  1. I think Walters is well aware of this based on his comments on H&L yesterday. He basically said a successful long term strategy is to draft 2 OLineman each draft. One early that can compete with the team this year and one later that can develop and come back the following year. Unfortunately you can't magically fix an O-Line over night. Amazing how fast Drowsy Joe Mack took it apart two years ago. That was like, two days. Lost Labatte & Picard. Now it takes years to rebuild. You gotta stop acting like we actually had Picard when Mack was here. He was never on this team when Mack was here. Never mind that Picard isn't the difference between a good OL and a bad OL either.
  2. Get a feeling Sears will exhaust his NFL aspirations, if none come to fruition, Don't think any will, Think he will come back to the bombers. Hope you're right Goalie but like I said, O'Shea made him a healthy scratch for half the year. You know he wants to play - he'll sign where his best opportunity is (and the most money) and unless MOS changes his tune it's not Wpg - if O'Shea liked him so much, he would have found a way to get him in the lineup. It was only injuries that got him in. And realized the error of his ways, why do you leave that point out? There was a very clear change in his approach later in the year. Rookie head coach makes mistakes, learns from them. This is a pretty big thing you want to gloss over all the time. I don't think Sears will go elsewhere unless the Bombers cheap out on him or he gets an NFL opportunity. Can you really see other CFL teams making a big offer to the guy knowing that he has had problems staying healthy? Maybe Ottawa but again if you're choosing a team on the rise that you've played your whole career for or that **** show in Ottawa it's not much of a choice. what did I leave out 17? Want to read my post again? I said once Sears got back in, he played so well that MOS couldn't take him out of the line up again. Or, do I need to say that every single post I make (check the previous page). You left out the fact that O'Shea seemingly learned that it's a mistake to sit out your best players because he started to be more proactive with his roster as the year went on. THAT is what you glossed over to further your silly notion that there's a feud between the coach and player.

  4. Calgary is the model? I'm sold but how much do we have to pay to get Hufnagel here?
  5. care to give a recap of what makes you feel that way? I didn't catch it.Well I recommend trying to listen to it. But from what I recall, he talked about how much the inability to stop the run hurt us this season. He provided stats on that too...seems like he's clearly done his homework/analysis. He suggested O'Shea knows the run D is a problem but that O'Shea protects the coaches during the season; that was part of his plan going into the season. Said figuring out the coaching staff is his and O'Shea's first priority now; to me that says there's uncertainty there. If this is what he said then the writing is on the wall big time.... but if they fire Etch and keep Bellefool I'll be irate. One is much more deserving of a firing than the other.
  6. holy underrating Ian Wild Batman! Guy had 73 tackles while missing a few games and playing in that kooky Etchevary scheme. I dunno how much you pay the guy but he's better than just above average.
  7. Well I enjoy Maher sometimes but he is really up his own ass and that can be off putting depending on what he's talking about. Moore is a waste of skin who outright lies and twists facts to suit his agenda, kind of like the folks on the right wing news stations.
  8. I have a pretty good guess. Tomorrows Paul Friesen article "Walters says O'Shea won't be fired but is he telling the truth? This intrepid reporter thinks O'Shea should be fired or at very least openly questions by fans, media and management every day until he is fired because that's what I want to write about damn it!"
  9. Except I didn't say people who watched those networks were idiots, I said the people who actually take them seriously are idiots. It's entertainment and I am convinced they're all doing the same schtick a Stephen Colbert except everyone knows that Colbert is a comedian playing a bit, some people actually think the commentators on those news networks aren't playing characters. I will often read the Calgary Sun when I'm getting an oil change, and every single time I roll my eyes at the opinion pieces spinning things into some huge left wing conspiracy. It's obvious baiting and sensationalism yet there are people who take it at face value, those are the idiots. It's no different than those left wing blogs you see people taking seriously too. Most of the mainstream networks do have a bit of a lean to the left to them I won't disagree with that, but none of them to the extent that Fox News or Sun News go in the opposite direction. I say this as someone who has always voted conservative. These imbeciles going full ***** with their right wing news do more harm to real conservative values than they help it and I wish they'd cut it out so that progressive conservatives stop getting lumped in with the intolerant assholes. Conservative has become a dirty word and it's in large part because of those types.
  10. That's because the president doesn't matter. So long as the senators are all bought and paid for the president doesn't have the ability to change anything. That's the biggest reason why people think Obama hasn't been good, they don't accept the fact that the American system is horribly broken and it's the lobby groups that have the real power and not elected officials and certainly not the president.
  11. Everyone should watch the video in its entirety. And can we please punt the CBC already? sun news network? now don't get me wrong I'm a conservative leaning person anyway, but sun news is at this point basically parody. You have to wonder sometimes if they're actually in on the joke. They're trying to be Fox News, but the idiot demographic in Canada isn't nearly as large as in the US, so they struggle for an audience. So conservatives are idiots? Thank God Fox news exists or it would be all smiling Obama-is-great rhetoric 24/7. No it's not conservatives who are idiots, it's the people who can't see how over the top ridiculous foxnews and sun news network are that are idiots. Right wing media, liberal media they're all equally crazy and both need to stop trying to spin the story to fit an agenda and just report the facts. You seem angry about Obama for some reason, what are those reasons?
  12. I'll second that - Wild is good for certain things, but was too small to stop the run - but Kuale didn't do much for that either. I shudder to think if we lose Wild and Kuale becomes the #1 guy at MLB next year .... I completely disagree, he is big enough, hell he's one of the few guys on the team who can actually consistently make a tackle. The lack of run stopping wasn't a size issues, it was the scheme plain and simple. I understand people wanting a more traditional MLB, but let's not go pretending that this team gave up a bunch of rushing yards cause Wild is a few pounds too light.
  13. Key point. Goodrich is as good of a prospect as Demski in terms of talent. He could be a very good CFL player. I like JFG and Kohlert, I don't think Watson has enough good plays left in him to be a main target. What's the story on Goodrich? Will he be in TC next year? When O'Shea was talking about this on CJOB he mentioned how Watson stayed healthy the second half of the season. Maybe he's on some type of new training regimen where they're more confident in him staying healthy. he stayed healthy but how many catches did he have? He was pretty invisible most of the last half of the season.
  14. and yet Brohm, a pocket passer like Willy ended up having his season ended in the same manner of injury that first caused Willy problems this year, that is he got his hand banged up by guys being too deep in the pocket as he was throwing. I have no doubts that if Brohm took as many snaps as Willy did this year he too would have started holding onto the ball longer. As for Marve, he is able to scramble so that bought himself time, but if teams had some film on him would they simply play contain on him and take away that advantage? It happens a lot. Basically early in the year Willy was doing things to avoid the pressure too but he got worn down over the course of the season, I think the same would happen to the other qbs as well. You know I remember Max Hall talking about the offense in the preseason and saying he was excited because the offense had so many things in it to counter the blitz if the opposition threw that at them... well where were they? This team was woeful against the blitz this year. I think the offense for Bellefeuille is just flawed. Puts too much pressure on the offensive line and that doesn't seem like a good idea when the team is still trying to rebuild that area of the team. Gotta put guys in a position to be successful and I am not sure leaving Willy in the pocket to be a target was a good idea. Sounded like in the final game though they were moving Willy around a bit, but again, why did it take 18 games to figure that out?

  16. I think what most of us want is for the team to do better than "no worse than Romby"
  17. well I think being benched the last few games means the writing was already on the wall for Kelly
  18. On paper the trio of Fantuz, Getzlaf and Bagg probably didn't scare the opposition at first back in '08. Line them up with Dressler, Matt Dominguez, Prechae Rodriguez, guys like that, it can work. A lot of not scary NIs on the Bomber roster had pretty decent seasons this year. I'm willing to give these guys opportunities. It's just flat out unfair to compare Fantuz to the guys we have. He was always seen as a better player than all of them. And the other 2? No one trembled at the idea of the Riders starting 3 NI receivers. But it worked. Fantuz was a highly touted top ranked pick. So is Demski. Bagg was an undrafted longshot. Sounds a bit like Feoli-G. Kohlert put up more yards this year than Getzlaf. Cory Watson 2015 = Corey Grant 2007? Feoli-G put up 210 yards in very limited use this year, the first where anyone tried to use him as a receiver. Getzlaf put up 247 in his first year. The guys I know who are involved in amateur football speak pretty highly of Goodrich. Comparisons to Demski are made. Land him with an exemption and let him learn on the PR, keep Carter in the mix, and maybe look at a free agent. Rather than dismissing the idea just because they are NIs, like we always do, I'm opening up my mind to the idea and realizing we might not be far away from being able to do it. well I'm not going to get into discussing players we don't have on the roster, but the fact that Fantuz was and is better than all 3 that we currently have is kind of the key point here. Get a NI who can play at the level of an I like Fantuz did and it makes it easier right? You need one of those guys to be able to be a reliable go to type, none of ours are that. Watson might have been but with all the time on the IR he isn't. So yeah your comparison to the Riders back then is off by quite a bit.

  20. Yeah but I've never let that stop me in the past. Bring em all back except Bellefool. I got tired of him at the end of the season.
  21. oh there was no possibly about it. They were some kinda special bad.
  22. This would be my concern as well, I'd rather get a 3rd american in there who can play at the level of a guy like Denmark, or close to it. Would help the offense more than the ratio flexibility would help the defense.
  23. That would depend on whether there is a team that is really hot and bothered for a certain player that they don't expect to last until their pick. Best case scenario would be to look at what the return was when BC and the Bombers were trying to trade up to get Westerman.
  24. one of the 21? that's a low bar and not worthy of being a must sign. I can think of some situations where we won't need him as a starter though.... Between Newman and Sherman they use a NI at LB instead, hell let's go completely pie int he sky thinking here, Muamba, Mulumba and Bilukidi all come to the Bombers from the NFL, suddenly you don't need Bucknor starting at all. Now sure that's wishful thinking at it's finest but it's a situation where you laugh at the very notion of Bucknor being that important. As far as Bucknor goes I'd bring him back, but he's not in the most important to bring back category.
  25. and some people do the opposite, downplaying everything Willy did while hyping up Collaros and Crompton to no ends.
