I re-watched the game and Brohm did look better on film but I don't really forsee them cutting any qbs, they'll keep a 4th around and see how the season progresses. I dunno that they see Hall as a long term option but he's going to start the year backing up Willy. If they have to start going down the depth chart though who knows how things change.

people should listen to me, I don't make **** up. Hall wasn't bad in that game apart from a few throws, the receivers let him down a hell of a lot.

Hope you're right. Lots of bitching by players. The tweet by Iannuzzi took the cake today. There are a lot of players who like to speak before thinking, I wouldn't worry what they say.

I don't think that's the case at all, I think the guy really just cared about how good of an athlete a guy was and nothing else really mattered. If a guy is big and strong and fast Mack was a fan and expected the coaches to turn them into players. Went for more than just draft picks too. I'd agree with that. A little of the Al Davis School of Drafting. For what it's worth Ty Pencer ran a 4.62 40 while a Sr. in high school which did a lot in the way of getting him that scholarship to Washington State. He was originally recruited as a DT and flipped to OT during his redshirt year. As a redshirt-freshman he was made starter at LT halfway through the season. The Cougars had two Canadians starting on their OL at one point with Joe Eppele starting at RT. was Kris Robertson another guy who got on the radar because he tested really well at the combine? Seems to me he had some good measurables but the memory is a bit foggy on it.

Cyclist killed in collision while en-route to game on Monday

They're putting dedicated year round bike lanes in Calgary. They wanted to put one on 1 St SE going south out of the downtown to MacLeod Trail. Anyone who knows Calgary knows that was a stupidly insane plan because of the traffic volume coming out of the downtown during evening rush hour. City council voted to not allow it for that portion of the road. But there will be dedicated bike lanes downtown. How that'll work in the winter remains to be seen. there's some dumb bikers in calgary too, I almost creamed on downtown a few weeks ago because he decided to cut in front of me from my left just as I was accelerating after having to stop to let a car turn off the street. Honestly I see it being a real clusterfuck down town, drivers can barely manage to drive properly with cars and pedestrians now you're going to throw bikes into the mix? -

oh you poor sheltered winnipeggers who think you actually have busy roads... -

They won't vote against it. If the CFLPA tells them to ratify it they will ratify it otherwise why do they even have the PA representing them in the first place? Quit worrying about nothing.

Disagree. This is more or less arguing for the sake of arguing b/c I don't think either will happen, but Willy has already been declared our starter. Hall hasn't been given any assurances that he'll be the backup. We gave something up to get Brohm, so there are clearly people in important positions who think highly of him. People in important positions think highly of all the qbs we have. You can disagree with me all you like but my statement is absolutely true. Some people just have this hate on for Max Hall and can't see what's really going on here. We're not rolling into the season with a guy who has never played any meaningful CFL football backing up a quarterback with extremely limited starts.

Evander Kane Being Sued by BC Man for Alleged Assault

The whole thing to me sounds like a case of "When Dickheads Collide" -
the one thing to keep in mind is that Abrams is apparently a Star Wars fan where he was never a Star Trek fan, which could certainly explain why he missed the mark on some of the characters there.

We got Dougie for a third round pick. I don't recall how we got Barnes but I think you are confusing him for Spurgeon Wynn. No there was a first round pick involved in the Brown trade, the Stamps too Oosterhuis who they then PRer and Taman grabbed. Trust me on this one it's 100% accurate. Barnes was absolutely a first round pick as well. TIllman was pissed because he wanted to take Barnes in the expansion draft. Wynn I believe was had for a first round pick as well. If you want to keep arguing with me go ahead but be prepared to be wrong.

Let's be completely honest here folks, there is a better chance that Hall supplants Willy as #1 to start the year than there is of anyone else supplanting Hall as #2 to start the season.
-
Never mind that none of those guys have or had a particularly strong arm... but brains and accuracy oh my stars they were amazing in those aspects.
-
With Mack, Pencer, Etienne and Poblah now gone, what are we going to argue about? Poblah was a pretty silly argument to have anyway, everyone and their dog agreed that he was a prospect well worth using a first rounder on and if he was in the draft he likely was the #1 pick. Just happened that the guy couldn't translate all those physical tools into anything of substance.

Not really, there's a pretty good difference in my mind between 4 and 8 when a team is trading down. I know you're a Mack apologist but bear with me here... The story, as we are told, is that O'B forced Mack's hand into the trade before Buono made the move. If Mack had been connected, he would have heard rumblings... as if Edm doesn't call the bombers and ask for something... At that time, we had #3, #16, #21, etc... we had the 'firepower' to move up again and get Westerman, Mack sat on his hands and was schooled by Buono. you are assuming Edmonton was actually looking to move their #2. The way I see the situation unfolding is that Mack had the optional move with Hamilton made but BC was asking Hamilton about #3 as well so Hamilton says to Mack **** or get off the pot we got other teams interested, so he pulls the trigger. After that I see BC going hard for Edmontons pick moreso than anything else and those two teams dealing with each other not really caring about what other teams are doing.

Evander Kane Being Sued by BC Man for Alleged Assault
17to85 replied to Atomic's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Sometimes people just want to take a swing at an athlete. Hell I remember hearing stories in Brandon about people trying to take a swing at the tough guys on the Wheat Kings just to try and prove a point. Kane has a reputation as a tough hockey player, maybe this guy figured he either gets to brag about how he took a swing at Kane and Kane pussed out, or he gets his ass kicked and he sues this prick of a hockey player for assault. -
I have not found this to be true. Examples? His Bomber coverage last year per and post firings. He didn't like Mack and everything was over the top mud slinging, he likes Kyle Walters and it's all sunshine and roses. Guy is a self important media douchebag there is no question about that. If he wouldn't make things personal I'd have a lot more respect for him.

Serious question... how many runningbacks can actually carve out long careers? Seems to me that if you get 3 years out of a runningback you're ahead of the game already and it doesn't much matter about their size. They are simply put the easiest position to recruit players for because there's so damned many of them kicking around. All I really care about from that position is who is the best guy? Size be damned put the best player there and worry about longevity in the future. If the guy can't last more than a couple seasons just go down to the pound and pick up a new running back. very true. but then, having one that is more likely to break on you mid-season can have dire consequences. (like Kack did to us last year then came back from injury and broke again finishing his career and taking away our running attack and chance to ice our lead in the 2nd half of the EDF). you gotta stop talking about Kackert like he was that good though, man you argo fans over rated that guy.

arm strength is the most over rated things people talk about when it comes to qbs. It's a nice tool to have but it is far from the most important thing to worry about with a qb. Brains and accuracy are far far more important than being able to throw the ball really hard.

I hear you Iso but to be fair, last year he looked like he was starting to make a contribution until he got walloped in the head and was essentially done for the year. Worst first rounder ever? I don't know...there's been some real stinkers, and for a lot of draft years, we never even had a first round pick. I think Pencer is more of a bust then Jade, as at least Jade saw the field. Here's a walk down memory lane of some of our first round picks over the years: 2000 (second overall): Daaron McField, DL -- Lasted one season, never started and traded away in his second season. 1996 (fourth): Andrew Henry, DB: role player for two seasons. 1995 (sixth): Sean Graham, SB: Lasted three injury-plagued seasons. 1994 (fourth): Ryan Carey, DB: Special teams specialist. 1993 (fifth): Alan Wetmore, LB: Another special-teams guy. 1989 (eighth): John O'Brien, LB: Never played a single game in Blue and Gold. 1988 (third): Dan Wicklum, LB: Lasted one season before getting picked up by Calgary. 1987 (sixth): Andrew McConnell, DL: Never played for Bombers. 1986 (seventh): Brian Bellway, DL: Never played for Bombers. http://www.thecarillon.com/sports/winnipeg-blue-bombers/bombers-draft----first-round-busts-256301471.html The most amazing thing to me from that list is that we didn't have a single first round pick from 2001 through 2007!?!? Did we trade them all for starting Canadians? Please tell me we at least got Doug Brown for one of those. Doug Brown was one of them, another was for Pat Barnes, another was for Gauthier, I forget what the others were, maybe one was involved in the clusterfuck when Tom Canada was traded but couldn't be traded for that MLB...

The problem Lawless has is that he's really the stereotypical media douchebag. If he likes someone then it's great but if he's got an axe to grind with someone being an objective reporter is out the window and he's dragging people through the mud. I really have a dislike for media people with personal vendettas.

He just seemed to get it. Knew where to go with the ball and how to get it there. I hope he gets more time in the next game (though that's probably not too likely as I expect they'll give willy a ton of time) so we can see if he's actually got it or just looked good against another teams training camp fodder.
