Tons of qbs with all sorts of tools come through the CFL and leave quietly. Until he does something in training camp or preseason there's no reason to get worked up.

I just can't believe that, these things never pop out of nowhere. It's not the first time that people have complained about the meanies picking on them, I suspect it was media. -

So which public person bitched and complained that the bullies on the internet were picking on them? -
I want to talk about something that really grinds my gears
17to85 replied to Mike's topic in General Discussion
Had chicken on the way for the first time a few months ago, I don't know what the big deal is. Everyone talked it up like it was the greatest thing to happen to fried chicken, the Chicken Chef (and before that it was Chicken Delight) in the small town I grew up in was better than that. -
Any wagers on how long the new team in Ottawa lasts?

How much money do you think jr. teams actually make? -
I'm not sure anyone would be upset about a Canadian safety with a beloved brother playing well for us. Unfortunately, Cauchy being cut has to be considered far more likely than him being a productive starter. Why? Not like he's lacking the physical skills to play the game, he just made mental mistakes and that's the kind of thing that can be corrected through coaching. If O'Shea has hired teachers like he wanted what's to stop Muamba from getting better?

You know that Walters has spoken highly of Pencer right? So not like he's been opposed to every draft pick that was made. And to be perfectly honest I think too many people on this board get too worked up over the Walters wanted Edem stuff last year as well. In a draft where every highly rated prospect was getting NFL interest I don't think you can be too critical of the Bombers taking a chance on a guy that no one really expected to stick in the NFL, especially when the guy the missed out on was a safety and you'd just went and signed a NI safety in free agency. Too much revisionist history going on there. The honest to god truth here, is that we don't know what kind of drafting we're going to get out of Kyle Walters because there is no track record. Oh sure there's talk about he liked that guy or he liked that guy, but we just don't know what he's going to do so until there is a track record it's premature to say he's good or not.

when you look at the qbs who have played a long time lately, thinking Burris and Calvillo here, they have both been quite healthy and as soon as Calvillo started to take some hits and get hurt he was done pretty quick. Glenn isn't like that he's a pretty beat up player already in terms of injuries he's had and how often he does seem to come up hurt when he gets hit. Couple years I think are all you could realistically expect to get out of the guy. I think that's why he wants to be a starter so bad, get a couple more bigger paydays in before it's all over.

Well any starting QB is a stop Gap until the next QB out plays the current starter. With glen being 34 yrs old, he could be our starter for 4 or 5 more years if someone doesn't out play him.. And if none of our younger QBs can out play him, then they shouldn't really be starting.. I get that QBs will grow quicker with more reps but all the reps in the world are not going to help if they just don't have it in them to be bonafide CFL starters. We should be going after the best QBs available.. Just like Ottawa did. If the Bombers think Willy, Hall, Broughm are better then Glenn, then that is their prerogative. But if they are wrong and Our Qbs **** the bed, then the Bombers are going to be in a world of hurt as the Fan base is already tired of the same old **** and fan support has been waning. No I don't for a second think Glenn can play until he's near 40. He's had too many injuries along the way and too many playoff collapses to last that long as a starter. He doesn't have a lot of time left in his playing career.
-
I think you are all crazy if you think the Bombers would get Glenn and he'd be a backup. He'd still be better than the other qbs on the roster and he would start. The point right now though, is that we have a couple guys who look like they can probably play enough to move forward and Glenn at his age is a stopgap at most so is it worth giving up anything for a guy like that? Take him for cheap but don't pay to get him. Plus there's the whole **** Ottawa for thinking they can outsmart everyone by dumping huge money at Burris.

So Calgary goes and gives the league a successful example of elevating a young starter with upside, and teaming him with an experienced, good-but-not-great backup... and TBurgess from the confines of his cozy British Columbia abode thinks that it is laughable to suggest that might work in Winnipeg? Calgary's been arguably the most successful team in the CFL since signing Kevin Glenn as its experienced, good-but-not-great, backup quarterback. Why wouldn't we try it, if the price were right? I wouldn't compare Willy with Tate just yet, Tate got to play a fair bit before they traded Burris did he not? Safe to say Calgary had a better idea what Tate was capable of with their team. Willy has played quite a bit more than Tate prior to Burris being traded. With a different team though, that's a pretty significant part of it.

Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today

If we were discussing his actual article maybe but it's not that, we're discussion whether he's a poor writer or a terrible writer, entirely different. -

I'd much rather see the option window back. Having to let guys out of their contracts just bugs me because both parties know what they're getting into when they sign the contract and I hate to see people act like they are entitled to have their contract ended.

7am WBB FC Announcement -- Buck Pierce New RBs Coach
17to85 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That's a by-product of newspapers dying as a source of information. Too many other places for people to get their information so someone got the big idea that columnists needed to be the entertainment and it's a horseshit idea, mostly because Gary Lawless is not entertaining in any way shape or form. I'd rather read Paul Friesen because at least he is clear what his character is supposed to be. -
That's what some people have been saying about Glenn for years. He's not the guy to put a team on his shoulders and lift them up on his own, but he's a guy who if he's surrounded by good players he fits in. That's the whole reason a bunch of people wanted to run him out of town the first time, because he couldn't make people better than they are.

You can defend against erroneous attacks. If iso kept his attacks to simple stuff like the record then there's no issue but he goes into things that are easily argued. -

You see once again you miss the entire point. I love to argue, the problem is that you started bitching and moaning about the fact that I didn't let you get away with your bullshit so in an effort to ease up I said I'd tone it down as long as you did, but you didn't so now I am wondering why. The problem with comparing your criticism of Mack is that you invent things, when I criticize Lawless it's all the truth and much more about an opinion than pretending it's all fact like you do in regards to Mack. Don't worry, you can't get me worked up because I don't get worked up about this stuff like you do. Have you ever seen me complain about people arguing with me? That's the entire goal here. -

Well when you want to stop inventing make believe arguments about Joe Mack I'll stop arguing with you. It's totally different because I'm calling Lawless a terrible writer, which he is. Nothing more nothing less. Just stating the simple fact that since Tait moved to the Jets and Turner stopped doing anything the Free Press coverage has been laughably bad and Lawless is part of that. -

Maybe it's not what Lawless writes but how he writes it? You don't need to be an expert to know that he's not a great writer. He always has an agenda he's pushing, he changes his opinions that were oh so strong in one article seemingly at the drop of a hat... he's basically the newspaper version of an internet troll. Guys like Ed Tait and Randy Turner were fantastic covering the Bombers in the paper, now we get this current bunch of losers... it's a damned shame. -
Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today
17to85 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
his big flaw was not hiring the right coach. Fundamentally his approach was not that dissimilar from Popp or Buono, but he didn't have an all time great coach like Buono who always developed a qb or Calvillo for decades. The guy had the approach that you can replace players which isn't wrong but you need a good teacher and leader at head coach if you're going to do that and he failed spectacularly at that aspect. -
no I wouldn't give up **** for Glenn at this point. Let Desjardin sit on an unhappy qb. He may think he's got the control here but he really doesn't. No one is desperate enough for Glenn to give up anything good, the only one desperate to make a trade is Desjardin and that's his own fault.

We had Brink, Elliott, Goltz to groom and how did that turn out. Turns out Mack was a lousy barber nah he just hired lousy barbers.
