Statue is a great idea. Too bad we don't officially retire player numbers. I know some teams like Pitts/Dallas don't retire numbers and just take them out of service but it definitely looks better when you see names and numbers in a stadium. That is a visible history. If you start retiring numbers in football you might run out of numbers. When was the last time you saw a Bomber playing wearing #85 though? Or #6? There's a few numbers around here that just don't get used.

Any one who watched Grigsby play here knows that it doesn't matter one bit what he does in Hamilton. Guy was too soft and too much of a sissy as a running back to be effective in Winnipeg. It's an easy position to recruit for, why settle for someone who goes down on contact that easy and hesitates before hitting the line of scrimmage? Any scouting department worth it's salt should be able to find runningbacks who can do the job. The fact that Cotton when given the ball looks better should show that Grigsby ain't worth worrying about. It's only two games, but realistically the guy (Cotton) has had limited reps and it does take some time to get your timing down in game speed, plus the whole offense was a train wreck in Edmonton (for some reason, Willy and the Offense match up extremely poorly against the Edmonton D - 3 points at home in their first game and 3 points in real time, 6 in garbage time, here in Edmonton). I hoping Cotton has another strong game. But.... I'll be watching Grigsby to see if he's a liar (the fact it was 'him' against the world here) or telling the truth. Why do you need to watch Grigsby more? We saw him plenty here. No one is saying the OL is blameless, that's why what happened with Cotton in Edmonton is less concerning, the OL got worked there.... but they don't get worked every play and Grigsby we have seen leave a lot of yards on the field. Look if a guy is met by 2 or 3 DL in the backfield then yes we can put the blame on the OL, but if he stops running in the backfield and goes sideways and then gets caught that's on the RB, if he has a hole but gets tripped up by an arm that's on the RB. If he runs into the backside is blockers past the LOS that's on the RB. Grigsby did a lot of those things and that's why it doesn't matter what he does in Hamilton. Cotton seems to be a much more elusive back who is willing to just run into traffic and maybe find a way to squeak out a few extra yards.

3 GC MOP awards suggests the opposite, he was a great QB elevating some very average teams. That just says he did well under pressure. The MOP award generally goes to the winning qb anyway, unless they completely crapped their pants. Apparently a lot of people only remember Damon Allen from his time with the Argos. If he was truly one of the elite qbs the game has seen he would have been on dominant teams because dominant teams have dominant quarterbacks.

I look at the trade as: Neufeld for 2nd rounder 4th rounder for Hall that's a pretty silly way to look at it. it was Neufeld and a 4th for Hall and a 2nd. We gave up the better player and the better draft pick in the trade. Now sure the contract lengths come into play and maybe shift the value to Neufeld over Hall, but the fact that he's injury prone sure doesn't help. Some people just get such raging hard ons over trades they have to tell themselves it was a good trade no matter what. Walters has been pretty iffy in trades. He over pays to get what he wants and that can damage you long term if it becomes a trend.

You can use your assets better than getting injury prone players. If you're gambling then just take draft picks.

Defense has shown some glimmers but I would give the athleticism of the guys playing the credit. Etch's inability to stop the run, game after game after game, shows how stubborn and clueless he is. Bellefool has some pretty lame receivers to work with, not much in terms of running back, and the worst o-line in the league. Granted, saying Bellfool is better than Etch is like giving the award for the worlds tallest midget but whatever. Difficulty with your argument: Etch runs a D that is predicated on the athleticism of his players... The lack of focus on the run is intentional, the belief is you don't lose games because of running teams, and I think that's a pretty fair gamble over all. Too much focus on what they've done vs. the run is silly. They have kept the team in most games and made teams kick a lot of field goals as opposed to touchdowns. Yeah there have been a few poor games by the D, but overall they've given the team chances to win more often than not which is all you can ask given some of the issues that crept up with the team make up this year (notably underwhelming defensive line play for much of the year in particular Anderson getting hurt and Vega having a brutal season) Bellefeuille hasn't adjusted the O much to keep things working smoothly, regardless of lack of talent it's become predictable and easier to defend. Fair enough, but in your post (in bold) you kind of wrote the book on why Etch sucks -- he shows up and suddenly players are underwhelming or have brutal seasons. His schemes (or maybe his coaching/approach) consistently cause players to have their absolute worst seasons of their career. To me, that is the epitome of a bad coach. I'd tie the can to Bellfool too -- make it a package firing. I would say Vega is more related to him playing through constant injuries and Peach not being good enough to be a full time starter and then Anderson getting hurt and the backups not being as good for those reasons though. At the start of the year the D did look better because they didn't have the injuries. So I guess what I'm saying is I put the blame for the underwhelming line play on the GMs table because we didn't have good enough talent and depth there going into the year.

That says everything you need to know about how teams feel about the Riders without Durant "we can beat them with our backups" Cornish is just that real good mix of speed and power. He's big and strong and has good enough balance he can run through tackles but he's also fast enough to break some big runs if he gets a hole. If you can draw up the kind of running back every team wants to have that's the guy there.

Yes there does exist such a thing, but having it carried out by those people is going to make life harder for people of the same race because people do go crazy with the stereotypes and racism, especially after something like this happens.
