Yeah but we did the same thing to Buck Pierce too. Should we throw another qb to the wolves and let them get mentally destroyed before we fix the real problems with this team?
-
because he's been hit too many times in the past few years when he did trust them. You can see plain as day that the guy is gunshy and it only takes a few hits to get him thinking that he's not going to have the help from them.
-
I know Willy has his problems, but a large part of that is the fact that he has no trust in his blocking. You see it when he does get time, he panics expecting the hits to come, and they do still come. The fact that we can't even get Andrew Harris, one of the top backs in the league established on the ground is yet another strike against the rest of the team too. Putting this on Willy is just plain old unfair to Drew. It's a team game and the team isn't doing enough all around right now. Even the great defensive performance left something to be desired. I mean that march by the Esks to end the first half was some disgusting stuff too. All I have ever said, is that there is plenty of blame to go around.
-
This is why willy takes too many hits, his receivers aren't ready to help him when he has to throw it quick.

Pat Watkins who is like 6'5 and Dressler is like 5'7, nearly a foot in height advantage. This brings up something else I need to ask, who is this teams deep threat? Smith and Dressler are both short which doesn't allow them to really do like Bowman did for the esks last night and go up and win jump balls in tight coverage, Adams is just as likely to get easily boxed out as he is to go up and make a catch, it's not going to be Kohlert, Davis doesn't seem to be used that way. We just don't have that reliable downfield threat. Short guys need to flat out beat the coverage, I haven't seen Smith or Dressler do it yet when it's been thrown to them, tall guys need to be able to fight for some contested balls and Adams is so inconsistent in whether he will or won't.

Willy does get rattled, as many qbs in the past have here from the constant hits. He is fragile mentally at this point and needs to be supported better. Not being able to get the run game going makes it worse, the fact that the only reliable plays this team have are the short passes is just not going to do a lot. This team needs to take a slow approach to rebuilding the collective confidence but fans have no patience for that.

you should talk about attacking posters, you spent all night in chat slinging insults around like it was going out of style.
-
and as for Burris, he already said no thanks to coming here once, why would he come here to get his ass kicked game in and game out at his age? Best we'd do is nut case Tate or broken down ginger Lulay.
-
because a balanced offense is harder to defend and puts less pressure on a qb? It's also a symptom of a not good enough group.
-
better than runny **** is still ****.
-
It's funny that people are pining for Kevin Glenn, because I remember not too long ago people were adamant that Glenn had to go for the same reasons they're unhappy with Willy now.
-
well sometimes it could be like the pass late that willy threw to adams who wasn't looking. If the receivers have their heads up their asses the qb doesn't always throw it and can get sacked. There's lots of reasons for sacks. Honestly I give the OL a lot of **** because we get stuffed on run plays too often and it puts it all on Willys shoulders and it makes it easy on the opposing D to tee off on him. They need to be better in every facet but to try and pin this all on Willy, come off it.
-
how come we had like 25 yards rushing if the OL isn't a valid excuse?
-
cause too often in the last few years when he's stepped up he's been pasted cause our OL can't maintain blocks.
-
thank you for proving my point.

and let's not forget the patented Bob Cameron speed bump move -
Tabernac! I'm just too lazy to proof read, you know that.

Sometimes the wall has a better grasp on reality than people around here.

I have been around Blue Bomber messages board long enough to know exactly how it'll go. It's speculation sure, but guarantee there will still be people unhappy with a win if it's not the right kind of win because there are enough negative nancies around these parts that nothing is ever good enough. Saw it last week too. Willy playing well but misses on throw and people are all over him for it. This fan base is in a real negative space right now and it will take more than a 2 game win streak to change that. God help the team if they lose because then all the vultures will be out no matter what kind of loss it is.
-
Oh please the critics will be out in full force unless the Bombers actually go out and curb stomp the esks. Eek out a 20-18 win the offense still sucks and they were lucky that X happened. Win a 40-38 shootout and people will ***** about the defense. This team literally can not win with critics unless they dominate every phase of the game which is just unreasonable expectations.

Gif.GDT: Edmonton @ Winnipeg: game #4 and not #40 edition

The positive vibes worked last week so let's keep it going -
the way the team was overhauled in the offseason the past really doesn't mean much at this point in time. It just flat out doesn't. A decision on the management and coaching of this team can and should come at the end of the season in it's entirety not after week 3. But then again you found them all guilty before the season even began didn't you?
-
BC funnels the play to those guys Winnipeg doesn't. pretty simple really. Wild gets put in a position to make a lot of plays, Bass is used more of a hole plugger and force the play somewhere else. Just a difference in style really.
-
yeah cause people aren't already saying that. This team is in a no win situation with a lot of fans until their record is consistently above .500. People are so quick to be negative because they're seen so many losses that no matter what happens people aren't willing to enjoy the positive things because they are used to it being short lived. A loss tonight doesn't diminish the win last week at all. Going against one of the best offenses in the league currently with as banged up a secondary as the Bombers have is a tall order regardless of what happened in the first 3 weeks.
