  1. Collaros even at his best always hung onto the ball and ran around. Problem is he's noticeably slower and can't make the magic happen like he used to. He's lost some explosiveness and speed and he hasn't adapted his game.
  2. Yeah for my money collaros lost the ability to escape in the pocket and he's struggled to play as a pocket passer.
  3. Here's the thing, everyone agrees about Jake Thomas... but you're blowing it up way beyond what it is. My theory is that a tubby guy who gets by just because he was an effort player his whole career is really offensive to you who values athleticism more than most.
  4. Well I wonder if collaros got too comfortable with his crutches and part of this is shaking it up so that the guy can't fall back on just throwing to the guys he trusts. Can't just toss it up and hope Lawler makes a spectacular play anymore. Gotta find someone other than wolitarsky to be at the sticks when he needs him. I dunno just spitballing. Collaros needs to be better all on his own. Shouldn't need receivers to carry him.
  5. Yeah we know, you hate Jake Thomas. You've hated him forever. There were a brief couple years you begrudgingly gave him credit as serviceable but we know, you hate the guy and are letting his presence cloud your every view.
  6. Yeah but didn't 3 of the. Go to the team that hired the assistant gm from winnipeg? Hardly an unbiased source there. He presumably had a role in getting those guys to winnipeg and is bringing them in based on familiarity. I'd have liked having most of them back for camp competition, but let's be honest those guys didn't move the needle enough on the DL last season. They are replaceable.
  7. Last years bomber team offensively was a team that either had it that week or didn't and was pretty brutal. For all the cash they spent on O it was terrible. They didn't have the ability to pull a rabbit out anymore like they used to.
  8. The issue with Lawler is that he only sometimes does it. West final, yeah he was untouchable... but then there's been games he isn't close to that guy. Would have loved to keep him, even at a big dollar value, but I don't know he's worth it anymore. Too inconsistent game to game.
  9. Except the Bombers offense wasn't exactly showering itself with glory before the finger happened. It was shaping up as a repeat of the previous 2 years. Defense keeps it within reach but the offense fails to establish anything all game.
  10. A backup qb wouldn't have changed anything for the Bombers in the grey cup. It was always about whether or not the Bombers did anything against the argos D. They were poor vs. Them all year and same was true in the grey cup. Likely only difference would have been another close loss vs. The lopsided score after collaros threw the ball away all 2nd half.
  11. Some people.... do you guys really not work in a job that requires collaboration and multiple voices working on a project? Yeah ultimately someone is "in charge" but most things are a group effort.
  12. Yeah the dl should be better with Lawson back (at worst he is better than schmeckle) and vaughters should be better than the des who weren't good enough last year. Another year of experience for woods and adams shouldn't hurt. That group plus linebackers should be improved this year.
  13. When you listen to Kyle walters he is always quick to dismiss the hosting the cup thing. In his words "we're trying to win every year, why would we do anything different this year? Honestly I think he knows change needs to happen and he's not being asked aggressive keeping the whole band together. I think a lot of complacency snuck into this group.
  14. And yet the thing that let the team down the past 3 grey cups has been the offense.
  15. No one builds a successful team through free agency. You use free agency to bring in a couple pieces and build your team through other means. This team didn't win all those games the past 5 years by accident.
  16. The elks were a **** team with **** players. They're dumping their trash and trying to build their team through free agency.
  17. Yeah Walters has done some solid signings... You don't use free agency to build your entire team, you use it to fill specific positions and trust your scouting staff to fill in the rest.
  18. The idiom "jumping the shark" or to "jump the shark" means that a creative work or entity has evolved and reached a point in which it has exhausted its core intent and is introducing new ideas that are discordant with or an extreme exaggeration (caricature) of its original theme or purpose. The phrase was coined in 1985 by radio personality Jon Hein in response to a 1977 episode from the fifth season of the American sitcom Happy Days, in which the character of Fonzie (Henry Winkler) jumps over a live shark while on water-skis.
  19. Jake Thomas broke his brain last season.
  20. And when I look at what Kyle Walters has done so far I actually do see a plan. Got a vet at MLB, DE, signed a receiver, kick returner/rb.... I mean those were needs he addressed. There's still a whole offseason left to make further tweaks. I know it's tough watching other teams make a huge splash... but those were the teams that had the most holes. How would you like to be the argos watching their whole DL take off?
  21. So really I'd have liked to see Garbutt in camp to compete but it's not a catastrophic loss.
  22. Well just at the DE spot Hubert got a shot, and Bennett the year before.... Haba got a chance but got hurt and ton and never really developed. I think you're taking your displeasure at a couple positions out on the roster as a whole TBH.
  23. That was my joke, kick his tires he likely winds up on the IR
  24. Oh I'm not getting into contract details, just focusing on what he does on the field.
  25. No one thinks he's the bees knees... just that he's better than you give him credit for.
