  1. I missed that reference. What happened to Stamps? Years back, Hefney hit him in a "personal area" and he had to have an operation to remove "something". http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/cfl/the-sad-story-of-eskimos-slotback-fred-stamps-lost-******** Ouch. If I recall he stayed in the game for a least a while too! The man earned some serious respect
  2. I will be signing autographs, limit one per person, no personalized greetings. $10 per.
  3. I will admit though that I do get a smug sense of satisfaction seeing the admins smack someone with the ban hammer.
  4. even I can restraint myself and I love to feed trolls when I get bored.
  5. Collaros is passing well enough that they don't just have to take away the run. Arm strength is about the last thing I care about when looking at attributes a qb should have. It's a nice bonus but it's not really all that critical. If the guy can read a defence and put the ball where it needs to be then arm strength by and large doesn't matter a lot. Doug Flutie is maybe the best example. There's a guy who could beat you with his legs, but the key for him is that he could also beat you with his arm despite it being not overly strong. It's all about not being one dimensional.
  6. He might have more potential than Willy, but he might not. Willy isn't chopped liver either. Guy is a pretty decent passer, just needs more blocking because he doesn't have as much ability to scramble. But at least we know that when you give him time he can pass the ball.
  7. I have been saying all offseason they needed to come up big in the receiver department this offseason because last year the receivers were not good enough. Having to use Kelly and Romby Bryant was a handicap on the O. Let's hope these new faces work out.
  8. Yeah and everyone agreed that he did well in his time last year, but others have been watching the CFL long enough to know that a qb using his legs to buy time and improvise as a rookie doesn't always mean he's ready for prime time when teams go in gaming to shut that scrambling down. Everyone would love the guy to progress to the point where he is a legit starter cause the athleticism is impressive and he's got a big arm. Just need to see him learn to be a poised pocket qb now too.
  9. I for one like that threads can evolve into different topics, that's how conversations naturally flow.
  10. Any show is a better show then Adler's. I like that he asks the hard questions, but he sometimes goes too far with his own agenda and acts like one child making fun of another child. And that is what happens when you try to be a Bill O'Reilly/Ezra Levant clone. Yeah, the important thing to remember is that you don't really know if it's "his" agenda, or just one side that he's choosing to be on for the sake of argument. It's more like playing a character. Not sure if a guy in that position is going to show his real-life true colours... How do people not understand that it's all entertainment? It's like the heels in the pro 'rasslin. Just trying to get a reaction out of people and in order to do that you gotta go over the top. No one gets excited about a moderate balanced opinion on the radio. It's not the fact that we don't know, it's the fact that this is CJOB, not WWF. I used to listen to this station when I was little and went over to my grandparents who had it on all day long every day and it used to be good. Now it's just getting lame, and his show is making it that way. It's just what you said, over the top. But it's still entertainment so it is comparable. The market for listeners is competitive these days. It's not just other radio stations either. There are so many options for someone looking for some audio entertainment even talk radio has to hop on the sensationalism bandwagon. No one gets excited to listen to moderate opinions. Gotta get people riled up.
  11. and no one is saying Marve can't make that step either, just that his performance last year is not necessarily an indicator of his final form.
  12. ehhh differing opinions are fine, blatant trolling (and poor trolling at that) is completely different.
  13. Bust Just a bad attitude, and if you don't agree your a moran.

  15. What? Did you watch practice or preseason at all last season? All I hear about Marve is how well the guy can throw. Marve was the Bombers' best QB in training camp, and maybe even in practice, last season and was very good with limited reps in the regular season. The offence performed incredibly well with Marve at the helm, considering the circumstances (down by 16 against the best team in the league in the first game, awful weather in the second one). They scored 29 points (should've been 36) in the 53 minutes that he played. He was only sacked once during that time, did not throw an interception nor fumble the ball... He basically did everything necessary to win games. Marve has excellent potential, and frankly, I think it's stupid to suggest he might not stay on the roster. I agree that Marve has a lot of upside and possibly could be better than WIlly in the future. I don't think JBR was disputing that, nor do I see anywhere that he thinks he will be cut. However, there is more to throwing than just arm strength. Last year Marve did not show the ability to recognize certain coverages and did not get the ball out in a timely fashion. While this made for some tremendous excitement when he scrambled, these were broken plays. Until Marve learns to read coverages, can take a 3-5 step drop and deliver the ball he will not be surpassing anyone on the DC. Marve looked decent last year in limited playing time. A quick look at his stats will show that he was far from incredible. I get it...you're stoked about what could be a good young QB, however, I think you are overstating things right now concerning Marve. And the most important part, is that when teams know about a qb they can game plan for him. See it all the time, young scrambling qbs come in look good in year one, then when there's film on them and teams just take away their room to run and force them to win with just their arm they struggle. Casey Printers is a great example. If you kept him in the pocket he was terrible, you gave him room to run he could be dangerous. Marve needs to show that next step of being able to hurt teams with just his arm consistently because relying on the ability to run isn't always going to be available.
  16. Bloggers are the most self important people out there. Really hard to read.
  17. is that a fat joke?
  18. There was another SNL sketch that had CFL footage in it too. A lot of the football footage in movies and TV is CFL, I assume because they don't have to pay jack **** for the rights to it.
  19. Yeah the size of the balls is the same now and growing up the football I had was one of the big fat ones, I had to re-learn how to catch the damned ball because of that when all of a sudden everyone has these wee little balls we toss around.
  20. You truly are the best insider around Mike, we all appreciate how hard you work to keep us informed.
  21. Exactly....and when he starts catching everything that Willy throws his way...there'll be a few people trying to choke down some of those black feathers of that infamous bird AND I'll be here to add a little salt LOL nah, everyone will be crowing about how they knew all along he was great.
  22. No we had a meeting, everything is blamed on the NDP now.
  23. Surprised with the release of Tim Brown, he's a great return man. He's 30, or almost 30. He's primarily a return guy. Surely anybody much less Wally could find a younger guy to do the same. So you're saying Taman is going to sign him...
  24. Really? Etienne couldn't even play special teams. Basically useless for a game day roster And yet I still remember him making more of an impact at receiver in more games than Poblah ever did. Like I said, Poblah had that one good game vs. the Riders and a whole lot of nothing.
  25. Poblah played a grand total of about 1 good game while he was here. Guy might be a good athlete but as a receiver he leaves a lot to be desired. I'd take Etienne back before POblah.
