Drew Willy has been playing fantastically this season, just no question about it. The guy reads a defence well and hasn't been taking many risks with the ball. The only time things fall apart on him is when the OL breaks down and the OC gets into one of his fits where he forgets that running the ball is effective, but those things slow down any quarterback. He has been on the money this year for the most part, same can not be said for the defence and special teams though. Also Lulay, Collaros all those guys they may be able to run but the key that makes them successful is that they can also pass. They're dual threats. Willy has been able to run to extend some plays so I wouldn't say he's an immobile statue back there, but you don't NEED to be a runner to succeed in the CFL. Calvillo and Ray are proof positive of that, but if you can't pass in the CFL you're pretty useless as a qb.

Team Losing Because Of Coaching Decisions

pretty much exactly the bolded. He goes out and has a rough game fans would be no kinder to him than they are to Brohm and we'd run him out of town. It's the way things work in Winnipeg, Overall the fan base treats qbs the same way Mike Kelly did. They're not an instant success despite the adversity they have to face toss em on the scrap heap and keep trying until you find that instant smash hit. -

There were those of us who lobbied long and hard for MB to be replaced in the offseason. -
Team Losing Because Of Coaching Decisions

Marve is doing what a lot of young rookie qbs do, when the speed of the game is too much for his brain to process he uses his legs to improvise. It's a great skill to have and one of the reasons I don't mind if he's the guy coming off the bench as opposed to Brohm, just because it's a good change of pace... but that kind of quarterbacking won't work long term as your starter. If you're lucky you'll get a year out of it before teams realize the guy can't beat them with his arm and just play to keep him in the pocket and throw the ball. Give Marve time to become a professional quarterback before we throw him to the wolves. -
Damn stubborn O'Shea refusing to make changes when things aren't working well enough!

Brohm's yet to throw a TD, has thrown several INT's, hasn't moved the offence, and the whole team goes flat when he comes in. How much more rope do you think he needs to hang himself? Not much. If he gets the starters reps all week and craps the bed in a game he starts I expect them to take a long hard look at the situation. -

what do you think this is? Training camp? Brohm is #2 on the depth chart and Marve is #3, that won't change until Brohm has enough rope to hang himself in game time. -
I don't think Bellefool has the imagination to run an offence like that.

As a shameless Ian Wild fanboi I would love to have him back in Winnipeg,

Team Losing Because Of Coaching Decisions

Look the last 2 games were hard situations for any quarterback to come into. The team lost it's starter and it got them down mentally. There are enough excuses to be found that it is understandable that you don't make a change at qb, especially if you believe that Brohm understands the system better, and why shouldn't he? He's an older more experienced qb, I hope he understands things. That's probably a big comfort to the coaches. But don't fret about it too much, guys don't get unlimited chances to not produce. If he gets a week of prep as the starter and still goes out and poops his pants things will start to change. -
you want less commercials? Stop listening to CJOB. No business is going to turn down money and listeners don't pay radio stations money. That comes from the advertisers.

Supporting casts also played a major role. In 88-89 Lemieux put up 199 points and his linemates were Rob Brown & Bob Errey. With Lemieux Brown was a 40 goal scorer; without him he was an AHLer. By the time Lemieux had a decent supporting cast he couldn't stay healthy. Put a healthy Lemieux on those 80s Oilers teams and he'd hold all of the season scoring records. I think winning the Art Ross after missing 1/4 of a season with cancer is one of the most impressive feats in hockey history. IMO, Lemieux was the most talented player ever, but Gretzky gets the title of greatest ever due to his records and influence on the game. Like having Semenko as his linemate? Come on now let's not blow things out of proportion here. Gretzky was so far ahead of his Oiler team mates in scoring it's laughable to even think about it.

Considering how many lunatics are in this fanbase I take being in the minority as a compliment. It's the same with Jets fans, bunch of raving lunatics who see things as either being perfect or being the worst thing since cancer.

That second and 3 play, where Edmonton stacked the box, and Willy handed off to Cotton for a two yard loss, just had me screaming at the TV. Everyone knew a hand-off was coming, and yet MB just made Willy do it anyway. Same with the hand-off to Marshall on the 3 yard line. Brohm should have had AT&T on his helmet, he was telegraphing that play so much. Believe me I was ranting at it in the stadium too. they had it listed as 2nd and 2 on the board there and I said to Noeller "just watch, hand off to Cotton up the middle and stuffed" sure enough hand off up the middle and nothing doing. I know you should be able to get 2 yards out of your OL and RB, but come on, at least make the defence unsure what you're going to do. Everyone and their dog knew what play was coming there.

You know what, I can completely understand why a defenceman would put Mario higher. He had a better physical package than Gretzky did so individually he could probably beat you just by being big and strong. Gretzky wasn't ever going to do that. However Gretzky being the smartest player to ever put on a pair of skates and pick up a stick meant that none of that mattered one lick because he would just come up with some way to embarrass you that no one else ever thought of. Gretzky is just plain old the best player ever. He changed the game so much. No one has dominated the way he did and I don't think we'll ever see anyone dominate to that level again.

What context is needed? You're a one note poster saying the same stuff every time there's a loss then you bugger off when the team wins and don't say anything.
-
What's the point of keeping someone on your neg list if they don't want to sign with you? Yeah technically you could keep their rights forever, but if they flat out tell you "Nope not signing with you no matter what kind of contract I get offered" then you're only wasting your time and neg list spaces hanging onto them out of spite, might as well remove them and move on.;Sure you're giving them up willingly, but in a more accurate sense you're losing them because they don't want to sign with you.

Yeah I suspect that it probably didn't look so bad on TV because that always happens, but it rained steadily and heavily the entire first half and into the 3rd quarter. The first FG that was missed you could clearly tell that it was short simply on account of Lirim didn't trust his footing for ****. The ball was being dropped a ton, players didn't have great footing, or at least didn't trust their footing. Just an all around sloppy rainy day game as one might logically expect. Then the rain cleared off and the esks made some plays and the Bombers didn't.
-
So the loss is on Brohm? Get real. Willy has yet to score a TD vs Esks in three starts. Where did I say that the loss was on Brohm? All I said was that the team plays with their heads up their asses when he's in the game. Case in point the one interception that should have been a first down catch but got volleyed up and picked up. Or how about the defence collapsing as soon as Willy got hurt in Edmonton and against Hamilton? The reason they lost is pretty simple, they got outplayed badly when the rain stopped. I didn't assign blame to anyone, you made that assumption, all I said was the team deflates like a popped balloon when Willy goes down and Brohm comes in and even the players admit that it happens. Let's not read imaginary comments into my posts OK?
-
I'm thinking more and more that the team just doesn't have any kind of faith in Brohm at all. They play hard for Willy and they seemed to respond to Marve but when Brohm goes in it's all academic, everyone is playing with their heads up their asses. Once that happens it doesn't really matter how well the qb knows the offence.
-
He's not getting it done and the other guy has gotten it done, isn't that the entire basis of your Marve vs. Brohm support? Why the different opinion here? Stoudemire might have been great last year, but this year he's been useless and actually a detriment to the team whereas Veltung has been good. 2 chances is plenty in my opinion, when the CFL is as tight as it is you can't piss away games letting guys figure it out.

It's not about being a better fan it's about being a more rational human being. I mean if you want to fly off the handle over a loss then go nuts but don't expect to be taken seriously when you do it.

He sat on the trainers table the whole time and never moved, if he had been able to play in an emergency situation I'd have thought he would be able to at least get up but he didn't move at all.

yes sacks are always important with only 3 downs, hell I remember reading something a year or two ago about an american getting their first exposure to the CFL and marvelling how much sacks riled up the crowd and then realizing how important they were since it put a team in a long situation to get a first down. Really just a common sense thing.
