  1. as expected. Players were never going to get what they wanted, just glad no one tried to be stupid about things.
  2. you're not getting out to the park to watch it?
  3. maybe if they'd stop putting the douchiest of self important douches on the air people would be more willing to listen to them.
  4. yeah it's been a long damned offseason, need some CFL fix bad
  5. **** televised, I'm excited that I get a chance to go see it live.
  6. We here in Alberta like to think we don't live in some socialist utopia like you guys in Manitoba. We used to be free enterprise, pro business & anti unions. But Red Tories & closest NDPers like Ed Stelmach & Alison Redford changed all that. Now, we're just like everybody else. The Alberta Advantage is dead. As a comparison of economic management, look at Norway vs Alberta. Both have the same amount of conventional petroleum reserves, but Norway has used their revenues to fund free Medicare including eye-care, psychological treatment, dentistry, physio, and pharmacare. They also have free post-secondary education for academically qualified students and transportation infrastructure second to none. Also, no school or property taxes and they have some 50 billion dollars in various ethical investments all around the world. And Alberta has Redford's penthouse and lot of very rich US and Chinese investors. Damn those socialists and their financial responsibilities. I am tired after a long drive from Calgary to Manitoba but I am going to explain some things about this situation to you tomorrow, quoting now so I remember to do it.
  7. Listened to the coaches show and based on all of what he says to the press I have way way more confidence in O'Shea as a coach of this team than I did with Burke. Just seems like a guy who understands how a team needs to act. Can't wait to see what this team does with him as the leader.
  8. I'll give you overpriced, but I think the food's very good. plus their house beer is pretty solid too. I forgot about that. What is it called? I had one, but I can't remember if I liked it or not. They've got 3 or 4 different kinds, a blonde, a red, a brown and maybe one other. They're all pretty solid, nothing spectacular but better than having to order one of the gross mass produced beers.
  9. I am just going to come out and say it right now, a lot of you really really really over rate the value that Jets pieces have.
  10. Yeah but Florida wouldn't. You know what Florida is looking for to give up the #1 overall? A legit top 4 defenceman and depending on how good the guy is maybe a +. They are rumoured to be hot and bothered for Ekblad so if you want that pick from them better start giving up pieces on D.

  12. I don't hate him, I just don't think he's what you hope for out of an import receiver. A new scouting staff should be able to produce better than that. And from the reports in which we can take with a grain of salt it appears Kelly is excelling over most of the new guys. Should we be pleased that Kelly is stepping up or do we look at this as a red flag at our recruiting ability? We look at it like a veteran has an early advantage on rookies, TBD if that holds over the entire course of training camp.
  13. I really liked his explanation for it. I really do think O'Shea is going to be the kind of coach that the players will play for because early indications seem to me anyway that he will protect his players rather than doing the old Tim Burke toss them under the bus. Whether they're a good team or not I expect them to fight a hell of a lot harder this year than they did the past 2 years.
  14. Oh wait you were serious... Let me laugh even harder. If the Kings want out from Richards contract they'll find a taker and I'd be shocked if it wasn't a better return than having to retain salary to pick up a KHL player. I don't know, that's a pretty ugly contract. He's been trending down the last three seasons and his contract pays him a lot of money until he's 35. yeah but there's teams with cap space who would be willing to take a chance on him bouncing back. He does have a lot of winning experience.

  16. I have a hard time believing that.I don't in the least. They're committed... You believe that 98% of players who will be lucky to play 2 years in the CFL are willing to lose game cheques just to get a few more sheckles for future players? I'm sorry but the world is more selfish than that.
  17. Friesen doesn't give a ****, I am telling you his article after the Bombers next Grey Cup win is going to be titled "All Down Hill From Here" Guy doesn't care about doing a good job he's just the worst sort of troll out there, an obvious and bad one. Good trolls have subtlety and intelligence, Friesen just tries to hit people over the head with his trolling.
  18. On the contrary, Terry, i think that Osh's quote in the article displays a keen awareness of how the press in Winnipeg works. if even you can see it then I don't understand how anyone else can miss the point.
  19. I have a hard time believing that.
  20. how often do we ever hear anything about o-linemen in training camp? Everyone focusses on DB and receivers and qbs.
  21. Braleys money was great for the CFL, Braley himself is a **** stain on the league.
  22. Yeah how Schultz hasn't been booted out by now is just mind blowing. One of those absolute morons with no charisma who thinks he's bloody brilliant and a showman. Hate them so much.
  23. It's not just that Friesen took a stupid premise for an article, it's that it's a horribly written article too. Guy just has no talent and I hate to see untalented hacks being gainfully employed. I dare say there's a good number of people on this site could write circles around Friesen if they had the opportunity. Now as for O'Shea not letting coordinators talk to the media, that I like, especially when you actually listen to the way he explained his reasoning. This is a guy who the players are going to love I think. Already seen him stand up and put himself between the media and the players more than Burke ever did.
  24. The classy thing to do is not mention it and let us all wallow in our own self pity.
  25. I just don't see how the players will actually stick this through. It's easy for hockey players to give up games when they make millions of dollars a season, but in the CFL? Man these guys can't really afford to miss a pay cheque not to mention that the turnover in this league is stupidly high as it is not playing doesn't help any one increase their longevity in the league. I understand the position that they want to make a stand, but there's just no way they will win this. They might be united now but once they find the money isn't coming in there's going to be a lot of guys just wanting to get on the field.
