yeah no worries here because both the league and players know that they need to get a deal done. Most of the players are very replacable and the teams know that if they don't play games there's no league. They'll work something out eventually.

7am WBB FC Announcement -- Buck Pierce New RBs Coach

I hope to god that's not how reporters are taught. They should be reporting the facts not trying to lead people into soundbites that fit the conclusion the reporter wants to have. -
Great Bombers article from Gary Lawless today

You can't offend me and that's not what I'm talking about. I told you in another thread when you said how tired you were of this argument that if you'd stop with the blind hatred I'd stop calling you out on it but you jumped right in here so you can't blame me for wondering why you had the change of heart right? If you want to have a rational discussion about Joe Mack I'm all ears but all you do is ***** and ***** and ***** and blame him for everything under the sun even if it's not right. -
I want to talk about something that really grinds my gears

Stopped for A&W on the road one day and I ask for a large fries because I was hungry and I'm a larger than average person and the small portion is bullshit... and they tell me they can't do it cause they only have one size of fries... what the hell is that nonsense? You'll give me a giant keg of coke which is pure sugar but I can't get a reasonable portion of french fries? -

He was also fired a long time ago, I don't see the need to keep the constant attacks going when Walters has made some questionable moves all on his own. I also won't give Walters credit for increasing the budget for football ops because that's not the GMs call. Going all the way back to Taman they've been cheaping out on that kind of thing so now MIller spends more and we give Walters credit? No assign credit where it belongs. You seem to think that if Mack had a billion dollar budget we'd win. Sorry, there's no way I subscribe to that theory. Mack was incompetent. Incompetence doesn't suddenly change because the guy has a bigger budget. He'd just have more $$ to waste. Nothing would have changed. He was brutal. Mack's the reason we're in this mess now. If you give the man credit if he wins then you have to criticize him after he loses. for a guy who keeps saying you don't want to argue about this anymore you sure are quick to start the attacks you know that right? What I'm saying is that you and others constantly ***** about how few scouts and how few coaches the team had... well that comes down to the budget right? So why give one GM credit for having more money to spend than the other? You have a very clear agenda when it comes to Mack and it makes your opinions very hard to take seriously because anything you can spin into being Macks fault you do it then start whining and crying when someone challenges it. -

The CEO hands out the cash, but it's the GM who decides how it should be spent. By most accounts, he's doing a very good putting together the football ops. It doesn't matter what you think he should be making as a GM. Point is he could have taken more money for himself and chose instead to put it into areas that would be more beneficial to the team. You seem to have the same MO as Lawless lately. Nobody will accuse you of cheating on Mack if you say something good about Walters... yeah but if a GM isn't given the cash what's he supposed to do? Look I like some of the stuff Walters is doing but it's gotten ridiculous the way people talk like it's been hit after hit. It's all still unproven, but I guess that's the Bomber fan way. New is better and if it's not well there's lots of buses to throw people under. -
It's the way expansion teams always look. Get lots of old nearly done guys cause you're the only team that needs them then have a ton of rookies and unproven players.

Another drive by of the past regime? Come on that's lazy writing. Seems like he's tooting Walters horn when maybe he should be tooting Millers horn more. It's the CEO not the GM who gives out more money for operations staff. And let's be honest here, Walters based on his experience level should be making less money as a GM too. It's an article that really is Lawless' MO. Hype up the people he likes while cutting down people he doesn't. There's nothing ground breaking there and until we see the results on the field it's all just self serving. -
Maybe he asked for a signed Watson jersey and not actually the player.

so I'm guessing he's not one of them smart qbs.....

So they downgraded to an inaccurate headcase who was no better from further away. Good job coaches.

I'm sure it was a stupid move.

Bombers trade for QB Brian Brohm; cut Justin Goltz
17to85 replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
so it's official, you'd ***** about Ray as a bomber? Esks fans always bitched that he couldn't make a play without fantastic protection and his arm isn't that strong... How about this, Bomber qbs haven't been put into a position to succeed because they're had shitty o-lines, shitty offensive coordinators and sometimes shitty receivers to work with? -
Buck Pierce set to announce retirement today
17to85 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Just out of curiosity ... why? Doesn't strike me as cerebral enough to coach. How cerebral must one be for a QC role? if guys like Marcus Brady and Jarious Jackson can be coaches in the CFL then so can Buck Pierce. I dunno if he wants to or if the Bombers want him to but I don't think he's unqualified for at least a chance anyway. -

Luongo traded to Florida for two nobodies

This is exactly why it's a terrible trade. If they'd done this trade last year no big deal, the fact that they did it after trading Schneider last year (and trading him for a smaller offer even, Edmonton is rumoured to have offered their first round pick which was 2 picks higher than what they got and a prospect like Marincin who is playing quite well this season) Just horrible management and I can't wait to see how he manages to **** up the Kesler situation too. -

the companies even justify it by saying the customers prefer the smaller sizes... because if they left the sizes they same they'd raise prices and customers hate rising prices. -
I think there's room in this debate for both. There should be a better system for spotting and treating mental illness, but once the line has been crossed I don't care how crazy a person is it's game over.

Buck Pierce set to announce retirement today
17to85 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
or he knew he wasn't going to play and wants to be in Winnipeg with his finance/wife? Sometimes things are less complicated than people make them. I'd love to see them find a role for Pierce on the team. He lost it as a player but as a person he's a good one and he bled blue and gold, gotta love that about him. -
Heritage Classic Vancouver - What's The Point?
17to85 replied to iso_55's topic in General Discussion
because they lose their appeal when they become over done... and let's be honest the only reason the NHL is going over board with them is because they realized they can get twice as many or more paying customers through the gates so more money = more stadium games. -
to be perfectly honest I think it was as level headed a discussion on a controversial topic as you are likely to see on the internet.

Lewis is a dickhead but he'd be a good player for the short term.

Bombers trade for QB Brian Brohm; cut Justin Goltz
17to85 replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think Goltz sunk himself with his sulking. And according to Walters his contract was too big. His sulking wasn't even really sulking. Burke turned on him like Burke was prone to do and Goltz felt betrayed, I think that's completely fair because the way Burke treated a lot of players was complete and utter bullshit. Goltz got no support from anyone and received almost all of the blame. I'm not saying he would or wouldn't have worked out at qb, but he didn't get a fair shake from Burke and now his career is over (most likely) Yeah, I agree Burke didn't treat Goltz as well as he should have. And as a HC, we all know Burke sucked the Big One. But for Goltz who had just a few starts & played awful in most of them to say to the media he felt betrayed by Burke &/or Bellefeuille, I can understand why they benched him. He was sent a message by the former HC & our present OC to shut up & know his place. I figured Goltz's time was ending back then. I'm surprised they didn't release him last September. I thought it was pretty clear that he was finished here so they should have cut him then like they did today & start giving Levi Brown more reps. And that is my issue too. They should have released him right then and there. -
I just want to touch on this topic, but yes the actual act is worse than simply shooting someone dead. Shooting someone is a pretty straight forward act, pull the trigger and it's done, Yeah it's still horrible to kill someone but the act only takes an instant. I wouldn't be lenient on anyone but there is a pretty significant difference between acts. To me, a person who knowingly murders a person is just as bad as someone who is mentally disturbed and performs gruesome acts. If anything, the fact they are so gruesome attests to the fact that Li was extremely disturbed. I just think especially in this case, while it is completely understandable to be horrified at what Li did, it is also impeding many people from looking at it from a purely logical point of view. Does that make sense? I admit I'm having a hard time explaining exactly what I mean. For example look at the disgusting, horrific things people are doing on bath salts and meth these days... I shudder just thinking about it. Admittedly, I too was initially shocked that he was going to be released, but I took a step back to look at the whole picture. I think where the logic breaks down for you compared to other people is that you take a more sympathetic stance which is geared towards rehabilitation, whereas other people see the justice system as a method for punishing offenders. But if you want to get into that debate it's going to completely change things and turn into a huge argument because neither side will give an inch.
