  1. nah I didn't even listen to the interview I just know what the situation is in the CFL with regards to the number of quality qbs and what happens everywhere else in sports when a salary cap rises. Agents really don't care about the big picture, all that matters to them is how much do my clients peers get paid and how much can my client get paid.
  2. playing in Toronto and getting the most hype because of it? Maybe, at the same time though you've got to admit out of all the young QB's that started last season Collaros was one of the most exciting to watch. IMO Marsh, Smith and Mitchell were the others and I suppose that's where the Toronto hype factor works in. Well difference between Collaros and Willy is that Willy didn't get nearly the opportunities to play. Honestly the most impressive of the young qbs to me was Smith
  3. is there someone willing to own a team there? That's as important, probably more so than a stadium.

  5. Curious who you're talking about because my first thought is that it's me and I haven't been absent. I'm actually bummed to see Jade go. I'm curious too cause Noeller and I have been here as well...
  6. I prefer to go with the aforementioned middle finger to Ottawa trying to extort something noteworthy for Glenn.
  7. I'm not sure about that. If it was a different GM who gave this contract (ie Buono, Hufnagel, Barker) then I would be inclined to agree. Jacquie, the salary cap is going to go up. If it goes up to $5 million it stands to reason that the contracts for qbs will be substantially more. And that teams will carry more than just one qb capable of starting. I heard that entire interview. Hank's agent called the new tv contract "A brave new world". And he said that some GMs see it coming & are preparing while others are not. This is a player agent talking, a guy whose clients include Burris & Ricky Ray. Not some fan talking out of his hat. He knows what will be happening. You can listen to the entire interview on CHQR in their audio vault. Just check the date & time I started this thread as the interview was just about to begin. Jacquie listen for yourself & decide. Matter of fact, I'd encourage everyone to listen. Just remember the time difference. He's still talking out of his ass. There aren't enough qbs in the CFL for teams to carry 2 guys who can start. You know what will happen with more cap room? All contracts will rise, yeah backup qbs will be paid more... but the gap between starting and backup qbs will still be there cause when teams have such issues finding guys who can play a backup on one team will get starting money on another. All you do is shift the current CFL payscale up for everyone and a new equilibrium is reached with things being structured the same.
  8. but you've hated Durant for years. The guy has played in what? 3 Grey Cup games already and won once, that ain't bad. Might be time to take off the rider hating glasses (and no one wants to do that) but Durant is a good quarterback.
  9. Serious question: based on what? Super optimism powers. How about the power of super logical thought process? Read the above post, smart ass But he hasn't proven anything yet so until such time it IS nothing more than optimism. When there's no track record it doesn't matter what it looks like on paper, optimism is the name of the game. Why not just accept and embrace that you're just being an optimist? It's not a bad thing.
  10. Tim Burke held grudges but didn't have the balls to out right cut a player.
  11. Serious question: based on what? Super optimism powers.
  12. More like questions being asked if we just lost Etienne for nothing and he played well elsewhere, don't you think? Well no I'm thinking more along the lines of if Etienne plays well somewhere else then why couldn't he do it here? Would raise a hell of a lot of questions about a lot of things don't you think? Like I said I don't mind trading FA for FA if you don't expect to sigh the guy but if the Bombers so totally gave up on/ never gave a chance to Etienne and he winds up working out where he plays next then it raises a lot of serious questions.
  13. it's FA rights for FA rights correct? so if you don't think you're going to extend Jay Detain that's fine, but man if he goes to the riders and plays well there will be questions asked.
  14. FB in the CFL these days is much more like a TE than a FB anyway so I wouldn't worry about that.
  15. Hall and Willy battling for spots 1 and 2 wouldn't be the worst situation.
  16. in a year or two Hank will be 40+ years old not sure a guy that old who relies on his athleticism will ever be a bargain at that price.
  17. why not stick with Hall? He did show some signs of getting better and he has shown more than Nichols cause every time nichols gets into a game he leaves on a cart. Hell I still say Goltz isn't as useless as people make him out to be. He got the Tim Burke under the bus special.
  18. because he plays for a different team. Bomber fans do this all the time. Everyone here is useless anyone who has shown any remote spark on another team is automatically better.
  19. 6'2 202 is pretty solid size, here's hoping he's worth a damn. Though I'm starting to think we'll be forced to go with 3 NI receivers simply due to lack of options with the ratio.
  20. The big problem with weicek is that he openly talks about how he doesn't care for the CFL so right there you know he's not going to put in any effort to understand the league. Guy needs to go back to the track and curling cause he actually cares enough about those to get the story right.
  21. *Braces for Iso's Back-In-My-Day-Everything-Was-Better 3-Paragraph Story* Like the time he caught the ferry over to Shelbyville, he needed a new heel for his shoe. So he decided to go to MOrganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So he tied an onion to his belt, which was the style at the time.
  22. He should have at least traded his rights to an NFL team and got SOMETHING for the guy, now he's lost him for nothing. You can't trade his rights to an NFL team. It's not allowed. Thanks for clearing that up. I haven't had my morning caffeine yet. My sarcasm detector isn't fully functional yet. Forgive me. To avoid future troubles if you just read everything I post assuming I'm being sarcastic you're probably safer than assuming I'm being serious.
  23. I still say to temper expectations here. Bomber fans should know as well as anyone how misleading records after firing a coach can be. Historically Maurice has had the same problems as Noel had. What I am curious to see if if the Olympic break disrupts the momentum the Jets have right now. I believe there is an example in the Thrashers history where they fired a coach after a horrendous start and then the team rebounded to win something like 10 straight games before falling back to where they were previously. The absolute easiest time to coach a team is after a coach is fired midseason, it's what they do long term that matters. Momentum is big though and the Jets are riding it, the key is how they react when adversity hits.
  24. If only they'd listened to me back then! I tried to tell everyone who would listen that Kevin Glenn may not be the ideal qb but you don't drop the guy until you know you have someone better to replace him with.
