  1. not when there's the perception that he's a problem for Winnipeg. Right now he's got more value to Winnipeg than he does to anyone else because other teams see a player being healthy scratch and it throws up a red flag. The only thing you're going to get for the guy now is a player with some red flags of their own. Better to just let Kane work through whatever went on this year and see if he can't get back to what he was before.
  2. The thing no one ever talks about with solar power is how much pollution you cause making solar panels too. Just ridiculous how villified certain sources are. Hell look at the craze for hybrid cars being "green" I actually read a piece that explained that the lifespan of a hybrid car was 1/3 of a hummer and because of that and the pollution caused producing the batteries for hybrids that a hummer had a smaller environmental footprint considering it would last longer and less polluting to make. People really need to start looking big picture.
  3. 22 years old or whatever Kane is, way way too soon to be talking about the kid like he's a bust. Lots of players are just getting started in the NHL at 22 let alone having 1 30 goal season and one one pace for 30 goals season under their belts.
  4. Back in his prime, I'd assume. Not now. Is he even still playing? Where did he go after Edmonton? He had a cup of coffee with Chicago I think. And Khabibulin had some absolutely brilliant moments for Edmonton too, trouble was he was so old and couldn't do it very often. Got burned out real quick.
  5. you guys are ridiculous. a young player who has shown he can put up 30 goals and he has a down year this year and you write him off, just ********. Same as the ******* who call Yakupov a bust because he's had a poor year this year.
  6. well you CAN just bury nuclear waste, quite safely. And modern reactors have so many fail safes built in that you won't see a meltdown. Hell the only nuclear disaster recently was caused by a major earthquake and in Canada there are plenty of places where you won't see big seismic activity so nonissue there. Did you know that coal fired power plants produce more radioactive material than nuclear plants? And they just pump that all into the air. The nuclear boogeyman doesn't exist and the sooner people stop thinking it does the better off the world will be.
  7. you are purposely ignoring his pace in a lock out shortened season to make a stupid point. Hell he's had a goals per game pace of over 20 4 times including this year. It's pedantic to focus on just the number 20 without taking into account things like the lock out season meaning no one puts up the usual 82 game numbers.
  8. As long as you are out there looking at prospects and picking the ones that actually can play I don't really care how you do it. I like the article, it's a good look at how they want to operate. Walters is going to have a lot of good will with the press giving them inside looks like that too, they love that ****. I really hope it all works out because bottom line I just want to see the team win.
  9. Then why don't more people actually score 30 goals?
  10. Stupid when he had 17 in the lockout season. He was on pace for 30 in that season (technically 29.something but we're rounding up to make a point) and had 19 in his sophmore season and 14 in his rookie season and he has 17 in 60 games right now, I don't care what kind of excuses you want to come up with, Kane is at least a 20 goal player and guys who can hit between 20 and 30 goals are worth more than people want to admit. Especially when they're over 6 feet tall and skate that well.
  11. You're an idiot. He's already scored 30 goals once and was on pace to hit it again in the lock out season. You have no idea the value of NHL players right now.
  12. QBs need the right system to succeed, I think that is more a case of not giving young qbs the support system they need than guys not having the talent to make it work. As for the o-line, I still maintain the coaching let that position down more than any as well because no one seemed to make any progress at that position. I am willing to entertain the notion that the previous regime looked for a certain thing in the players at that position and it wasn't what they should have been looking for but I still think there was a lot of failure in development being the biggest cause for problems.
  13. I think we're doing ourselves a disservice if we bury our heads in the sand about this. There is the ideal that most people have in their minds for a hockey player and it ain't what Evander Kane is. I think PK Subban suffers the same. It's not overt racism exactly, because a lot of Russian players have to deal with those issues a lot of times too but guys like Kane you can not tell me don't take more **** than they earn simply because they look different.
  14. well if you're poor and actually look at the prices on menus maybe
  15. This guy is one of the biggest Greenies around and also one of the most radical leftists I have seen and he is huge on nuclear power: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2011/mar/21/pro-nuclear-japan-fukushima He addresses your theories about decentralization and he's not a big fan of it. As you say, huge costs involved. There's huge costs involved in building centralized power plants too, just that it's easier for a giant corportation to foot the bill and pass the expenses down to consumers incrementally. It really boils down to de-centralized vs. centralized and nothing more and they are competing ideologies on more issues than this one.
  16. TSN thinks the CFL is too boring to watch if there's not a good side story to beat into the ground. Annoys the hell out of me.
  17. See I have a hard time getting so jonesed up of a switch in what system a GM uses to grade players. Here's a relevant example from my job, I use a specific program to do my work in, the guy I am reporting to now though has forced me to switch to a new system because in his mind it's far superior and makes more sense for everyone. It's not, it makes more sense to him, to me it's just a giant pain in the ass when I can get a better picture in the program I was using before. The point? Different people see things differently, doesn't make one way better or worse than the other just that for different people different approaches work. Of all the things wrong with the Bombers the last couple years finding prospects from the states was absolutely not one of the problems.
  18. I am completely serious though, would Kane take nearly the **** he does if he was a white kid? If he was a 30 goal scorer from some rural town in Manitoba and acted exactly the same way people would absolutely LOVE the kid. Guys like Carter and Richards were the poster boys for being stupid immature kids and no one gave them half as much crap as Kane gets.
  19. Well if you want to keep the power supply centralized then yes nuclear is the clear cut best option. I just think a better solution is to de-centralize everyones power as much as possible. It's a lot of upfront costs on individuals though so it's not an easy sell.
  20. With Mack and Moll you were basically paying for their connections. I seem to recall Moll talking about the process and I was left with the impression that they basically talk to people they know to get leads on players then Mack and Moll would look into the tapes of these players and work out the ones that impressed them the most. So techincally it's 2 guys on staff but they used a lot more eyes indirectly as well. Now I am going to go out on a limb and say that Walters has a hell of a lot less connections so he needs more eyes of his own. Nothing wrong with that and I sure as hell hope it works out, but different systems work for different folks. We never had a problem scouting american players using Macks system so let's not go trying to claim he was short changing us in that aspect.
  21. They have some kind of chicken burger there, fantastic. The whole premise is kind of ridiculous with the constant flirting and what not but for greasy food it's perfectly fine. Just as long as you understand the whole idea behind the servers and can ignore the ridiculous over the top flirting.
  22. C'mon, no love for Chicken On The Way?? It's one of the least healthy things I've ever had, but as far as greasy chicken and a mountain of fries goes, it's solid every time... C'mon, no love for Chicken On The Way?? It's one of the least healthy things I've ever had, but as far as greasy chicken and a mountain of fries goes, it's solid every time... Honestly, lived here for 24 years & I never had it... I'll take your word for it, though. No don't do that, it's nothing special. Had it for the first time a few months ago wasn't overly impressed. The Chicken Chef (was a Chicken Delight before that) in the town I grew up in had better fried chicken than Chicken On The Way. I'd just as soon get KFC to that.
  23. And I remind myself of Peyton Manning but with less talent and less money. so just a guy with a goofy face?
  24. To be perfectly honest, the best solution is probably if every house and building was as off the grid as possible, but good luck getting most people to pay the up front costs of conversion. Stuff like solar is a good option for minimal usage, use the grid for heavy use times only otherwise everyone is on their own. That's the future of energy if you ask me.
