Letang is a good offensive defenseman, but they really do need someone better in their 1D slot, someone who you can rely on to settle things down if need be and Letang just isn't good enough defensively. Perhaps some of their younger prospects can get there but they ain't there yet. Crosby and Malkin at centre is great, but they still need some wingers who are worth a damn for them to play with.

It's true, even Don Cherry points out how over the top it is and he's about as big a "suck it up" guy as there is. That being said the days of having an enforcer play with your star player are over so I think the best course of action is put someone else on Crosbys wing that can do damage on their own and give teams someone else to worry about out there.

Crosby takes a lot of **** on the ice and it can get to him. He needs some better support because if he gets frustrated by what is happening on ice then he can't be expected to carry a couple stiffs all over the ice. Or just get someone on his line who will take care of the people taking pot shots at the guy.

my understanding is that he traded 2 third round picks for the 2nd (was out last night and too lazy to go back and track down the trade exactly) and if that's the case why the hell would anyone complain? If they like the player they can get with the 2nd round pick that much then good move by the GM to get it done.

The Bombers need to win football games. Period. Whether it is 6 or 9. The word mediocre shouldn't even be brought up after a 3 win season. 2011 doesn't come around all too often. win games but set your goals higher than mediocrity. I want to see them build something and a guy who peaks at mediocrity is not a long term solution. I am tired of replacing coaches year after year after year after year, let's hire some quality people who can take this team to the top of the league. I am tired of teams that can't mount a comeback if they fall behind on the scoreboard. MB and his safe approach isn't what I want to see.

The league is not that many years removed from being on life support. What happens if Wettenhall decides he doesn't want to lose money on the Als anymore or god forbid croaks? What happens if Braley gets tired of sinking money into teams or again god forbid dies? Same deal with Young in Hamilton, what if he gets tired of losing money? The league has only just got back on stable ground they are right to be cautious about their finances. Players deserve a bump, but I think going after having it tied to revenues is a bad move. Not the hill to die on at this point.

Well they could start by getting rid of this notion in the states that voting for a 3rd party is wasting your vote. They need more choices then there could be a real meaningful change. If the Oilers trade Yakupov then who plays wing on the 2nd line? Keeping in mind that secondary scoring was the Oilers biggest problem last season.... No the move the Oilers will make with the forwards is replacing Gagner with a different type of centre, but Gagner for Phaneuf doesn't work for the Leafs because they're looking for the same kind of centre the Oilers are and Gagner isn't it. The Leafs are pretty set on the wing as it. I suppose the Oilers could send prospect D for Phaneuf but again I doubt the Leafs want to trade a piece like that for futures. I guess they could build some type of package swapping someone like Petry for Phaneuf but the Oilers really don't have the depth required to make big moves. It only fills one hole by opening up another.
