  1. if he's not complaining then why the article about his troubles getting citizenship? It's a classic play for preferential treatment because of his celebrity status.
  2. Edmontons D is bad when they're all healthy, but with Petry traded, Fayne, Ference and Nikitin hurt they're all babies. Klefbom and Schultz are the top pairing for gods sake. That's one guy just getting his feet wet in the NHL and another who in an ideal world should be getting big time sheltered minutes as purely a PP guy and low ES minutes guy. They're dressing both Davidson and Musil who both should be no where near the NHL at this point. They might be NHL players some day but right now they're still AHL defenders. Marincin is just getting his NHL feet wet too. It's just too much youth and inexperience. Ference and Nikitin might suck but at least they're veterans who can get through a game most nights. As to your first point, did anyone say that Nelson was a great coach? All anyone has ever said was Eakins was ******* terrible and the results were much better before and after him. That's the point here. Stop pretending the Eakins time is the actuality of how the team should be performing. It's not. Kreuger had them in 8th in the lock out year before they stumbled late, Nelson had them playing .500 hockey before they lost all their experienced D. That's about what the team should look like if healthy. Not great but not an embarassment either. Kind of where the Jets were before this season.
  3. The Oilers suck right now, but that's because they traded Petry when they couldn't afford to lose him then all their other experienced defencemen got hurt. Seriously the most experienced D they are dressing lately is Justin Schultz. When healthy it's a better team than people think, but because Eakins ****** them around for so long people got this idea that they were worse than they actually are. Prior to trading Petry Nelson basically had them playing .500 hockey and with a chance to win most games. That is what should be expected of the Oilers at this point, though they do need to get a replacement for Petry in the offseason rather badly. Forget what Eakins did to that team, he was brutal. Look at how they were under Nelson before their D got decimated and how they were under Kreuger. That's more a reflection of the teams actual abilities. Eakins was THAT bad. He only got a year and a half because MacT loved him and couldn't accept that he made a mistake. Any other team and Eakins would have been fired a month in.
  4. A country does a disservice to itself and all of its citizens to not apply the rules for immigrating. You don't meet the standards set forth then you should not be allowed to be a citizen. Those of us who were born here are damned lucky and privileged. We shouldn't make it easy for just anyone to get in. I think we'd be doing ourselves a disservice if we make the rules such that a person like Henry, who lives, works, and does a tremendous amount of community service here in our country, cannot become a citizen, despite multiple attempts. The rules are not some secret though, if the guy wanted to become a citizen he should have been working on it. It's the arrogance of people like that to think that it's like taking out a library card. They want it so they should be able to get it regardless. No. The rules are there for a reason, don't make exceptions hold everyone to the same standard. He wants to be a citizen he can start by getting his permanent residency and go from there.

  6. Peach is a guy who is good enough to play but never going to be a star and if you think he's your star player your DL sucks. If he was the guy coming off the bench then great, but as the best DE on the team, no thanks.
  7. But we were fully in agreement that it is purely wishful thinking.
  8. If no one tells them they are wrong how will they ever learn?
  9. Given a choice between no info and useless fluff I choose no info every time.
  10. It's not about expecting anything, it's about mocking an obvious and very lame PR job. It's quite frankly a little bit insulting that they think they need to do this kind of stuff. I'd expect that from the Riders, but no the Bombers. Blatant self promotion dressed up as something insightful is just annoying.
  11. once again this blog can be summed up like this: "I walked into Kyle Walters office and man oh man is this guy just the best. He is bar none the best GM in the league and he is ensuring the long term success of this team for years and years to come" I understand they gotta put the positive spin on things but this is just so over the top it's ridiculous. I honestly expected a line in there about how Walters and O'Shea helped a few old ladies cross the street before getting to work.
  12. Should we shrink the field and add an extra down as well? Maybe play with one less player per side? **** off with the NFL bullshit.
  13. The CFL needs to learn that sometimes you just have to leave well enough alone. They never learn their lesson it seems. Too many rules that come up in the moment because something happened the year before and they have no eye for the long game.
  14. There is one reason: space. You put that stuff in the cockpit and you lose room for seats and paying customers.
  15. Kamau Peterson? No not Kamau Peterson...he was Canadian and I believe played a lot of football before he got to the CFL. This guy was a track star of some kind and we brought him in to see if he could catch the football too. Didn't make it out of TC.
  16. You know what, I wear Bomber t-shirts and a cap a ton, even on vacation. I won't judge fans for wearing team gear. That's not to say we can't still mock Rider fans for being the bandwagon jumpers they are though.
  17. Willy and his agent would be silly not to do everything they can to cash in. Walters and the Bombers would be silly to just give in. This is just plain and simple negotiating, it'll get worked out. He wants to stay and the Bombers want to keep him.
  18. Alberta?? We didn't really have winter here in Calgary. Snow's been gone for a month. And even when we get winter there's a chinook rolls around every few weeks and gives us a break from the cold.
  19. I hate to sound like a broken record, but if we followed this strategy in the year Muamba was taken #1 we would have wound up with Mitchell and that wouldn't have done a god damned thing to help the OL. At least we got a couple years of Muamba being a ratio breaker. Take the BPA always. The only time position comes into play is if there are two players who are close.
  20. At least, that's how he presents his character, anyhow, and it's hilarious. Religulous is one of the best things I've ever seen. but you shouldn't judge the one good thing he's done and hold it up as the standard for him. Rest of the time he's just a whiny liberal ******. He's an anti-vaccine type isn't he?
  21. almost like it's the offseason or something.
  22. Good point, if Bryant gets seriously injured I'm not sure this O-line will do much better than last years edition. An upgrade at Center is great but it's not going to help them much out on the wings. if Bryant gets hurt who we drafted isn't going to make a lick of difference.
  23. He is too far up his own ass to be taken seriously. It's funny to watch people either seriously believe him or get angry about what he's saying, but he's as douchey a ****** as ever douched.
  24. Well yes it puts CO2 in the air, but really everyone in Canada burning natural gas to stay warm is still like peeing in the ocean compared to the CO2 generated by China in a single day. Even if the man-made climate change myth had some validity to it, taxing natural gas just isn't going to do anything to stop it, and is just a revenue grab. So just say so. Also - in terms of "alternate energies" - I support them, as long as people look at the entire picture. Some look at a wind turbine and say "see it doesn't generate any CO2". Well, that's not true. What about all of the CO2 generated in constructing it in the first place? And what about the acid boiling that is required for the giant rare earth magnet in each of those turbines? And what about all the birds that are blended by wind turbines? I'm not a big supporter of wind or solar. I do support nuclear though. This is something that a lot more people need to be aware of. Canada may have a high per capita emissions rate, but we could stop all emissions tomorrow and it wouldn't make one bloody bit of difference. The US, Russia, China, India they all pump out so much that until all of them drastically alter their emissions nothing will change. I don't think you can argue climate change at this point, what you can argue is how serious an issue it is. It's a costly thing to "fix" and I don't know that the economic hardships are worth it. I think a lot of the doom and gloom is overblown. As for wind and solar, in some areas it can be a viable source of energy. In Canada though I don't think solar is all that realistic for a large amount of power, just too few daylight hours in the winter. The big problem with wind and solar is that it's unreliable and affected by too many outside variables to be the dominant supply, but as a supplement I think they have merits.
  25. This is a good thing except it might get used as excuse to jack up the price of some channels since they can't subsidise the crappy channels in packages anymore. I think ideally we see channels that can't generate enough viewers wither and die and I don't think that's a bad thing, but it might also mean some channels cost more than they did before because if there's one thing cable companies know how to do it's **** over their customers.
