  1. This team has been responding to Mike O'Shea all year. Never once have they quit, they are fighting until the end of every game. They just don't have the talent needed to win all these games.
  2. hope springs eternal for the homer.
  3. No offense but how would you know? There's lots of us can remember exactly how it went down. Calgary wanted to make a big splash and sign a big name qb to wash the stink of the Feterik era off the team and they paid Burris a ton and gave him the starting job outright. Riders offered him nice money but they were keeping Greene around and wanted competition at the position. Burris doesn't like competition and he likes gettin' paid so he went to Calgary.
  4. I would argue that they have yet to come through when the game is on the line, at least I can't recall that scenario happening this season? First game in BC? At Montreal? At Hamilton? First home game against Saskatchewan? At home against Montreal? Banjo Bowl, continually getting the ball back to our offense in the 2nd half? Yesterday, again getting the ball back to our offense and holding Hamilton to field goals? Short memory? Yeah the defense has actually been quite effective for the most part this season. I dunno why people don't want to admit it. They haven't been a dominant D that can win games on their own, but it's rare that they have actually completely failed. Given this team chances to win most of the games. The biggest disappointment for this team has been the special teams by far. Expected a lot better out of them but they've made a lot of huge mistakes and basically cost the team several games.
  5. Burris is not coming to Riders. The only people suggesting this are a couple imbecile journalists & a few drunk fans. But the fact fans are royally flip flopping on such a central and traditional concept of hating Burris and actually entertaining the idea of him returning. What do you expect from a bunch of bandwagon jumpers? The whole hate for Burris is stupid anyway, it's long past time they got over it. It was like 10 years ago he went to Calgary. The funny thing is, if you remember the context of Burris signing in Calgary, he would've been crazy NOT too. Calgary offered big money, fresh regime & coaching, being named THE Starter, a job for his wife, and likely a condo & car. SSK offered big money and a last second flip from Shivers that he'd have to compete with Nealon for the starting job. The gap toothed homers have such an inferiority complex with Calgary its mind-numbing. Yeah I just don't get it, Burris showed himself to be a true gapper with that move, leaving Saskatchewan to go to Calgary for a better job. They should love him because he truly is one of them.
  6. Yes there is a lot of progress being made. The problem now is that they have quite a number of injuries and no depth to over come that. The GM needs to get his ass in gear in the offseason and build some depth. When healthy they were winning the close games, when not healthy they are losing close games, it's not rocket surgery here.

  8. He really needs better balance, there was one play I remember where he had a hole but someone got a hand on him as he went through and he just fell forward. Got a first down, but man if he kept his balance he had all sorts of room and likely could have ran for another 20 or 30 yards. He leaves so many yards on the field because he can't stay on his feet at all.
  9. It's really gotten noticeable and I really hate it. Make the call on the field based on what you see, if they review it and it's over turned so be it, but I'd rather they make a call on the field than waiting for the review to do it. So many reviews come down to insufficient evidence that the call on the field actually matters.
  10. The OL was really hit and miss. They either did a decent job or they were horribly beaten.
  11. What I see from the refs and the review process is that they are playing it "safe" in their calls. They are not having the conviction to make calls on the field that can be reviewed trusting the review process to get it right for them. Which is bunk because the review doesn't always have good angles. It's like they're reffing afraid of making a mistake, which leads to a lot of mistakes.
  12. some of you people really need to lighten up and stop being so damned reactionary. Take a step back, take a deep breath, actually look at things logically and then maybe you can stop this nonsense like insinuating that Willy is the problem. This team simply can not deal with the injuries we have right now, in particular Moore. Our group of receivers are just not dangerous being down our best one.
  13. I don't think the pressure is getting to him. If I was him, and if someone in the media puts out there that I said something I never said, I'd be angry as well. and since the tweet was deleted, pretty much tells me the media guy was WRONG. Exactly. The fact that he wasn't willing to stand by his comments says all that needs to be said. Actually the other part of the bit with O'Shea was how Bob sounded in response to O'Shea being angry at the situation, I suspect someone got a talking to about biting the hand that feeds.
  14. Moore especially is a big loss that I don't think is talked about enough. It really is telling that the slump really has coincided with all the games he has missed. The depth at receiver is just brutal and we can't get by without out best guy.
  15. He obviously should have called the plays that the Esks couldn't stop! what a moran.
  16. and what exactly did Doege show that makes you think that he knows how any better? He was crap as well and almost got a receiver killed on a meaningless play. Both qbs stank out loud and they both had the same problems. Telegraphing throws, no accuracy. My opinion is this: They determined that Sunseri was the better player which is why he was the backup, it would be incredibly stupid to try and switch course now. The only course of action until Durant is healthy is to stick with Sunseri and support him and give him all the rope he needs.
  17. Cause really how much can be said about Devin Tyler? Threads being derailed isn't always a bad thing, sometimes a discussion runs it course and a new discussion can spin off.
  18. it's not over until they lose to BC. That's the one that is really key.
  19. That bye week was way too long, it's good to be able to talk some bombers again after this place seemingly became riderfans pt2.
  20. Cortez is a great OC but he is stubborn as hell. He is doing very little to help the young QBs. Not using Dressler until the 3rd quarter is on the OC. he tried to get a running game going to give the young qb help but the OL got absolutely owned and the run game got nothing. That's the issue here, teams know that if they take away the run the young qb can't beat you with his arm, it's not going to get any better either. Sunseri fluked out the win against Ottawa because of one big play by Dressler, you take that away and the rider offense had nothing.
  21. The thing that really blows my mind is the decision to pull Sunseri and put in Doege. Nothing like good old desperation to ruin your young qbs confidence. Now if they go back to him next game he's looking over his shoulder every time they don't connect on a play wondering when the hook is coming. The fact that Doege was no better and probably worse (at least Sunseri wasn't throwing suicide passes to receivers) just makes it all the more LOL worthy. Shame the Bombers gassed their matchups against this team because the state they're in right now is not good at all.
  22. No expansion team was ever going to be a competitive team. Just not in the cards unless their GM is some kind of brilliant genius at recruiting american players (which obviously Desjardins is not) The big problem for them is that Desjardins thought that all he needed was a qb, that arrogance led to setting expectations higher.
  23. That Ottawa team is just all sorts of bad. They got a lot more problems that just a qb.
  24. with all the ways you can score in the CFL it takes a real special piece of incompetence to get shut out. Looks good on that team, though I hate to see the Esks do it, they're every bit as arrogant.
  25. now he gets his receiver killed, man oh man why did they ever go away from sunseri?
