  1. If there's one thing this fanbase is good at it's hating on players for the sake of hating them.
  2. I don't care how many points the Sedins put up, Thornton is a better player if only because of how damned big he is and Marleau has a lot more well rounded game than either of the sisters. Anyone who seriously thinks the Sedins are on the same level is crazy in my opinion.
  3. And that is exactly why the team Winnipeg inherited was complete ****. They never had patience with their young players and sold them for pennies on the dollar. When you are not an attractive free agent destination you have to build up a system that can sustain itself and that takes time.
  4. They're just numbers as I've said many times, no one is trying to say they say anything, you're just making assumptions like you always do.
  5. I keep saying this every time they change a rule for no reason. Sometimes you can change too much.
  6. Except that the stats show Etienne had more yards per game than Kelly did.... Mike isn't trying to pimp Etienne here, simply saying that Kelly was less productive yet people ran Etienne out of town on a rail so why does Kelly as an import survive? Maybe because Kelly in his short time showed more than Etienne did in his 3 years by making 2 or 3 good catches? Etienne has some highlights in his bomber career too.
  7. it'll turn into a sideshow if there's an iffy call in a game. Press will be looking to skewer the poor officials. Those guys have a hard enough job as is, let them avoid the spotlight and scrutiny from the media and public. They should be answerable to the league no one else. Otherwise you get them thinking about having to answer questions to the media after the game before they make any calls.

  9. Only if you choose to read more into them than is already there, but that's not a flaw in the numbers only a flaw in the person reading that into them.
  10. It's funny you said that b/c I was taking about this with a friend of mine yesterday. It's basically a lateral move, but it would give both groups a breath of fresh air. Lateral my ass. Thornton and Marleau are way better players than the Sedins.
  11. was that game in Hamilton the one where he kept alternating qbs series to series as well? What a stupid ******* idea that was.
  12. The bottom line is that numbers like this are just numbers, it's how they get interpreted and whether that interpretation is correct or not that matter the most. I would suggest that what these numbers show is that the Bombers drafting history is on par with the other teams in the CFL.
  13. absolutely no good can come of forcing officials to explain to the public why they called the game the way they did. Nothing good at all.
  14. So what part of the transportation is giving you the most trouble? What in your opinion is wrong with the facility and concessions? I mean you go to the games right so you have all kinds of first hand knowledge of these things right?
  15. well there's certainly no evidence to support that claim....
  16. Torts is rumoured to be an owner hire moreso than Gillis, but yeah Gillis was a moron of a GM and with all the bridges he burned being a hardass agent it's no wonder he didn't get good value in his trades.
  17. He better follow through because crunching numbers like this is damned fascinating.
  18. this is my thinking as well. Burke had a team that just rolled over and died at the first sign of adversity, I don't think O'Shea will tolerate that in a team. He was too competitive as a player and you know his team won't pack it in because if he has players who do that he'll get new players.
  19. How so? All it does is take away one import backup. Not ideal of course but definitely do-able and worth it if he is better than our other options. Also allows us to keep a couple extra Canadians on the roster. If he handles both duties and gets us an extra five yards every play, it makes sense... If Newman and Bucknor perform, that helps... If Watson, Stephan, Alexander stay healthy... lots of ifs Otherwise, I'd rather burn all three DIs on defence it's obvious to me that they won't be going with the DI LB/DB and it'll be a NI filling that role. Too many NIs of that type on the roster so naturally that's where they'll get the DI spot for a kicker. Think that was the plan all along with the talk early on that they wanted Waters to kick.
  20. ****** eh. rider fans didn't become the darlings of the CFL until they started to actually improve and then everyone piled on the bandwagon and it became hip to be a rider fan. Bomber fans though have put up with more **** than anyone and STILL show up in the stadium in numbers that every other team in the league would love to have. How do the Edmonton numbers look by the way? Anyone got them handy? Seems to me the crowds there aren't so big now that their team has hit the skids either.
  21. You have to trust the people building the team to make the right pick regardless of what rankings may say.
  22. Especially since Aaron Kelly is still on our roster. Bellefeuille bromance? I'd rather bring in a reasonable prospect for a look in training camp, hell if we really need Kelly back I'm sure he'll be available. Don't even get me started on Aaron Kelly, I have no idea why he's still on our roster. For everyone that loved to rag on Jade Etienne, here's an import who tons of people seemed to fall in love with because of a few spectacular catches despite the fact that he actually produced LESS than a guy like Jade. If we're going to be competitive, we should be able to do much better than Aaron Kelly. But he made two really big highlight catches early on in his tenure!!!! Next Stegall!!!11!!!!
  23. Because he is still a damned good player and lots of teams need a centre who can do the things he does in the regular season. Not everyone is as deep as San Jose that they have centres playing on the wing just to fit everyone in.
  24. The fact that even us diehards felt like turning the game off before it was over many many times last year should be a damned good indication that selling season tickets would be tougher this year. People want entertainment and last year was not entertaining in any way. Alternately, clearly the public has spoken, they are not in favour of firing Joe Mack as GM.
  25. Why would they blow up a team that does so well in the reg. season and takes a great team like LA to a 7th game? The irony is folks like you tell Chevy & Chipman to be patient and keep returning deadbeat players to the roster. At the same time you exhort a successful organization like San Jose to 'blow it up'.... San Jose has been a contender for years and keeps choking in the playoffs and unlike WInnipeg they have amazing depth. I'm not saying blow it up, I'm saying you can run with Pavelski and Couture as your centres and still have great centre depth and if a piece like Thornton can net you a good defenceman (cause let's face it once Pickles went down their D started to look vulnerable) it might make your team better. Winnipeg needs to be patient because they are still building that depth, San Jose has good depth and a good drafting and development system they could trade someone like a Thornton or a Marleau and still be a good team, especially with the right return. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. I love Joe Thornton as a player but he's not getting the job done as the captain in San Jose in the playoffs and a change might be in order for everyone.
