I very rarely go to Rider fans, my annoyance with them isn't just from dealing with them online. Transplanted Saskatchewan folk are very common in Calgary and in my field of employment, I have had encounters with a lot of Rider fans. Your teams fanbase is annoying as all get out and you don't need to go to Riderfans to figure it out.

If he went to the Bombers, heads would roll. plus they'd have to seriously rebrand the packaging for All Dressler chips...

If you think Roughrider fans are no different than the other fanbases, then stop treating them like they're different then. As soon as they as a group stop being insufferable douchebags I will stop treating them different. Drop the collective smugness and I won't have cause to complain. As it stands they are different, but only because they are the most annoying people in the world.

Who is claiming to be better? The reality is that former Riders in Saskatchewan are treated to an especially high standard of living. That doesn't mean that Rider fans are superior just more obsessed (overall) with their team. The mistake you are making is thinking that these guys are successful post football only because they were riders. There are lots of people all over this country who enjoy a high standard of living who never played football. People who succeed after football would succeed whether they played football or not. There's plenty of ex Bombers made a living in Winnipeg when their playing days were done, there's tons in Calgary too. Just because they're recognizable in places that actually have fans doesn't mean they succeed only because the fans recognize them.

This whole notion that Rider fans are somehow better or different needs to end right now. The only thing different about Rider fans is how loudly like they to boast about themselves but they're no different than any other fan base. Get a few more Al Ford type years and we'll see how strong that fan base really is.

and I would humbly suggest that players can make a good living in any city post football if they have the desire to do so. Regina isn't some magical place where guys get jobs outside of football. The reasons for him to stay in Saskatchewan are more simple than that. He's played there for years so I would suspect he's already put some roots into the community, got that familiarity with everyone in the organization, it's a good team with possibility of playoffs or more again, whereas an Ottawa is going to a poor team. But offseason jobs? No that's not in the discussion here.

absolutely. you add someone at the level of a Dressler and I'd have no problems calling the Bombers receivers tops in the league. IMO Dressler is over-hyped, over-rated and soon to be over-paid. His biggest season was 2012 when he gained 1,206 yards and most seasons he's right around 1,000 yards. He does not rank with CFL greats such as Steegal, Simon or Allan Pitts. if the bar you're setting is 3 of the best ever, then no **** he's not at that level, no one playing in the CFL currently is.

Johnson they seemed pretty high on based on pre-season and early season but I think Steele and Slaton just out performed him in the regular season. Same with Sinkfield, looked interesting in pre-season but other guys did more in the regular season.

Gavin Walls or Ike Charlton from that same era? one of the Mals at db? Really weren't a lot of long time big name types given the ones you've eliminated already.

I am not sure if I can agree with that... I think we've got an OK group of receivers but top 2 or 3? I dunno. If everyone is healthy I probably put Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton and BC ahead of Winnipeg.

yeah Glenn got a bad rap, he was what he was, good but not elite. Nice transitional guy. There's really a lack of options for that style jersey though since so many of the teams were so bad. You might have to look at names from the 2007 team?

But cutting Mills doesn't give you more receivers on the field all the time, and it's very likely that if they had kept him that Geroy Simon wouldn't have developed into the player he became. He would have still been 2nd fiddle at best to Stegall, he would have had to deal with the shitty quarterbacks post Khari and the shitty coaches post Ritchie.

Imagine if we had kept Milt, Bruce and Geroy together? Hindsight kills me sometimes. Considering the CFL was uncapped and Bauer forced Taman to a tight budget, I doubt that being possible considering the money that guys like Khari, Roberts, Sellers, Brown, and other elite players commanded at that time. I think people forget just how loaded that team was. Bobby Gordon might have been old, but he was a favourite target of Kharis in clutch time and you don't just cut that at the drop of a hat for a young guy with potential when you have another young guy loaded with potential in Arland Bruce already on the team. Plus you still had your super star SB in Stegall and a top RB in Roberts. There was still only one football around back then. I hate the comparison now because our defensive line right now isn't nearly as stacked as our receivers were back then.
