  1. Haven't looked at the numbers, but is he far enough ahead that the extra game he's played since the Bombers haven't had a buy affecting that?
  2. Hajrullahu Sure but how many kickers win the Most Outstanding Rookie award. That's not what you asked.
  3. Still here! In the early going Willy was spreading the ball around and all of the receivers were looking good, including Kelly. In the last 5 or 6 games Willy has not demonstrated that ability and tends to concentrate on one receiver per game, probably his primary receiver. Therein lies the REAL problem with receivers who have not been productive. Willy seems to be getting half-decent protection from his O-line recently so not sure what is to blame for this change of course. our good friend Bob discusses some aspects of this in the following report. http://www.cfl.ca/article/irving-lots-to-shore-up-for-bombers-ahead-of-banjo-bowl If Willy has time and isn't throwing to receivers that means they ain't getting open, which has been the book on Kelly. Guy isn't good enough to get open consistently. Which is a hell of a thing because when you're 6'5 you're always open, that's how useless he's been. If you recall some of those great catches Kelly made early on he often wasn't open and sometimes in double coverage and he still managed to come up with the ball because Willy placed the ball perfectly. That's why those catches were so amazing. I think early in the season Willy had much better ball placement and I wonder if that first injury to his throwing hand wasn't the turning point for the decrease in throwing yards and accuracy. Romby has been open numerous times and he's not getting the ball either. Again, read Bob Irving's article and come up with a better explanation for the decreased offencive numbers because scapegoating doesn't work. With Romby and Willy it's an easy explanation, those two have horrible chemsitry. Even when the ball goes in that direction qb and receiver are on different pages. That's obvious. As for Kelly, there's scapegoating going on, I am simply looking at a players history and seeing the same things we have seen many times before. Few games where he makes some amazing catches then he pulls the disappearing act. If something has happened in the past and keeps happening then it's safe to say that that's just the way it is.

  6. I have deep concerns about some of you
  7. I can't help but wonder where all those loud mouths who were beaking about Kelly being great after game 1 are now...
  8. Looking at that depth chart... how is it they can't get Sears back in? **** sakes, that's a guy you make room for.
  9. Man oh man Burris just stank out loud on that final series. He's gotta own that one himself, but knowing Burris he'll likely blame everyone but himself.
  10. 7-5 game, good lord that's ugly
  11. so.... are you just really bored that you're doing website commentary for the game? in the mean time, LOL Burris, what a quacker
  12. guys who are capable at best don't get NFL interest and then don't actually make the NFL team who gave them a shot.
  13. yeah empty seats do nothing for you unless you consistently have so few people you just close off parts of the stadium, but that's not what happens in IGF. So even if you're basically giving those unsold tickets away you get asses in the seats chances are they'll buy a drink, maybe a hot dog or something as well and you're making more than not having anyone sit there.
  14. go east! or to be more precise... BOOOOO western teams not named Blue Bombers.
  15. especially that real heavy slushy snow, that **** just pulls you everywhere the second you get any kind of speed going.
  16. Nope not the case. Unless you mistakenly think the run stopping problems are a personnel issue and not a scheme issue. And I do. Then you're wrong. We had the same defensive tackles with Tim Burke and run stopping wasn't a huge area of concern. Henoc made like 100 tackles, helps to have a big body in the middle. And Ian Wild has 47 tackles in half a season, what exactly is your point?
  17. even with the right people Etchevarys D would still be weak to the run. The CFL field is too big to take everything away, there are always gaps for a team that can give their qb time. Etch just tries to take away one and gamble that teams can't run consistently enough to beat you.
  18. use a formation that doesn't give teams running options and problem solved no need to worry about size... As long as Etchevary is here we are going to be a team that has a weakness against the run that's just the way it is. Been his MO the entire time. You knew what you were getting when you hired him we just have to live with it and hope that it works in the long run. We made personnel changes on both special teams and offense, no reason it can't be done on defense too. If it's just Etch being Etch, then O'Shea needs to tune him in. That's exactly the point though, it doesn't matter what type of player you have when the scheme says "let them run, we care about pressure on the qb and stopping the pass only" Why would O'Shea tune the guy in? He's doing exactly what we knew he was going to do when he was hired.

  20. The injuries are really starting to pile up on this team. Can't help but wonder if waiting so long for the bye is a problem or if that short week really took too much out of them.
  21. I think it can be both. I picked up the love of football mainly from my friends in highschool but it's perfectly reasonable to think that some people get it from their parents. Everyone is different. The key is to get kids exposed to the game and they'll either develop and affinity for it or they won't. There will always be sports fans in the world, it's just a matter of making sure they watch the CFL.
  22. Ehlers is a really interesting one for sure, if he was a few inches taller he might have been picked a lot higher than he wound up being picked.
  23. That's why this place is so great, I can combine all 3 into one glorious experience.
  24. Hey that's unfair.... I like drinking a beer and watching football more than arguing.
