  1. Hamilton is a bad matchup for winnipeg just because of how they play defense.
  2. Riders won 07 on the basis of Dinwiddie making 4 rookie mistakes that Glenn was unlikely to have made given the season he was having. Dinwiddie was always a gambler and with his arm sometime he got burned. Also Charles Roberts ****** the team that day too but I do think Glenn would have overcome that particular issue.
  3. Oh man I totally forgot about week 2. I will go with Andy Fantuz. prove me wrong Bombers, prove me wrong.....
  4. I am trying to provide some balance to the piling on that is going on. I agreed that Willy played a stinker against Montreal, but sitting in the stands in Calgary I felt Willy wasn't the main problem for the offense and then I re-watched the game broadcast yesterday afternoon and came away more impressed with Willy. Go ahead, watch the game again and see if you still throw it all on Willy. Go through it drive by drive and you can see what happened. The first drive was going great until Adams dropped a pass that he had no business dropping. The pass on 2nd down missed Adams and they did the fake field goal. The next drive they went deep to Smith on first down but he was double covered and was never catching the pass anyway because he couldn't shake the coverage, then Harris dropped the pass on 2nd down. The next drive They handed off on first down and the run lost yards, willy was pressured on the throw and Smith went out of bounds on the catch a couple yards short on 2nd down. Then they had the recovery after the blocked kick and just pushed the pile into the endzone for the touchdown. You had one in the first half where Willy completed a pass on first down for about 7 yards but the hand off on 2nd down was stuffed. The second half started off with a handoff that got nothing and then Willy scrambled on 2nd and wound up a couple yards short. The next one was a pass batted down at the line because no one was blocking the lineman and then Harris dropped the 2nd down pass. Next drive Willy was sacked on a blitz and the 2nd down play was a short pass to Harris. So where in all that is Drew Willy the main problem? I see OL problems, I see receiver problems, yes there were some missed throws in there too but Willy wasn't the only guy out there failing to make things happen.
  5. God we need to have a scrimmage sometime on TV just so that Willy can get the same benefit other qbs have gotten. He lights up the Bombers no pressure soft zone D people would proclaim him the best.
  6. They sure were, but so was Johnson and Harris at times. Only guy that I have 100% faith in back there right now is Randle and you can't expect to have a good D when one of the 5 defensive backs is solid.
  7. He only tried like 2 long throws all game, one to Smith who was covered the whole way and another to Davis where it looked to me like there was miscommunication between qb and receiver. Willy threw it deeper and Davis cut his route shorter, was much more obvious from the stands than from the angle the TV had. Other than that he threw everything short or medium and the medium throws he was fine at. Again, Mitchell missed some throws too and he also got some grade A catches out of his receivers that Willy just wasn't getting either. That one handed grab that they marked at the 1 was just ridiculous and there was another touchdown catch that wasn't a great throw but the receiver turned into gold. I can remember like 1 catch from Adams that the receiver really helped out the qb. But then Adams also had at least one blatant drop too. This team is just not good enough consistently to start blaming the qb all the time.
  8. Gross. I thought Fogg was pretty terrible against Calgary.
  9. it was pretty straight forward against Calgary. When they brought pressure with more bodies the coverage was too slack and BLM picked em apart.
  10. Against Montreal I would agree that Willy was bad, he was very inaccurate, but against Calgary he was getting the ball where it needed to go most of the time. There were a lot of drops in that game that ended drives and there were too many times when they handed the ball off and lost yards. Then when the D isn't getting off the field and letting the stamps march for points every series you don't get a chance to go back on the field. I am not trying to say it was a great performance or anything, but Willy is taking a lot of undeserved crap after that game because of the historical problems this team has had and because he was poor in week 1.
  11. Reading the D isn't Willy's problem. Getting the ball out fast enough and accurate enough maybe but it's not the reading. He makes good decisions I find it is the execution that sometimes fails. I think he is just a bit gun-shy after all of the hits he has taken
  12. But could have had 6 more points vs. the stamps in the first half but they faked a fg early and botched the clock at the end. I am telling you Willy was not that bad but the team wasn't good. Especially the defense
  13. You might learn something if you do though
  14. Oh they blitzed against Calgary plenty. Johnson came from the secondary multiple times but never got home.
  15. Complete insult to Washington who is a far better dB than Harris ever was. We miss Washington badly right now.
  16. You also don't win with a defense that doesn't force the opposing team into it's 2nd punt until the 4th quarter. Seriously if the defense didn't collectively crap their pants so hard you would all have a different opinion of the offense. Hell Adams doesn't have a blatant drop on a first down on the first drive who knows what might have happened because Willy was hitting everything until that point and then 2nd and long gave this team fits all night, which happens to every god damned team in the CFL. Bombers D just didn't force the stamps into many 2nd and longs.
  17. People should go watch that Calgary game again. Willy was not the problem. He may not have put the team on his back and dragged them along but he was pretty accurate all things considered. Had some drops, some offensive line dog ******* and yes some misses but bo levi mitchell missed some too. His team helped him more.
  18. But also a known quantity and not really an unknown discovery
  19. Wild is the last Mack remnant on the team, of course he can play. We have been waiting for Walters to recruit a defensive end who can play forever, hasn't done it. The secondary outside of Randle is a joke after rewatching the game. Walters problem is that he can bring in free agents from around the league but he is terrible at finding players on his own. He may have finally found some receivers who can play but it's taken 3 seasons. Where is the home grown depth? The drafting hasn't been so **** hot, the interior of the offensive line which are his best draft picks are hit and miss too. You can not possibly excuse Walters in this. Never mind that if you really believe that the coach is horrible who do you think hired the coach?
  20. If you fire O'Shea it'll be either Hall or Lapo taking over don't kid yourselves.
  21. You know I am rewatching the game from Friday, here's what Chris Cuthbert says right after the last touchdown the stamps got that quarter.... "The Stamps have only punted once in 6 possessions this half" Go on, process that and tell me that it's all because the D was tired because the offense didn't stay on the field long enough. Truthfully the offense wasn't even THAT bad, just that the D never got off the field to give the offence a chance to get things rolling. Willy was fine in that first half, but some drops and some shitty OL play ended a few drives prematurely on him.
  22. It's absolutely a cop out excuse, especially in that game. Even with a lopsided TOP a D doesn't get gassed by the 2nd quarter. The D was just flat out bad all on their own. There was one drive where the Stamps started under their own goal posts and marched for a touchdown. Think it was right after half too. No tired excuses there, just flat out terrible play by the unit.
  23. Obviously with hindsight it's a terrible call but I like the aggressiveness of it. It was early in the game so you got all sorts of time to rebound if it doesn't work and if it does work you get some early momentum. The D falling apart over the course of the game was by far the biggest concern. Everyone is on the offence but I am less worried about them than the defense.
  24. and if I recall the challenge they used really had no chance of being over turned.
