Just out of curiosity, why would the position a player played on the field have any bearing on their abilities as a front office guy? Are you suggesting a QB would make a better president than a long snapper just because they played a more glamorous position? The football background relevancy comes from being around a team, it's leaders, seeing the day to day operations and what may work / may not. It doesn't come from where you lined up on the field. Never mind that he played both linebacker and fullback right? Seems to me that in terms of on field experience he's about as well rounded as they come having experience in all 3 phases. There's reasons to question the hire but not a single one of them has to do with his football background.

I don't know that Khari was all that terrible as an OC in Hamilton though... It's not like they ran him out of town, they just changed their head coach to someone who happened to be a bit of an offensive guru so that made for changes in the whole coaching staff. Basically I have no idea whether or not Khari is any kind of quality HC candidate or not, all I know is that seeing him in green is just wrong and it's high time he comes home in some capacity.

The concern would be how does a rookie head coach deal with the ex head coach being under him? Is Burke still trying to act like a head coach? The only way this can work is if everyone 100% buys into the roles. personally I'm in favour of just doing a clean sweep and starting fresh but IF everyone is on board 100% then I suppose it could work.

Add to it the fact that Canadinns had hard to predict wind and we really should have been a kickers last stop at that time. ahh yes cause Westwood wasn't a washed up old vet at that point and Serna wasn't a below average american kicker...

I'm just saying that Calgarys offence relies on being able to run Cornish, if that gets taken away (as the argos did in the grey cup last year) everything falls apart cause Glenn isn't the guy who is likely to go out there and win it on his own.

I think the GC will come down to Ray > Glenn you mean Cornish vs. the toronto defense right? That's what did them in last year, they couldn't establish the running game.

Eh I'm not saying that's why the Als lost, just saying that I hate the refs not calling penalties because they don't want to decide the game when in reality not calling penalties is also game deciding. It's not just a problem in the CFL either, happens in all sports.

No one is shocked, just disappointed. You can clearly see that the ref saw it, but he didn't want to throw a flag on a game changing play which is a shame. If it's a penalty call it regardless of when it happens.

Based on the suns you be the boss results I think the ignorant masses could be sold on Burke. Miller already seems to be setting us all up for it by keeping on with the "Joe Mack was worse than Reinbold and Kelly combined" story. I am absolutely terrified that they're going to take the easy way out and keep Walters at GM and Burke at HC and throw all the blame at Joe Macks feet and we'll wind up with another absolutely terrible season and the stadium will be the usual 20000 diehards who always show up but not much more.

If they retain Burke the team will still suck. They will still not be prepared on game day and will still get their asses handed to them week in and week out. Burke is not a good head coach plain and simple and regardless of any talent issues the team may have they will never live up to the potential that they may have with Burke as head coach.

Owens last year was bullshit, shoulda been Ray as the argos nominee then too cause without Ray Owens is not nearly as impressive a player. Ray makes everyone on offence better... but Owens was doing 3K yards before Ray. and his 3 X 3K in a row was/is unprecedented in pro football. I hate giving kick returners awards though. Yeah he had lots of combined yards but kick returning is just cheating really. Didn't like WIlliams and Owens being top contenders just because of the combined yards when so many yards came on kick returns.

....which means we are either strongly considering retaining Burke or an an organization we don't know our arse from our elbow. Both options cause me great concern.

Would that completion percentage and TD:INT ratio be as good if he had played more games though? Considering that he sustained it before and after injury yeah I think he would have.

only 2 ints is the real impressive thing, combine that with setting a record for completion % and it's a no brainer to me. Yeah Cornish has a lot of yards but so what, he's not the only guy to get up to that kind of numbers but when was the last time you saw a td:int ratio and completion % like that? The fact that he missed games is the only thing making this close but to me no one was more outstanding than Ray.

cause the numbers he put up were stupidly good. 77% completions, 21 tds and only 2 ints... that's just unreal good.
