Which Coach gets an early paid Vacation?
17to85 replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah BC really looks like a mess to start this year, I'd have Benevides as the guy on the hot seat. Austin will survive the year but if his qbs don't look better by the end of the year he'll go into the offseason wondering. -
Leos at Als / Tabbies at Eskies / Riders at Argos

So what do we all think of the Edmonton D? They've generated a lot of turnovers so far into the season.. but at the same time neither offense they've faced has exactly protected the ball well so are they for real or just taking advantage of their opponents? Bit of both? -
All those hamilton qbs just made some atrocious mistakes. That pick near the end, good lord I thought Austin would run onto the field and start beating the guy because it was a stupid throw to even think about trying.

Grigsby has done well getting yards for us, but to me Cotton was the most impressive Bomber in preseason, I'd like to see what he can do because I think he's better at slipping through holes and making something out of nothing.
-
I think the injuries and nicks and subsequent shuffling made it look worse than it actually is. Wiley will have them playing real well before it's all said and done.

The elephant in the room is that the BC o-line is just putrid. guys in Glenns lap all day long and we all know how he deals with that.

me too... shame on me. BC looks terribad. -
Nice to have an offense that can score multiple TDs in a game and dig themselves out a hole.

It's either trolling or stupidity, your choice which.

Near the end of the game, that's one of the worst safety blitzes I've seen for a while which Willy took full advantage. If it was Milt receiving, he would have broken route, cut to the middle, put his hand up and bon voyage. Oh that was just the Bomber coaches out coaching the Ottawa coaches. Ottawa clearly expected something short playing for the first down and the idea of defending deep never entered their heads, Bombers did the unexpected and went over the top.

He's a team player when it's going well. When it doesn't though it's never his fault. He's not a winner plain and simple. It's clear by this point that his one Grey Cup win was a fluke. He's had enough years on good teams in Calgary to show that when the chips are down you're as far ahead with Kevin Glenn as you are with Henry Burris.
-
It's obvious at this point the guy is simply a troll, best to just let him talk his nonsense and be on our way.
-
Hufnagel got tired of Burris in Calgary too, difference is that Huffer made sure he got a starting quality qb back in return for Burris rather than hanging it all on a newbie. You're in Calgary, you know that Burris is the ultimate fair weather qb., He's all smiles when things are going well but when it's not then the excuses and finger pointing come out.

I am 100% sold on O'Shea as head coach. The attitude of the team is a complete 180 from last year and it's led to not only wins but enjoyable games. Even if they'd lost last night the way they fought back was impressive and much better to see than the rolling over and dying Tim Burke era.
-
WHAT!??!?! No way it's the Bombers adding in a higher pick, if anything the Als need to add a first round pick to even it out maybe a 2nd if they hold firm.
-
It's the high risk high reward thing, but they were getting exposed with the risks and thankfully they had the sense to calm down a bit and they stopped getting burned.

In the first Q, we had crazy DL rush/blitz schemes and left the flats open for Walker to exploit or if we didn't stop him in the backfield, run for 10-15 yards... classic Etch. After that didn't work, he retreated to a more CFL zone D. We sent four DL almost all game with the occasional safety or LB blitz. Seemed like Wild (for the most part) took a lot more of a 'contain' role than 'all or nothing' pressure. I think he gambled hard on getting to Burris in the 1st Q, it didn't work and, thankfully, he recognized that. Later in the game, he started getting a bit Etch again but by that time, the D was rolling and Walker was off his game. Just my opinion of course... haven't rewatched the game... not that I can thanks to TSN... Yeah from what I could see on TV the first quarter they were going all or nothing and when they got burned they seemed to tone it down a lot and make sure there were guys in position to cover the plays to the outsides. It really is classic Etch. Went all in leaving lots of room underneath and with Walker being a speedy guy you give him room he can run. They changed things up so he didn't have as much room and predictably he started getting stopped a lot more.

To me it looked like Grigsby knew where to go to pick up the blocks, he just didn't commit to it. Getting in the way isn't good enough at this level, gotta actually get a good piece of the guy and even if you get beaten at least give the qb that extra second. That's something Charlie Roberts could do. If he decided to block someone he'd throw his body at him and at least slow him down a bit.
-
ahh the classic case of a guy who knows a little bit about football making big claims about observations that are so far off the mark it's almost comical but then defending them to the death even though everyone else sees how ridiculous it is. Good times. I mean really, guy thinks Stegall was used as a deep threat... ridiculous, Stegall was used all over the field... much like they used Nick Moore last night.
-
Willy took a real beating on the field though, and for a while it looked like his hand injury might derail the whole thing, can you blame fans for wanting to see the qb that is finally putting an offense worth watching on the field be protected better?
-
I think Kelly is just limited in his ability to get open when he's not one on one... however that being said, when you're 6'5 and you run down the field you're always open, and with Willy showing a great touch on his deep ball and able to drop it right where it needs to be there's room for a tall receiver who has good hands.

29,000 seats sold for tonight

I also thought of walk ups as tickets sold the day of the game anyway not people who just showed up to the stadium at game time. Who does that in this day and age when you can buy a ticket online and have it on your phone? -
They didn't even wait until halftime, they were making adjustments all the time. That's the biggest key. They recognized they were getting killed and fixed that ****.

the one call where they flagged the bomber for pushing the player out of bounds there was a blatant hold not called on the bombers DE, really pissed me off there and I did start to get the feeling too that the refs were being a bit more lenient towards the newbies. It's important they're competitive don't ya know.
