  1. In the interest of fairness wasn't that line about "YOU WILL NOT FEEL SAFE IN YOUR BEDROOMS" Something that actually came from the nutter ISIS types? I seem to recall reading that and laughing about it. The only real story here is that they've grasped onto that line to start their fear mongering. The article kind of makes it sound like the Conservatives just came up with that on their own.
  2. I hate that line. Government has spent money on some pretty terrible stuff, so nearly anything can be justified this way. I don't see it as justification, I see it as simply putting things into context.
  3. I don't think Calgary were always healthy on the OL. When we played them they were using a DL on the line because they had run out of healthy guys. Pretty sure he meant Ottawa's Oline has been healthy... Calgary and Ottawa have had healthy QB's all season. It shouldn't be hard to follow, it's a thread about Ottawa, just added in the Calgary bit about qbs and resumed talking about Ottawa.
  4. Like him or not Durant is a winner. Sometimes it's not about stats it's just about making the right plays at the right times. His record speaks for itself with regards to Durant. They'd probably still be a losing team given the stats you cited, but I just don't think Durant is a guy that loses that many games for them.
  5. Don't forget the hitch with no blocking so it's one against 3!
  6. Calgary said they weren't playing him cause he wasn't good enough on special teams, I didn't notice him on special teams here either, you sign wild who is probably a better player anyway AND Wild gives the added benefit of being good on special teams as well. Just a no brainer.
  7. Yeah Lawless isn't as smart as he thinks he is when he's writing opinion pieces but the man is connected and there is a lot of weight to his rumours. Be interesting to see how it all plays out.
  8. I mean this with as much disrespect possible, how the **** do yo know what a good practice should look like?
  9. I dont think coming back to the ball is an issue when you dont throw deep balls several games in a row. Even intermediate routes where out the window. While i think our talent is good at wr, if there are upgrades available id take em. I dont think you limit your self to positions of need when scouting americans, take the best of whats familiar. I think you're wrong. Moore is a good receiver, Denmark can be but he's pretty invisible these days, Adams has been putting way way too many passes on the turf so what good is he? Veltung is a rookie who shows some promise but isn't at the level we need yet, the Canadians are OK but not really threats, more of the solid but unspectacular that you can't really lean on types. We need Moore to stay healthy and add at least one more big time consistent threat.
  10. worst phase of the game in montreal was special teams, we know O'Shea was a good special teams coordinator in Toronto, special teams still suck that to me screams poor players. Why blame O'Shea when Walters hasn't given him the required tools? The depth on this team flat out sucks. The starters aren't great either but when completely healthy it's an OK group, but you lose one key player and it all goes to ****. Watching Adams and Veltung drop passes makes you wish Moore was in the game, watching the qbs we've tried since Willy went in makes you miss them. It's just ridiculous how a couple injuries can so derail a team. Depth also is what makes special teams good and our special teams have been **** all year.
  11. So with Collaros out for the year does that leave just Ottawa and Calgary as not having a significant qb injury on the year? Add to the fact that they've also stayed healthy on the OL it's no wonder they're having success. Can you imagine if the Bombers had stayed healthy on the OL and QB? How different might things look for us?
  12. Players keep getting bigger and faster and stronger is it any wonder players are getting hurt? in addition the extra DI on rosters is really allowing defences to rule and when defence is on top it means offensive players are getting hit.
  13. Using it for votes is slimy, but donating to charity? There's worse things the government spends money on.
  14. And further to that, the special teams didn't quit, they just sucked. It's been a problem all year, when your guys can't get down the field and keep the holes closed it doesn't really matter what the coach is saying. For all the praise Walters gets he's really failed in gathering depth on this team. Injuries to any position and we're totally ******. Do we even have an american who we can consider an ace on special teams? At least Unamba could run down field and cover kicks. We always had guys like Suber in the past as well who got down field quickly and disrupted things.
  15. The logic behind keeping bellefool was sound. Spend money on the OL and see if that helps, it didn't. This offseason we tie the can to Bellefool and hire someone who can get a decent product on the field.
  16. You should see the mail outs I get from the Conservatives. It's actually rather off putting how fear mongering it is and how they try and prey on stupidity. You don't need to go full ***** to get votes in Calgary
  17. Just can't believe that after that performance yesterday I didn't wake up to find that someone, anyone, was held accountable and was made to pay with their job. Biggest problem with this team is accountability on all levels. Accountability doesn't mean firing people after a loss. Firing people now isn't going to accomplish much of anything. Like it or not the proper course of action is to make changes in the offseason. A lot of problems with this team lately have come from mid season firing and the replacement doing better so might as well keep them. Daley, Burke, Walters, Bellefool.... You want another situation like that? Wait until the offseason when some quality people maybe don't have jobs or you can lure them away.
  18. Doesn't matter where Wild fits, you make room for him. Guy is a player and at very least he's also a guy you can trust to run down and cover kicks too.
  19. Yeah how will a professional hockey player ever recover from the shame of being caught sleeping with 18 year old models....
  20. Shamless Ian Wild fanboi checking in, awesome news!
  21. I despise Marcel as much as the next guy but the special teams are just as bad, and that's after firing the coach, O'Shea is to blame for the state of the team. So shouldn't that point the finger in the direction of the talent? If changing coaches doesn't do anything then does it not logically follow that your players just aren't good enough?
  22. I missed the debate last night as the Broncos game was far more interesting. I did turn over to CPAC at half time, and caught part of Mulcair's interview (I can only watch about 30 seconds of that clown before my gag reflex starts kicking in) after the debate. He was asked why the NDP used $67 a barrel for oil in his platform rather than $45. You could tell he had no clue, and didn't know what to say, so he did the usual Mulcair thing and just channeled Pat Martin, getting annoyed and angry that anyone would dare question anything the NDP would say, instead of giving an actual answer. But what else is new. All three leaders in my opinion are pretty weak, but they are trying to govern a pretty schizo country in my opinion. If you pander to the West you piss off Quebec and Ontario. If you pander to Quebec you piss off Ontario and the west. There is no answer that will please everyone. But it was a good question in my view - why is the NDP using $67 a barrel? I think I know why. Because their total bullshit platform that is "costed and accounted for" is total bullshit. If they used actual oil prices they wouldn't even come close to a balanced budget. So they have to lie to try and make it look like they will. I think promising balanced budgets was a huge mistake. Same thing here in Alberta. The Tories always under/over estimated a barrel of oil. It worked for Klein for a decade as he always underestimated the price of a barrel of West Texas Intermediate & he had massive surpluses. Didn't work for Stelmach, Redford or Prentice who all over estimated to pay for their election goodies then rung up massive deficits. Klein was the luckiest politician in Canada. Not the best but the luckiest to have governed in a time of wealth & prosperity everywhere unlike the other 3 poor sap AB Premiers. Even the good politicians are clueless. Klein wasn't lucky he was ruthless. He wanted surplussed and he cut things in order to get them. It's part of the reason why Alberta had to start running deficits. Klein left a lot needing to be done to support the provinces growing population. But he balanced the books which was his goal
  23. Do you believe a coalition of NDP/Liberals could be an effective government? No there is too much difference despite people screaming that they're both left!!!! the Liberals would find more common ground with the Conservatives than with the NDP if you ask me. The only thing they could agree on as a minority I truly believe is "**** Harper"
  24. See here's where I have a problem, I think O'Shea overall is doing a better job than Walters is, but GMs usually get a chance to fire a coach before they get put under the gun. So in that case I am in favour of giving each more time. Walters at very least isn't doing anything to harm the team like Kelly was so there's no real harm in letting him have a good stretch to bring some stability to things.
  25. Sorry, I don't buy that logic. The NFL has already passed on them the first time and in a lot of cases their sham degree from "Southern Pinestick A&M" is not going to lead to many employment opportunities in the real world that pay as well as a job in the CFL.. I can't stand this bias against athletes. Find one guy on our roster that is from a school you've never heard of. My brother coaches at the University/National level and academic standing (GPA and attendance) is a high priority for his athletes. That is, unacceptable academic standing means no play (no matter who you are) until it's brought up to the standard set by the University regardless of sport (I believe its around 3.00 GPA and 80% attendance rate). So I think the more practical question, for me at least is, where do American Universities sit with this when it comes to football play and academic standing with their student athletes? My educated guess would be it varies from University to University. That's all well and good, but a lot of the basketball players at BU when I was there were dumber than a sack of hammers, and mostly they took classes such as shoe tying 101 and walking and chewing bubble gum 305. A lot of universities like to claim that they have high academic standards, and I'm sure some do, but there's also a lot of fluff involved in getting the athletes through those requirements too.
