  1. yeah cause the NDP always reviatalizes things... yikes. I fear for this country if the NDP get in federally. full blown constituational crisis because they just won't be able to keep their dirty little fingers out of provincial territory.
  2. You really don't understand what happened in Alberta do you? Here let me tell you what happened, and it started a long time ago, well before this election or even the one before that. When Ralph Klein stepped down Stelmach was elected leader of the PCs. This was not popular because in the leadership convention he was not the first choice for most of the party, he won based on the strength of 2nd and 3rd place votes. A guy from Edmonton leads the PCs, that didn't sit well with Southern Alberta (aka Calgary) and a lot of the support from Calgary (where all the big corporations are housed) shifted to the Wild Rose party. They built up steam and looked poised to win in the election before last because Stelmach really started to lose support with the way he handled oil and gas royalties and started spending more than the government was taking in. So the PCs elected Redford as the leader thanks to liberals being fearful of a further right WR government jumping on her side and voting en masse to keep the WR out. This gutted the Liberal party and gave Redford her big majority. She then proceeded to treat the government funds like her own personal piggy bank and never show any remorse for it instead choose to cry sexism. This did not sit well with Albertans and everyone was ready to boot her out. So Prentice comes in and calms the storm a bit.... until he puts his foot in his mouth a couple times and drops a budget that was the exact opposite of what Albertans were asking for. Because he gamed the WR into most of them crossing the floor he thought his opposition was all gone and he could coast to another mandate. Basically saying to Alberta "Yeah you're pissed at us, but what are you going to do? Vote NDP?" This was nothing to do with the NDP and everything to do with the PCs getting tossed out. The fact that the races were so close in a lot of ridings shows how undecided the voters were on what they wanted. The one thing Alberta wanted was the PCs kicked out of office, they couldn't decide who to elect though. The Wild Rose was gutted just before the election, the Liberals and Alberta party couldn't even field a full slate of candidates, the only party without a crisis on it's hands was the NDP and they became the defacto place for unhappy people to park their vote. I know a lot of people who would never vote NDP who voted for them just because they wanted the PCs booted out so badly. That's the key difference. Harper hasn't pissed off Canada to the extent that 40+ years of PC governments in Alberta had. There are lots of questions about how the NDP will do. Can they overcome the Bob Rae stigma in Ontario? Will Quebec still vote enmasse for them like they did last time or will they feel that the ultra federalist policies of the NDP aren't in Quebecs best interest? Too early to put much faith in polls because C-51 is still fresh in peoples minds, that will fade by election time and the Conservative machine is very good at controlling the message. Good post 17/85..Oh I full well know what happened in Alta....mainly there is big change in the voting demographic there.....More young people who aren't attached to the old party regimes are voting and I would expect the same will happen in the federal....Harper and his cronies....Duffy gate and all of the other borderline criminal actions this fed. govt. has taken part in ...Del Mastro...conservative senators are front and centre and will be when the writ is dropped...Harper won't survive and it's beginning to show in the polls...Hello Tom Mulcair.. But statements like that show that you don't know what is going on. Change in demographics? No, people got fed up with the PCs full stop. Even people who have been voting for them for 40 years got fed up with them. That is it. No one was supporting the NDP, you look at some of the loser candidates who got elected and you see this was about punting the PCs out on their asses and the wild rose being decimated prior to the election and unable to mount any kind of challenge. It is a completely different situation to what is going on federally. There was no big shift in Alberta, just the voters got tired of the PCs behaving badly and it was building for a long time before it actually happened. It might have been the WR last time if not for last minute panic about a change. So the PCs got another chance and behaved even worse than they had been so people finally threw them out.
  3. you post on reddit don't you?
  4. People you can rely on. Guys who are always on the IR are unreliable and you are better off looking for a better option than them and spending money on someone who is going to be able to play most of the games for you. You rely on injury prone players you better have good ******* depth behind them or it's trouble when they inevitably get hurt.
  5. Just think of politics like a sport and it's every bit as addicting.

  7. the polls show 3 parties essentially neck and neck, so in that case it depends on where the votes are concentrated and say what you want about Harper and the Conservatives but they know how to get elected and they have been targeting ridings as opposed to sheer popular vote numbers. Basically they are trying to win seats not get 40%+ popular vote. It would take a huge collapse of their base in order for the NDP to win I think. Now the Liberals, that's an interesting story. Nice to see Trudeau the saviour blowing up in their faces. Serves them right.
  8. The people who boast about money in Calgary are the low bred people who suddenly have money and act like they aren't still low born people, as if money is a substitute for class. I just have a low tolerance for begging. If you don't want to pay the price of admission then don't go, but to beg for a hand out, well that's just not something I will ever tolerate.
  9. I have never understood how it can be socially acceptable to say "I'm poor" ....I mean, I've been relatively poor when I was in my early 20s, but I can't think of anything more embarrassing to actually admit in public. Honestly. If you can't afford something, then keep quiet about it, but to out-and-out beg for something and say "I'm poor, give me something free or drastically discounted..." ?? I can't imagine something worse... I can think of worse things. Like shaming someone for being poor, and calling them an embarrassment. No one is shaming anyone for being poor, only for begging.
  10. Not with that attitude you can't
  11. The point is that if you want to get a ticket to something you gotta pay the price for it. Begging for a discount is just really lame. Don't like the price don't go, but begging? Might as well get a piece of cardboard and a sharpie and find a good street corner.
  12. Holy entitlements Batman!
  13. Bauer is also the reason we even had a team after the Reinbold years left us teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. His strong-arming of creditors to forgive $5 million in loans saved the team from dying, so given the choice of team or no team at all, those other sins seem a lot easier to forgive, no? He is also the reason Ritchie was here in the first place, and coaches are ultimately hired to be fired, so a saw-off there in my opinion. I heard Ritchie had created a split in the locker room between "his guys" (rumoured to be the more religious types, and those who had Sunday dinners at his place, or something crazy like that) and "the outsiders" on the team. What role Bauer played in squashing that, or directing him out the door, I won't speculate on, so I'll take your word for it. His blight will certainly be forcing out Doug Berry to personally hand Mike Kelly a head coaching job and essentially the keys to the whole shop, which then forced out Taman as collateral damage, and then bolted himself when it went south. THAT is much harder to forgive given how it all turned out for the Bombers (and Taman too) in hindsight. But he inherited a gawd-awful team (on the field) AND franchise (off it), salvaged them both, and at least kept the off-field half of it from falling back into serious disrepair on his way out. So I can give him a lifetime pass for saving the franchise from financial ruin, although sometimes I'll say his name through clenched teeth when the phrase "handled internally, next question" comes up. Ritchie was hired before Lyle Bauer, that's why they had friction. They were both guys who wanted to do things their way or the highway. I give Bauer credit for the work he did with the finances, but I think it's incorrect to assume that someone else couldn't have done similar. Bauer's legacy is tarnished because of Daley and Kelly and all the turmoil he put the team through.
  14. Bauer did some good things for the team but he is the reason Dave Ritchie was run out of town and we had to suffer through Jim Daley and he is the reason we had to suffer through MIke Kelly, I can not forgive those sins.
  15. Im a sucker for family reunion. I hope KW trade for him. Two words - Cauchy Muamba. LOL - we know Jabar Westerman is not Cauchy Muamba Yah, I know, just trying to temper the MBB circle jerk mentality of "his brother is great so he must be great - we have to sign him" that was prevalent when Henoc Muamba was around (or when Brett Cameron was going to be the next CFL all-star punter, so we had to trade up to draft him). Sign him if the skills (and any off-field baggage issues) justify it, not because he shares DNA traits with another player. Family ties do not ensure greatness, just ask Brett Gretzky. Well at the time it wasn't JUST that Henoc was good so people figured Cauchy must be good too, Cauchy was seen as a decent safety as well. He didn't progress and the rest is history but it wasn't just a case of getting a brother here because of the family name. Yes he was.......by Joe Mack. 'Nuff said. by everyone, I swear the amount of revisionist history that goes on around these parts is insane.

  17. If Willy can stay upright and keep the offense moving, then all of this Marve talk is going to be moot. The only time there is a QB controversy is when the number one guy isn't getting it done. And for the last half of last season, Willy wasn't getting it done. Walters did what he had to do to improve the o-line. Now it's up to Marcel and Drew. I have faith in WIlly, less so in Marcel.
  18. It's funny because Marve himself has acknowledged where he needs to work on his game, how come his fan boys can't accept that as well?
  19. This is the most laughable post you have made. You vs. Blue fanoys? No this is you vs. common sense. You once again got your nose out of joint because the team didn't use your faulty logic when making decisions and you're claiming that it's just team can do no wrong fanboys arguing with you because anyone with any shred of logic would agree with you. Maybe, just maybe when it's you vs. the world you are the one using faulty logic. Us "fanboys" and the teams coaches and GMs all said why not take all the time you are afforded? Sure 5 days is long enough to make decisions, if they had to make more cuts in the next 5 hours they'd be able to do that too, but there really is no harm in taking all the time you are afforded. Do you really supposed that a couple extra bodies around for a couple days really takes away that many reps from people? Hell a guy like Yantz from all accounts is barely taking any reps as is so clearly there's a pecking order established already and the guys with an actual shot at the team are getting the bulk of the reps anyway. Common Sense? Hardly ever see it from you. Obviously you don't know it when you see it. Face it... You're just Aardvaark with an attitude. If the Bombers do it, it's right and everyone who disagrees is wrong and should be taken to task. It's always the same around here. I make a post where I disagree with something the Bombers have done. It doesn't matter what it is... Pencer, Jade, Kelly, Mack, management decisions etc.. The same group of folks, I call them the 'Fan Boys' take it upon themselves to take my comment, usually a single line, blow it way out of proportion as if it's some sort of personal slight and they go off. Usually that's in the form of making things up that I didn't say then complaining about them. Often it includes personal attacks, grade school 'humour' and the ever popular 'You know as much as the coaches or GM's so shut up'. In this case, the concept was simple. I think the Bombers should have made their cuts before the last second because they had a lot of time to make their decisions and because every other team who didn't have to play on Friday did. That's it. The thread goes off the rails for a couple of days. Nothing new's been said since the first hour or so. Really stupid, but that's how it works around here. I have criticized the team when warranted so don't give me that nonsense. Here's the problem. It is you who doesn't recognize common sense if it jumps up and bites you in the ass, yet you think you do and because you are so deluded you can't see how wrong you are. You don't take **** because you post contrary opinions, you take **** because you are closed minded and refuse to accept that perhaps you are mistaken.
  20. People already complain that the first couple games are glorified exhibition games and you want to shorten preseason even more? Not fewer games, but maybe less practice time. Maybe start rookie camp earlier as veterans don't seem to need/want as much practice time during TC. I'm just looking for some creative solutions, unlike you who just likes to complain.Yeah cause less practice time is sure to make those first games better played. You say creative ideas, I say stupid ideas not even worth considering. Longer preseason would be better for the leagues overall playYour reply really doesn't surprise me. You're the "Debbie Downer" of MBB.I'm only down on stupid ideas. Sorry your got your feelings hurt but shortening the preseason is not a good idea. Makes the start of the regular season even uglier and I'm not interested in seeing more glorified preseason games in the regular season. The early season games are already meaningless enough.I'm suggesting less practice time for veterans, start rookie camp earlier and still play 2 preseason games. It's a complex idea that I wouldn't expect you to understand. I know what you're suggesting, apparently my objections are beyond you. Even veterans need practise time. They sacrifice reps so that they can evaluate more rookies but that doesn't mean they always hit the season in stride. Give them more warm up time as well as giving the rookies more time and you see a sharper team overall come game 1. See how easy it is to follow? That's the point of why I keep bring up the ugly early season games, vets are still shaking the rust off in those games.

  23. Jeff Petry is a good defenseman. He made whoever his partner was on the Oilers look better. Yeah he was a bit miscast as a #1 defencemen and had some struggles when doing too much but the dude could play the game. As a #3 he is perfect for the role. The way McTavish bungled that situation is likely what ultimately got him fired cause it was the #2 mistake after Eakins. Could have had him locked up for about 4 million a year but didn't want to pay him that much. Just idiocy.
  24. denial is a horrible thing. You can deny it all you like but you are entitled. You want decisions made on your schedule and if they're not made in accordance with when you want it then you start slagging the decision makers as fools. That my friend is entitlement whether you want to call it that or not. As for the cuts, biggest surprise to me is west given how much he came along on special teams over the years. Shows how much you actually read. I don't want all the decisions to be made on my schedule. I disagree with some of the decisions. I've never called the decision makers fools. I don't think I'm entitled, I think personal decisions can be made in under 5 days. Most of the cuts were pretty easy to make. When the Bombers make different choices than I would, I point that out. When they make decisions that I agree with, I point that out. It's called having a mind of my own. Agreeing with everything the Bombers do is called 'Fan Boy', which is a title worn by a group of posters around here who want to 'yell down' everyone who disagrees with anything. I can read just fine thanks, can you? Right there, looks like you set a schedule and think the Bombers should stick to it right? You act the same way all the time and then deny you act that way.
  25. If Peach is the worst player on the DL I can live with that. I still say he's best off as your first guy off the bench though.
