it down when you're up 34, but you won't be up 34 every game and I think this team still needs to develop more of a killer instinct. The first win against Hamilton and the win against Edmonton both started out with domination but the final scores were close because of that passive offense. Just had the instances in this game where they got touchdowns early and quickly so they were up big without it being closer than it should have been.

I wasn't paying total attention but it seemed like Thomas was getting a lot of playing time, was Shologan having issues or just a rotation? Seemed like I noticed Thomas more than Shologan at any rate but that may have been selective vision, I was drinking after all.

Yeah but eastern teams have been bitching about being tired on the coast for years too -

I think the Cats were done before it even started. When TSN had Fantuz on during the rain delay I think he even brought up how late the game would be starting for a team based in the east, I think that the ti-cats probably had it in their minds that it was going to be hard because it was late and they were tired and it showed. The Bombers came out with more energy and Hamilton just couldn't get any traction. -

There are no Willy lovers, only Bomber fans who don't like to run people out of town when they are not the only issue with the team. See defending Willy from all the hate he was getting doesn't make someone not enjoy Bomber wins, everyone enjoyed the hell out of them the last two weeks, but maybe not you because you can't fire O'Shea? I dunno no one is salty at all, just enjoying the wins. -
I think McDuffie is more slippery, but Fogg is just a smart returner. He doesn't screw around much, just catch the ball and go upfield. Too many guys always trying to break a big one but the best returners just get yards and if they get through the first wave they often have the space to go a lot further.
