He was actually watching Ray's game film, and happened to see Roberts ON that tape, and immediately got a hold of him. Not sure why he didn't continue his pursuit of Ray, but I assume the tape wasn't very good... My understanding is that Ray didn't have to do much when Roberts was there because Roberts got the ball all the time because he was too good.

Used to post on the CFL site a bit back but have found myself not logging on there at all anymore. There seems to be a strong dislike/hatred/jealousy towards THE Bombers and Winnipeg in general there. People just love to hate on winnipeg for some reason on the CFL site. it's the heavy rider fan population. They stack every poll. -
A Bomber loss tonight means _________

Why even bring this up? Positive thoughts people, positive thoughts. -
Yes he was, and Taman signed him to a try out contract. I don't know if that try out ever occurred. I can't find much information about it. It doesn't matter anyway. The reason I mentioned it was simply that Taman has made some good moves in his career.. You can't find out anything about it because it never happened. There is no such thing as a try out contract in the offseason. We scouted him as he was on our neg list and Taman decided against bringing him to camp and released him from our neg list. He was scooped up by the Riders and the rest is history. This particular story does not really flatter Taman all that much. Unless, of course, the point you are trying to make is how he misjudged the talent level of Weston Dressler and allowed him to get away. Actually, the same argument could be made about Simon as well, who phoned the Bombers about a contract before going to BC and was told by Taman to seek employment elsewhere. Did Taman find these guys? Sure. Did he recognize their talent level and keep them? Nope. The fact he originally scouted him is kind of trumped by the fact they became all stars on other teams imo. At the time Simon was coming back he was just another young talented receiver and his position on the team was being filled quite adequately by Arland Bruce. Going back to the start of each careers if you can honestly say you saw a lot to choose between the two you are a liar who is only using hindsight. As it stands Bruce had a hell of a career as well so opting to stick with the guy already there rather than Simon is not a big black mark on Taman.

That's what lazy comedians do. The good ones can be funny in a variety of different ways. I think in Farleys case he really did get typecast way too much. The man had his problems in life but he was a hell of a talent

They could lose every remaining game and it would still be a huge improvement from last year, I think you are forgetting just how bad they were last year. Out of the game before the first quarter was done more nights than not, at least this time when they're getting beaten it's after a close game. I just don't subscribe to this logic. I think it matters where the losses and wins happen. If we had started off this bad, and recently won 5 of 6 I could agree. But were regressing so sharply that has to be taken into account. If we lose every game remaining in the season, including to a terrible Ottawa team, this team is in deep trouble next season. Wins in July and August mean nothing if the team completely falls apart. I just don't get how that's not understood,. You are entitled to be wrong, but when comparing to last year the progression is so obvious it's slapping you in the face. -

And you are wrong to do that. Game 1 was lost purely because of turnovers. Our offense generated more points for the riders via turnovers than the Riders offence did. Labour day I will concede the defense most of the blame, they let that last drive happen too easily. Banjo Bowl was again turnovers. The D got the offense the ball back twice in the dying moments of the game, the first one they threw a pick and that was basically it. Can't be turning the ball over like that and expect to win. -

Dressler? Taman was the GM in Winnipeg when Dressler was signed by the Riders. Taman brought Dressler in with the Bombers. Think it was 2007 but not sure, he was on your practice roster and was later cut. The next year he signed as a walk on with the Riders. I'll have to look it up because I'm second guessing myself now. Don't want to post mis- information. If that were true don't you think us Bomber fans would be raging about that still? At most Dressler was on the neg list at one point but he was never in town.

Marcel is what he is. He's a nice average offensive coordinator. Not going to set the world on fire, won't be terrible either. I've made the comparison before, he's the Kevin Glenn of offensive coordinators. -
You don't give a GM credit for identifying backup qbs that are worth going after? Seems to me that We're giving Walters credit for bringing Willy here, why not give Taman his props for doing that twice for us? Twice in 10 years... and I am not certain he was responsible for landing KJ. Ritchie would have been in on that one. The Glenn trade in 05 or 06 was nice though. Now list all the rubes he brought in. And I am not pumping Walters tires for landing Willy. especially considering he openly admitted he had 1-2 QB's slotted ahead of him 2 guys in 10 years... Khari Started for the team for 4 years and Glenn for 6... what's the problem here?

Marcel is the safe choice as OC. Not going to set the world on fire but not going to be terrible either, I can live with him, but would love an upgrade... just you might not get one. Etch has been better than expected this year, no reason not to bring him back at this point. Having some damned fine playmakers on D definitely helps. -
People have been saying that for a few years now. I think he makes the team again for the simple reason that he's shown himself able to be an in game fill in at RB if needed and obviously does enough on special teams to be kept around. In other words, he's a good depth NI and those guys keep their jobs very often.

Will Ottawa win another game this year?
17to85 replied to BomberFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Anyone who doesn't have faith in the Bombers finding a way to lose a game they should win clearly hasn't followed the team for the past how many years? Never take anything for granted with this team, they just love to rip our hearts out. -

They have a popular song "radio active" you'd probably know it if you heard it I am pretty sure it was even used in a commercial for something... I got nothing against them but based on the little I know about them it's not a good half time show pick. -

That's because some of the best and brightest CFL posters on the web are posting here and there's a good ration of good posters to crap posters simply because there's less crap posters. -
The best thing Zach Galifianakis ever did was Out Cold and it's probably because he doesn't act like Zach Galifianakis in it. I really don't like the McCarthy and Farley comparisons either, there was a difference between the two even if I can't exactly put my finger on it.

What will you do if Doege looks poor? Pine for the 4th stringer?

But I am confused... we were told by the resident rider homer that he would be back in the lineup by week 17... the doctors said so! How is it possible that Chamblin didn't ask the doctors?

Writing as a CFL fan, is it bad that I really don't care whether Durant comes back or not this year? Great athlete, has come a long way in understanding our game, but there's always been that 'something' about Durant that annoys me. Annoying in how he approaches the game, his teammates and the rest of the league. It's hard to put that feeling into words other than he doesn't appear to come across as authentic. Hope I'm wrong for his sake. Just my opinion as a CFL fan. The colour of his jersey?
