As far as the qbs go I thought Willy looks pretty comfortable, just had a few issues putting the ball in exactly the right spot, but it's the first preseason game, I'll just chalk that up to rust and maybe not having that instant chemistry with the receivers. I expect that will improve a lot which is a good sign. Marve played well, yeah it was all the scrapings of each roster he was out there with but the guy showed some moxy and made plays, all you can ask of a guy. Hall I think is getting a bit of a bad rap. He had a few accuracy issues similar to Willy at times but there were also some plays where he threw a ball and the receiver didn't even know it was being thrown too. The only guy that to me looked absolutely useless at qb was Brohm. Man he didn't do anything out there. There was a lot to be encouraged about in that game I thought, still don't like the D but the special teams and offense look like they might be worthwhile this year so baby steps.

I dunno, just looking at the way the defense was lining up it seems to me that it puts a hell of a lot of pressure on the linebackers. I don't like it.
-
All I know is the offense was really bogged down until he came in during the 4th quarter and all of a sudden they were moving the ball. Showed a lot more accuracy then Brohm did.

I think Star Treks biggest enemy right now is the canon and the fans who scream bloody murder when it's not adhered to. I think they had a great opportunity to take an existing franchise and modernize it for a new generation because let's face it all of the star trek series are incredibly dated. Hell even going back to watch the first seasons of TNG is a painful experience. In my mind they had the chance to re-invent the franchise for today and dropped the ball trying to plug as many fan service moments or "hey remember that scene in Wrath of Kahn?" moments that it took away from the movie. The way I envisioned them handling it there was still plenty of opportunity for those little fan service moments but you were free to change the entire universe around which in my mind is what the franchise needed very badly.

well not turning 30 and having Bomber football might be better in my estimation.... but why nitpick? Get good and drunk and enjoy the ball.

I absolutely loved the idea of just doing away with all the established canon, I think it was so convoluted by the time that all the series had run their course it really limited what they could do with the franchise going forward. Re-booting it all to me was a great idea for that franchise, but then they decided to re-make wrath of khan except it wasn't really wrath of Khan because they'd never encountered Kahn before and it didn't have the same impact.

I did enjoy the first star trek movie they did even with all it's flaws, and when I watched the 2nd one in theatres I did enjoy it but mostly from a standpoint of all the callbacks they did... but then I watched it again afterwards and the writing just made me cringe. So nonsensical. Those two clowns who wrote it are terrible writers yet somehow keep getting to write every big budget movie out there.

Judging all fantasy based on Tolkien is a horrible idea. Tolkien wrote boring as hell stories with flat one dimensional characters. Seriously I have tried 3 times to read the lord of the rings and the hobbit but I can't get through them because the guy just wrote terribly boring ****. Game of Thrones represents the direction the genre has taken in recent times though. Yeah there's still the classic fantasy elements but they are a far cry from the stereotypical juvenile stuff of yesteryear.

try being a reader of the books that series is based on. Waiting a week for new episodes is nothing compared to waiting 6 years for a new book to come out. but you are quite right, we are living in an on demand world these days. People want what they want on their own terms and don't want to follow someone elses schedule.

I think that was the point. They were not so happy with how X3 turned out so they figured they could just wipe away all the garbage they turned out. It's not a bad idea. I didn't mind the latest movie, I might have expected it to be better but as far as a summer popcorn flick goes it was OK. I think in future movies they have to stick with the new folks. I am just a big fan of MIchael Fassbenders Magneto. Captain America 2: Electric Boogaloo might have actually been my favourite comic book movie I thought it was that good, and it's not even a character I think is all that fantastic, but damned if they didn't do that movie really well IMO. I have no idea if it'll be good or not but I am looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy just because based on the trailers it seems to know that it's a ridiculous premise and just intends to have fun with the movie which I think is something that doesn't happen enough in movies today.

I don't care if it's preseason I'm just so happy to finally have a chance to get to IGF and see some football. Long offseason so let's get this season going.

competing against a fading Montreal team, an expansion Ottawa team and the Argos? Yeah I suspect they'll wind up looking like they're a better team than they are again.

you guys are idiots. Kane has already hit the 30 goal plateau, he's shown what kind of player he is. -
I appreciate the pun, but I just have to say that he's old as ****, for real.
-
as expected. Players were never going to get what they wanted, just glad no one tried to be stupid about things.

We here in Alberta like to think we don't live in some socialist utopia like you guys in Manitoba. We used to be free enterprise, pro business & anti unions. But Red Tories & closest NDPers like Ed Stelmach & Alison Redford changed all that. Now, we're just like everybody else. The Alberta Advantage is dead. As a comparison of economic management, look at Norway vs Alberta. Both have the same amount of conventional petroleum reserves, but Norway has used their revenues to fund free Medicare including eye-care, psychological treatment, dentistry, physio, and pharmacare. They also have free post-secondary education for academically qualified students and transportation infrastructure second to none. Also, no school or property taxes and they have some 50 billion dollars in various ethical investments all around the world. And Alberta has Redford's penthouse and lot of very rich US and Chinese investors. Damn those socialists and their financial responsibilities. I am tired after a long drive from Calgary to Manitoba but I am going to explain some things about this situation to you tomorrow, quoting now so I remember to do it. -
First Coach's Show tonight on CJOB at 7:00 pm CST

Listened to the coaches show and based on all of what he says to the press I have way way more confidence in O'Shea as a coach of this team than I did with Burke. Just seems like a guy who understands how a team needs to act. Can't wait to see what this team does with him as the leader. -
I'll give you overpriced, but I think the food's very good. plus their house beer is pretty solid too. I forgot about that. What is it called? I had one, but I can't remember if I liked it or not. They've got 3 or 4 different kinds, a blonde, a red, a brown and maybe one other. They're all pretty solid, nothing spectacular but better than having to order one of the gross mass produced beers.

I am just going to come out and say it right now, a lot of you really really really over rate the value that Jets pieces have.
